After a successful weekend at the Spokane Showcase, the UNLV track & field team will gear up for their next competition coming up at the end of the week in Flagstaff, Ariz. The program will participate in the Lumberjack Team Challenge on Friday, Jan. 19, a one-day meet hosted by Northern Arizona University.

The meet will kick off with the field events starting at 2 p.m., Mackenzie Okonta and Camryn Harris taking off first in the women’s long jump. The duo will soon after compete in the women’s triple jump before the women’s weight throw starts around 3 p.m. Madelynn Wattles will represent the Scarlet & Gray in the weight throw, Roxene Simpson entering the circle following the men’s weight throw for the women’s shot put.

The Rebels will send 13 different student-athletes in the 60m and 60m hurdles combined; Delaysia Allen, Jaydea Carter and Okonta first representing UNLV in the 60m hurdles’ preliminary round at 4 p.m. Kennedi Porter will look to make her second-straight 60m final this season after the hurdles’ prelim conclusion, competing alongside Shakeira Bowra, Aja Melo-Powell, Jana Lakner, Endya Scott, Sophia Alexander, Sadia Green, Malika Mashack, Kamari Sherwood, Harris, Allen and Carter. Student-athletes who finish in the top eight spots in the previously mentioned events will qualify for the final round later in the day.

Between the aforementioned prelims and finals round, UNLV will compete in a pair of events including the women’s mile and the women’s 600m, Aitza Romero being the lone Rebel competing in the latter.
