Vegas PBS will present the virtual art show, Rita Asfour: A Retrospective on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 6 p.m

Vegas PBS, in conjunction with the Carnevale Gallery, will be hosting a special virtual art show on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 6 p.m. in memory of artist Rita Asfour. Attendees will be able to see Asfour’s art, watch a documentary about her life and have the opportunity to support Vegas PBS by purchasing her paintings.

Rita Asfour, who passed away on June 29, 2021, was a local artist whose artwork captured the ethereal and carefree essence of Las Vegas showgirls and dancers. Born in Egypt in 1933, Asfour had a long artistic career in Los Angeles and retired in Las Vegas in 2012. But after seeing the classic Vegas revue, Jubilee!, she was inspired to paint again. Her art has been exhibited at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and she was the subject of Vegas PBS original documentary Rita Asfour: Art Her Way.

As a tribute to Asfour, Vegas PBS will present the virtual art show, Rita Asfour: A Retrospective on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 6 p.m. This event is organized and hosted in cooperation with the Carnevale Gallery, where Asfour’s paintings are currently on display. After an exhibit of the artwork during the virtual event, there will be a screening of Vegas PBS’ original documentary, Rita Asfour: Art Her Way. The Carnevale Gallery has pledged at least 25% of all proceeds to Vegas PBS for the entire month of September, including in person and online sales of prints and original paintings. The funds will help support Vegas PBS arts programming. Rita’s Asfour’s art can be purchased here.
