The Bookmaker Cocktail at The Underground Speakeasy at The Mob Museum
The Underground speakeasy at The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, is pleased to introduce The Bookmaker cocktail in celebration of the Big Game making its way to Las Vegas for the first time in history. The founding of the American Professional Football Association in 1920, now globally recognized as the National Football League (NFL), made way for a new era of sports betting in the United States. At the start of the decade, a simple money line bet was the most popular way to wager. That was until Charles K. McNeil created a new strategy in the 1930s – the point system. An avid gambler, mathematician and bookmaker, his method transformed sports betting from a win/lose model to the entertaining structure we have today. The Bookmaker cocktail is composed of WhistlePig PiggyBack Bourbon, WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye, maple syrup, celery bitters and liquid smoke garnished with candied bacon. Photo available here.
