THE NEON MUSEUM ANNOUNCES PORTRAIT HOUR
FOR PERSONAL PHOTO SESSIONS

The Neon Museum announces Portrait Hour for guests seeking to book time in the museum’s North Gallery amidst hundreds of vintage Las Vegas signs for a personal photo shoot. Guests who book Portrait Hour tickets share the space with other guests while they have a portrait photo session taken by their own photographer. Portrait Hour dates and times are preselected and available to view here.

The North Gallery sits adjacent to the main collection in the Neon Boneyard and offers visitors an array of world-famous un-restored Las Vegas signs such as Lady Luck and the Golden Nugget. The space is ideal for guests looking for a colorful, one-of-a-kind backdrop for their photos.

“Portrait Hour was created to allow fans of the museum to take photos for special occasions or just for fun in front of their favorite Las Vegas signs,” said Dawn Merritt, vice president and chief marketing officer, The Neon Museum. “While we still offer private photography bookings at the museum, this option offers a more affordable way to shoot personal photos in the museum for those who don’t mind sharing the space with other guests.”

Photos taken during Portrait Hour are for personal use only. No commercial retail, fine art or editorial use is permitted without prior written consent from The Neon Museum. The total number of guests allowed during Portrait Hour is 15, which includes the guest’s photographer, assistants and other guests. 8 East at Circa to Open October 28

CHEF DAN COUGHLIN’S 8 EAST TO OPEN OCTOBER 28 AT CIRCA RESORT & CASINO

New Downtown Las Vegas Pan-Asian Concept to Feature Creative Cuisine, Hip Energy and Rare Spirits

Chef Dan Coughlin will open his highly anticipated pan-Asian eatery 8 East at Circa Resort & Casino  two months ahead of schedule on October 28. Inspired by metropolitan Asian food markets, the dining destination will span Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and Thai dishes in a hip, high-energy atmosphere punctuated by great music and rare spirits.

“We’ve been working on 8 East’s menu and concept for the past two years, and I couldn’t be more excited to finally introduce it to everyone,” said Coughlin. “When you come to 8 East, you’ll taste a collection of ideas and ingredients I gathered in my travels through Asia that I’ve been testing non-stop over the past several months. 8 East is going to be all about friends, family and fun and we can’t wait to welcome everyone next month.”

A key player in sparking the Downtown food movement with hotspot Le Thai, Coughlin will introduce new fusion dishes and techniques at 8 East that he’s been keeping in “the vault” – previously tested both at his Thai restaurant and at home for family and friends. His menu will be full of shareable dishes that radiate originality and personality such as Coughlin’s Salt & Szechuan Pepper Chicken Wings, Cumin Lamb Lollipops, Brisket Fried Rice and slow-roasted Crispy Pork Belly Bacon. Each will be served with signature Chinese, Szechuan, Chengdu and Thai sauces, amongst others, offering unique flavor combinations for guests to explore.

Boasting an urban contemporary vibe, 8 East’s design will be reminiscent of a modern metropolis, accented with organic and natural design elements. At its entrance, visitors will want to snap a photo of a whimsical wall art installation filled with traditional Maneki-neko waving cats, symbolizing good luck in the Japanese culture.

A Glimpse into 8 East’s Menu:

