ABOUT: The School of Rock Performance Group celebrates the iconic music of Mötley Crüe and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

School of Rock, a unique nationwide music school focusing on private lessons, group rehearsals and seasonal live rock performances, opened its first Las Vegas location at 9340 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 117 on Oct. 1, 2011. School of Rock offers students an authentic band experience by giving students the opportunity to jam with other kids and perform at popular venues in front of live audiences. The school teaches music that students love to play and audiences of all ages love to hear, including classic rock, funk, reggae, heavy metal, alternative, indie and progressive rock. By playing music that they love in a group environment, students become inspired and quickly develop their confidence and musical skills.

School of Rock is primarily focused on students ages 7 to 18. Adult programs are also available. School of Rock’s proprietary performance-based curriculum teaches students to play rock music in a unique and interactive way. There are weekly individual lessons on guitar, bass, drums, keyboard & vocals and weekly group sessions with seasonal performances. Because of the age range School of Rock accommodates, younger students receive quality guidance while elder students are provided with the tools to lead and mentor.

Everclear at The Cannery Saturday, March 31

Everclear at The Cannery Saturday, March 31

Art Alexakis, founder and frontman of the group Everclear, never shied away from reflecting on his troubled experiences early in life.  Collaborating with original band members, Alexakis used those experiences and translated them into song and eventually multi-platinum album sales, a Grammy® nomination and a number of recording and music awards.

Everclear will perform at The Club inside the Cannery Casino, March 31, 2012 at 8 p.m.

Many music critics believe it’s not just the fact that Alexakis relies on his life experiences for inspiration that is unusual.  As the Los Angeles Times’ Richard Cromelin wrote about Everclear’s music  “ …(Alexakis) spits it out with a Lennon-like candor and an unruly, unstoppable energy.”

Everclear’s fans are just as supportive.  Many of the group’s songs made it into the Top 5 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart including “Santa Monica” (which was also #1 on Billboards Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart), “Everything to Everyone,” “I Will Buy You a New Life,” “Father of Mine” and “Wonderful.”

Everclear received a Grammy nomination for the Best Rock Instrumental for “El Distorto de Melodica” in 1997 and in 1998, was named Billboard’s “Modern Rock Artist of the Year.”

Throughout his life, music has been a constant source of peace for Alexakis.  After longtime band members left the group, Everclear’s Welcome To The Drama Club release in 2006 showed that new members and new inspiration would bring a cohesive mix together again.
