LOST VEGAS: TIM BURTON @ THE NEON MUSEUM,” PRESENTED BY THE ENGELSTAD FOUNDATION, EXTENDED THROUGH APRIL 12, 2020

Burton to Return to Las Vegas Jan. 21 to Sign Copies of Newly Available Exhibition Catalog

As a result of ongoing demand, Lost Vegas: Tim Burton @ The Neon Museum presented by the Engelstad Foundation, has been extended through April 12, 2020. Burton will return to the exhibit on Tuesday, Jan. 21 beginning at 1:30 p.m. to sign copies of the brand-new exhibition catalogue “Lost Vegas: Tim Burton @ The Neon Museum” ($29.95), as well as his books “The Art of Tim Burton”($75) and “The Napkin Art of Tim Burton: things you think about in a bar” ($19.99). Advance registration for the book-signing is required and may be done at www.neonmuseum.org beginning Jan. 8, 2020 at 10 a.m. P.S.T.

Lost Vegas: Tim Burton @ The Neon Museum comprises sculptural and digital installations that celebrate Burton’s links to Las Vegas and its historical neon heritage. These artworks, many of which are site-specific creations, are displayed in the Neon Boneyard and incorporated into Brilliant!, the museum’s permanent projection mapping North Gallery installation. Works play with the museum’s landmark sign collection, which was prominently featured in Burton’s 1996 film Mars Attacks! This irreverent homage to the sci-fi B-movies of the 1950s and 1960s and the disaster films of the 1970s unleashed gleefully destructive alien invaders upon gamblers, casino workers and Tom Jones. The presentation of Burton’s art in Las Vegas represents a unique experience where the host institution also serves as creative inspiration. The museum’s distinctive campus has been transformed through the artist’s singular vision for this original exhibition of new work as well as previously exhibited pieces.

Tim Burton is widely regarded as one of cinema’s most imaginative and visual filmmakers. He has achieved both critical and financial success in the live-action and animation genres. Burton’s accomplishments in filmmaking are a consequence of his artistic eye. Long before becoming a director, he expressed himself through drawing and painting, which also became an integral part of his creative process. Burton’s past exhibitions have drawn millions of patrons around the world in cities such as Melbourne, Los Angeles, Paris, Prague, Tokyo, São Paulo and Mexico City. His exhibition at MoMA in New York City drew over 800,000 visitors, making it the third most attended exhibition ever.

Fremont Street Experience Unveils Stunning New 3D Graphics and $32 Million Upgraded Viva Vision Canopy

FREMONT STREET EXPERIENCE UNVEILS STUNNING NEW 3D GRAPHICS
AND $32 MILLION UPGRADED VIVA VISION CANOPY

Downtown Las Vegas will light up on New Year’s Eve when Fremont Street Experience debuts an entirely new collection of stunning visuals and 3D graphics created exclusively for its $32 million renovation of Viva Vision, the world’s largest single video screen.

“The redevelopment of the iconic Viva Vision canopy is a major milestone for Fremont Street Experience and the City of Las Vegas,” said Patrick Hughes, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fremont Street Experience. “With Fremont Street Experience attracting more than 24 million visitors a year, we’re really looking forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the entire community while breathing new life into downtown Las Vegas.”

By fusing Watchfire Signs’ cutting-edge technology with Contend’s innovative graphics, the jaw-dropping content will exploit 49.3 million LEDs alongside a state-of-the-art, 600,000-watt, concert-quality sound system. A highlight of the innovative content is the multi-sensory signature show, “MIXology.” The groundbreaking show concept was inspired by “synesthesia,” a perceptual phenomenon where music, art and emotion collide to create an immersive, multi-sensory experience on a grand scale.

“We had to get very creative when developing a product that would meet all the distinctive needs for Viva Vision and the success of this project is proof of what Watchfire stands for,” said Steve Harriott, President and Chief Executive Officer of Watchfire Signs.

“Fremont Street Experience and the Viva Vision canopy are totally unique in this world. The scale, the screen, the audio and the overall environment make this a world class destination that deserves to be at the top of every list of must-see Vegas experiences,” said Bill Wadsworth, Head of Immersive Experience of Contend.

Spanning five city blocks above one of the most vibrant streets in Las Vegas, the revitalized canopy will illuminate the pedestrian mall with 16,433,152 pixels and 5,000 Nits, making it seven times brighter than the existing canopy with four times the resolution allowing the screen to be seen 24 hours a day for the first time in its existence.

“The role that Fremont Street Experience plays in Las Vegas’ entertainment landscape is undeniable,” said Derek Stevens, CEO of the D Las Vegas, Golden Gate Hotel & Casino and the upcoming Circa Resort & Casino. “As we get ready for a thrilling 2020, we are excited about the upgraded Viva Vision and the incredible new experience it will deliver to the millions of guests that visit each year. It is something you truly will have to see to believe.”

In partnership with the City of Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Conventions and Visitors Authority, Fremont Street Experience will host the official unveiling of the $32 million renovation of Viva Vision on Dec. 31, 2019 during America’s Party Downtown presented by iHeart Media Las Vegas. Tickets for America’s Party Downtown are on sale now and can be purchased at VegasExperience.com/nye for $35 (plus tax and fee).

ABOUT THE UNDERGROUND
The Underground is an immersive Prohibition history experiential exhibition, featuring a distillery, speakeasy and private VIP room located in the basement of The Mob Museum and sponsored by Zappos. Its custom-made, copper-pot still, dubbed “Virginia Still” after mobster Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel’s notorious girlfriend Virginia Hill, has a capacity of 60 gallons and can serve up to 250 750-mL jars of moonshine per week. The Underground also brews and serves craft beer onsite. Artifacts from the 1920s and 1930s on display tell the intriguing story of the Prohibition era, which not only saw a proliferation of bootlegged booze and the meteoric growth of organized crime outfits, but also had a profound, lasting impact on society and culture. Complimentary entrance to The Underground is granted at the secret side entrance to visitors who know the correct password, which is published daily on Instagram Stories @MobMuseum_Underground. Fremont Street Experience offers free live entertainment on three stages 365 days per year and features Viva Vision, the world’s largest single video screen – 1,500 feet long, 90 feet wide and suspended 90 feet above the urban pedestrian mall. In partnership with the City of Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Conventions and Visitors Authority, the $32 million renovation to the iconic Viva Vision screen, which will be completed for the unveiling on Dec. 31, 2019, will illuminate downtown Las Vegas with 16,433,152 pixels and 5,000 Nits, making it seven-times brighter than the existing canopy with four-times the resolution allowing the screen to be seen 24 hours a day for the first time in its existence. The one-of-a-kind venue is also home to SlotZilla, the world’s most unique zipline attraction featuring an 850-foot Zipline and 1,750-foot Zoomline, which launches riders from a 12-story slot-machine-themed platform, representing the largest slot machine in the world, to fly under the iconic Viva Vision canopy. With direct pedestrian access to eight of Fremont Street’s world-renowned casino hotels, more than 70 restaurants and specialty retail kiosks, Fremont Street Experience attracts more than 24 million annual visitors.