  • Sharable Small Plates – 8 East will primarily focus on sharable plates with offerings such as the indulgent Crispy Pork Belly Bacon, slow cooked 10 hours before it’s lightly fried and served with a side of tamarind sauce. After a successful test run at Le Thai, 8 East’s Beef Skewers and Chicken Skewers with green sauce will quickly become a guest favorite. The Tokyo Crepe will feature sauteed wild enoki, oyster and shitake mushrooms, fried tofu, cilantro chimichurri, kewpie mayo and soy glaze; while the Pork Belly Bao will include a rich, smoked porchetta paired with pickled cabbage slaw, fresh cucumber, topped with a sweet and sour marmalade.
  • Family Style Dishes – Continuing the theme of social dining, 8 East’s family style dishes will include an array of heartier options for groups. This will include a Five Spice Ribeye seasoned with star anise, cloves, Chinese cinnamon, Szechuan peppercorns and fennel seeds served with butterfall sauce; Brisket Fried Rice and Whole Lobster Fried Rice, both cooked with fresh ginger, garlic, fish sauce, crab paste, green onions and white pepper.
  • Diverse Entrées – Taking a page from Chinese Szechuan cuisine, 8 East’s authentic Dan Dan Noodles will be cooked with ground pork and tossed with Szechuan sesame sauce. The signature 8 East Ramen will combine Osso-Bucco wild mushrooms, a soft-boiled egg, shredded bok choy, Nori and a spicy kimchee mirepoix, topped with a slow-cooked broth.
  • Desserts – To round out the meal, 8 East will serve a selection of desserts ranging from classic creations to creative twists, including Thai Coffee Crème Brûlée, a refreshing Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream and an Asian Tiramisu.
  • Libations 8 East’s beverage selections will feature rare Japanese whiskies and sakes, as well as specialty cocktails. This includes staples such as the Singapore Sling and an Old Fashioned, and a curated wine list featuring natural, biodynamic selections. The drink menu also will highlight a Japanese Whisky tasting flight, offering some of the most impressive Japanese whiskies on the market.

The 1.25-million-square-foot Circa will include a stunning collection of rooms & suites, the world’s largest sportsbook, five original restaurant concepts, six unique beverage spots, Stadium Swim pool amphitheater operating 365 days a year, a high-tech parking garage dubbed “Garage Mahal, two-story casino and more.

–The Neon Museum has announced that its annual fund drive is now underway, with a special incentive to donate this month. Through September 30, The Neon Museum Board of Trustees will match every dollar contributed — up to a total of $30,000.

“Our annual fund is crucial for growth of the museum and we are grateful for the opportunity to double your donations with the help from our Board of Trustees,” said The Neon Museum’s president and chief executive officer, Rob McCoy.

Although the Trustees’ match will conclude at the end of September, the Annual Fund drive will continue into the fall, McCoy noted.

Circa’s Barry’s Downtown Prime Reveals Menu and Design Details Before October 28 Opening

CIRCA’S BARRY’S DOWNTOWN PRIME REVEALS MENU AND DESIGN DETAILS BEFORE OCTOBER 28 OPENING

Vintage glamour and hospitality meet modern American fare at new steakhouse concept from Chef Barry S. Dakake and Make It Happen Hospitality

When Circa Resort & Casino opens its doors October 28, it will include the debut of Vegas’ newest steakhouse, Barry’s Downtown Prime. Created by Las Vegas’ own Chef Barry S. Dakake, Yassine Lyoubi, Marco Cicione and Donnie Rihn, the original concept will be defined by vintage glamour, outstanding service and Chef Dakake’s signature cuisine.

“We wanted to create an experience where the beef is sacred, the charm is old-fashioned and the cocktails are held to the highest standards,” said Chef Dakake. “From the moment guests walk through our doors, they will feel the fun in the atmosphere and see the care we’ve put into each dish we create. This isn’t just any old steakhouse, this is Barry’s.”

Housed in Circa’s secluded bottom floor, Barry’s will evoke a throwback vibe worthy of Downtown’s legacy. Visitors will be brought back to the classic cool of vintage Vegas – where great music and sounds of clinking martini glasses filled the air, the chef greeted you at the table, the bartender knew your favorite cocktail and everyone felt like a VIP.

Inspired by the timeless appeal of Vegas steakhouses, the seductive space will welcome guests via an underground elevator entrance situated directly beneath the larger-than-life restored Vegas Vickie neon sign in Circa’s lobby. Barry’s will feature navy and oxblood tones, warm brown and white oak parquet floors, walnut millwork throughout, burnished brass furnishings and moody antique mirrors. Comfortable booths upholstered with deep velvet jewel tones and rich leathers will be placed throughout the restaurant. A captivating bar lounge will be highlighted by custom wall coverings, marble surfaces and a glitzy, gold ceiling, adding just the right amount of vintage bling.

