UNLV track & field’s Rosa Santana was named the Mountain West Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Santana, originally from the Dominican Republic, earned the weekly honors after shattering her own shot put program record, previously set January 28 (17.53m), at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational this last weekend by a mark of 17.93m (58-10.00). Not only does Santana own the program record, she also holds the national shot put record for the Dominican Republic.

The sophomore also earned a spot in the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, held in Albuquerque, New Mexico March 10-11.

NEXT TIME OUT: Santana and the Rebels will close out the regular season with a trip to Flagstaff, AZ for the NAU Tune Up Friday, February 17.