Showstopping design elements include an illuminated three-dimensional, rose-inspired ceiling and several curated art pieces by local Las Vegas artists, including commissioned work by Jelaine Faunce.

A Glimpse into Barry’s Downtown Prime:

The Menu

Featuring photo-worthy tableside presentations, steakhouse staples, an elevated vegan menu and well-crafted cocktails, Barry’s Downtown Prime’s menu will include a range of offerings that showcase Chef Barry’s undeniable creativity.

  • Decadent Starters – Guests can kick off their meal with appetizers such as the Surf & Turf Sushi Roll made with Maine lobster, peppered beef tenderloin, toasted sesame seeds and fire tartar sauce. Other highlights include a bountiful Chilled Shellfish Platter, delivering Maine lobster, king crab legs, East and West Coast oysters, shrimp cocktail bites, and an octopus and calamari salad, complemented by a spicy cocktail sauce and an apple cider mignonette.

  • Signature Entrées – From steaks aged in-house to sumptuous seafood plates, guests will have a wealth of options. Barry’s Steak – the eatery’s signature cut – will present a 12-ounce Rib Cap meticulously roasted over fruitwood and 900-degree coals. Additional options will include a Tomahawk Ribeye and premium Japanese Wagyu Beef. The Organic Chicken “Mary’s Farm” plate offers a rustic meal topped with mushrooms sautéed in sage butter and a delicious prosciutto crisp. The indulgent Surf and Turf dinner features an 8-ounce filet mignon paired with Maine lobster and served with a homemade roasted garlic aioli and a red wine sauce. Seafood lovers can choose from several coastal creations, including the Sea Scallops sautéed with a Fresno chili-miso glaze and served with steamed bok choy, Napa cabbage and asparagus.
  • Tableside Bites – Diners will be dazzled by a number of tableside presentations including Lobster Flambé, featuring an entire Maine lobster sautéed with rigatoni noodles and a pink vodka sauce. Chef Dakake’s twist on a Steak Diane will see a center cut rib-eye topped with a Worcestershire-brandy mushroom sauce and sliced before patron’s eyes. Dessert options include Baked Alaska Flambé served with strawberry ice cream and Italian meringue; and the Campfire S’mores, which are roasted in front of guests and finished with homemade vanilla ice cream.
  • Vegan Delicacies – Barry’s will feature a top-notch vegan menu with some of the best plant-based dishes in town. The selection will include a Romanesco Broccoli Steak, prepared alongside grilled Moroccan olives, roasted peppers, toasted pine nuts and white raisins. The savory Vegetable Truffle Meatloaf will be cooked with roasted root vegetables and topped with a Rye whiskey mushroom gravy and fresh truffles, amongst other dishes.
  • Indulgent Desserts – Visitors can choose from a selection of sweet treats including the Classic Crème Brûlée, topped with fresh berries and an orange pistachio biscotti; Barry’s Flourless Chocolate Cake, served with blood-orange sorbet; a variety of seasonal, homemade ice creams and sorbets; and more.

  • Imaginative Cocktails Noteworthy cocktails include the BDTP Old Fashioned prepared with rye whiskey, ginger and cherry bitters, cinnamon spice chocolate syrup and garnished with shaved chocolate and brandied cherries. The Watermelon Bees Knees combines Arancia gin and Yuzu liqueur with a light watermelon syrup, honey and lemon juice to create a memorable libation. The Moroccan Lavender Fields Forever cocktail will feature a refreshing combination of gin, Parfait Amour, lavender syrup, lemon and sparkling water.

Plaza Hotel & Casino to host third annual Las Vegas Pickleball Open, Sept. 22-27

Plaza Hotel & Casino to host third annual Las Vegas Pickleball Open, Sept. 22-27

With more pickleball courts than any Las Vegas hotel/casino, the Plaza Hotel & Casino is again the official hotel and title sponsor of the Las Vegas Pickleball Open, set for Sept. 22-27. This year, the tournament is presented by pickleball equipment retailer HEAD and will again offer professional players a competitive prize package of $25,000 split between grand prize, silver and bronze medalists.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, the tournament already has 345 registered amateur and professional players from across the country. At a time when other tournaments are witnessing a decrease in registration of 50 percent or more, registration numbers for the Las Vegas Pickleball Open are more than half of last year’s total. The tournament will also welcome the return of No. 1 ranked men’s pro Ben Johns and No. 1 ranked women’s pro Simone Jardim to play in this year’s tournament.

“The Plaza has built a reputation as a premier pickleball destination. As a result, the Las Vegas Pickleball Open has welcomed hundreds of players from across the globe over the past two years” said Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza Hotel & Casino. “While we face unique challenges this year, I am excited to again welcome the tournament to our rooftop courts. I have no doubt that the players will enjoy a great competition as well as all that the Plaza has to offer, just steps away from the court.”

The tournament will offer men’s, women’s, and mixed amateur doubles matches as well as men’s, women’s, mixed and senior (50-plus) professional doubles matches. Due to COVID-19, spectators are not permitted, but medal matches will be live streamed on www.lasvegaspickleballopen.com.

Additional health and safety precautions will also be in place. Players can arrive to the courts no earlier than 15 minutes prior to their scheduled match, and social distancing will be enforced. Facemasks are required of all staff, referees and players entering/exiting the courts and are highly recommended for players during match play. Already located throughout the property, hand sanitizer stations will also be available on the courts, and new balls will be provided for each match.

Players can register for the tournament at www.lasvegaspickleballopen.com. Participants can also book exclusive hotel packages at the Plaza offering discounted room rates, complimentary room upgrades, a $25 daily food and beverage credit, free slot play and bingo match play. To book and for more details visit: https://www.plazahotelcasino.com/entertainment/pickleball-open/.

A cross between tennis, badminton, and ping pong, pickleball is the fastest growing racquet sport in the U.S., boasting more than three million players – a number that has been growing by more than 10 percent each year over the past decade.

A Luxury Lounge with Unrivaled Views, High-Energy Sports Bar and the Return of Vegas Vickie Punctuate Offerings at New Downtown Las Vegas Integrated Casino-Resort

Opening on October 28, 2020, Circa Resort & Casino – Downtown Las Vegas’ first integrated resort built from the ground up in 40 years – will feature an eclectic beverage program including six original bar, lounge and coffee shop concepts that embody the essence of Downtown Vegas and honor the city’s most iconic eras:

  • Legacy Club, a luxe rooftop lounge celebrating Vegas’ founding fathers with incredible panoramic city views **Opening in December 2020
  • Vegas Vickie’s, an elevated cocktail lounge in Circa’s lobby starring the famed neon cowgirl, Vegas Vickie
  • MEGA BAR, a 165-foot-long bar on Circa’s first floor, claiming the title of Nevada’s longest indoor bar and home to Downtown’s famous flair bartenders
  • Overhang Bar, a sports bar overlooking the world’s largest sportsbook with prime views of its three-story, 78-million-pixel screen
  • Circa Bar, a high-energy drinking destination taking the reins as the longest outdoor bar on the world-famous Fremont Street Experience
  • Jack Pots, a coffee stand created by legendary Detroit restaurateur Paul Saginaw

“Circa was designed to bring our guests an atmosphere of unbridled energy, and you’ll see that heavily reflected in our beverage program,” said Derek Stevens, CEO and Founder of Circa. “No two concepts are alike, but the one thing that will tie every venue together is fun. The best sunset view in Las Vegas will be at Legacy Club’s fire pits overlooking the city, hands down.”

Overseen by Circa’s Director of Beverage, Sam Pulliam, Circa’s beverage program will be defined by excellent cocktails and even better hospitality. Below is a glimpse into what visitors can expect this fall:

Legacy Club

Inspired by Las Vegas’ founding fathers, Legacy Club will overlook the city on Circa’s 35th floor, delivering an elegant rooftop club lounge with a panoramic view of the Downtown skyline. Paying homage to the movers and shakers who helped build Las Vegas, metal busts will line its hall, while spirited black and white photography frames the entrance, leading patrons to the club’s show-stopping attraction: a 10-foot display of 1,000 ounces in gold.

Whether soaking in the intimate spaces inside or taking in the ultimate sunset from a fire pit on the lounge’s outdoor terrace, guests can explore a drink selection showcasing the mixology team’s takes on the classics. Menu highlights will include a build-your-own Old Fashioned and photo-worthy sharable sips.

Legacy Club will open with Circa’s hotel tower in December 2020.

Vegas Vickie’s

Greeting visitors from near and far with a true Las Vegas welcome, Circa’s elevated lobby cocktail lounge will surround the iconic neon Vegas Vickie sign. Making her grand return to Downtown Las Vegas, the celebrated kicking cowgirl first appeared on the dazzling Downtown landscape in 1980 and became a must-see landmark on the Fremont Street Experience. With the goal of uniting old and new Vegas in never-before-seen ways, Stevens acquired the sign in 2016 with the intent to give Vickie a new home at Circa. After a fresh makeover, Vegas Vickie will reside in Circa’s lobby at her namesake bar.

Vegas Vickie’s menu will have a seasonal selection of cocktails, featuring vintage libations inspired by the city. With a bar characterized by elegant mid-century design, warm walnut woods and retro-styled lighting, Vegas Vickie will feel right at home.

MEGA BAR

Located on the first floor of the property, this high-energy space will give guests a chance to watch talented bartenders – known for their dazzling behind-the-bar flair skills – as they send bottles and glasses flying through the air all night long. Nevada’s longest indoor bar spanning 165 feet, MEGA BAR will operate as a sister concept to Stevens’ record-breaking 100-foot LONGBAR at the D Las Vegas. Featuring a back wall lined with narrow, red glass tiles, the space will be outfitted with 53 spots for seated, bar-top gaming; 40 double-stacked TVs for sports fans to catch all the gameday action; and 120 beer taps with a rotating selection.

Overhang Bar

Positioned above Circa’s multi-level sportsbook, Overhang Bar will offer a front-row seat for the book’s massive high-definition screen, measuring 78-million pixels. Ideal for sports fans looking to grab a drink while wagering on their favorite team through Circa Sports, this space will include an overhang ledge lined with poker machines and give onlookers a bird’s eye view of the action. Deep walnut high-top tables will line the long edge of the bar while two wood columns with gold accents anchor the opposite side.

Circa Bar

Located along Fremont Street Experience, guests can get the party started at Circa Bar with one of 24 frozen cocktail flavors served by dancing bartenders, all while watching talented flair bartenders perform in front of a backlit blue-glass wall. Textured golds cover the surface of the back bar, highlighting a terrazzo bar top masterfully culled from recycled Skyy Vodka bottles and other upcycled materials. Guests can grab a frozen beverage from Circa Bar and authentic Carolina barbecue from Circa’s Project BBQ, all while enjoying Downtown Las Vegas’ endless entertainment, including performances on the Main Street stage and free Viva Vision light shows broadcast on the world’s largest video screen above Fremont Street.

Jack Pots

A modern coffee stand with Vegas flair, Jack Pots will keep Circa’s guests buzzing with Michigan’s own Zingerman’s coffee, served alongside a thoughtful selection of freshly made breakfast items, sandwiches and salads. Dreamed up by Detroit-native and renowned restaurateur, Paul Saginaw, and acclaimed Ann Arbor coffee roaster, Steve Mangigian, Jack Pots will give guests a warm and personalized service experience from start to finish. With the help of Mangigian’s expertise, Zingerman’s coffee sources beans from across the globe with a focus on estate-grown and micro-lot coffees. It is then roasted in small batches with techniques tailored to their terroir, geographic and climatic characteristics to develop the most unique and delicious flavors. To create an only-at-Circa experience, Mangigian traveled the world to develop a uniquely delicious custom coffee blend exclusive to the property, which guests can soon enjoy at the resort’s 24-hour café.

The 1.25-million-square-foot Circa will include a stunning collection of rooms & suites, the world’s largest sportsbook, five original restaurant concepts, Stadium Swim pool amphitheater operating 365 days a year, a high-tech parking garage dubbed “Garage Mahal, two-story casino and more.
