Vegas StrEATs Festival – Saturday, Oct. 13
El Cortez hosts the monthly Vegas StrEATs food-truck, arts and music festival on the Jackie Gaughan Parkway from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. Many of Las Vegas’ favorite food trucks participate in Vegas StrEATs each month along with local art and clothing vendors from across the city. For the October event, special guest Johnny Cupcakes will bring his 2012 Coffin Tour to Vegas StrEATs by setting up a pop-up shop with exclusive Halloween inspired T-shirts and goodies.
In addition to the food trucks, live entertainment will be provided by DJ ZO, Air Stegosaurus, MIKEATTACK, Trade Voorhees, Ecid, Hassan, Shanestream and more. Verizon Wireless is hosting a Battle of The Beats “DJ” Contest with contestants EDOC, Technicolor, DJ G-Kid and BPSS will competing to win $2,000. Adrenaline Unleashed wrestling will also be showcasing a two-hour show with a six-sided steel cage match.
Presented by El Cortez, Slidin’ Thru and Insert Coin(s) VideoLounge Gamebar, Vegas StrEATs brings food, live art and music to the Fremont East Entertainment District. Drink specials throughout the festival include $3 Bud Light, Shock Top and Bud Light Lime, $4 Jameson Irish Whiskey, Jagermeister and 1800 Silver Tequila shots and $2 Pepsi products.
Jackie Gaughan Celebrates His 92nd Birthday – Wednesday, Oct. 24
In celebration of legendary casino owner Jackie Gaughan’s 92nd birthday, El Cortez will serve free birthday cake and champagne for all guests on Wednesday, Oct. 24 from noon to 6 p.m. Guests can also sign a giant birthday card to celebrate one of Las Vegas’ original pioneers.
Karaoke Fridays and Saturdays inside The Parlour
The Parlour inside El Cortez becomes downtown Las Vegas’ go-to destination for karaoke every Friday and Saturday at 10 p.m. throughout October. From classics hits to today’s chart toppers, brave patrons can entertain their friends and other guests of The Parlour during this intimate Friday night party.
Award-Winning Elvis Presley Tribute
John Brooks, an award-winning Elvis Presley tribute artist, performs inside The Parlour every Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m.

Jackie’s Jackets for Jackpot Winners in October
Throughout October, Club Cortez players winning a jackpot of $200 or more on a slot machine, a $200 or more jackpot on a video poker five-cent or lower denomination machine, a $300 or more jackpot on a video poker ten-cent or high denomination machine or a $200 or more jackpot on live keno will receive a free El Cortez-logo jacket. Free Cannolis for Club Cortez Players – Monday, Oct. 8
El Cortez Hotel & Casino is serving free cannolis to celebrate Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 8. Club Cortez members can enjoy the cannolis while they play slots and table games, and the complimentary desserts will be served from noon to 6 p.m.
Fresh Stone Crab Returns to The Flame – Friday, Oct. 19
The Flame Steakhouse welcomes the return of its weekly, fresh jumbo stone crab dinner special on Friday, Oct. 19. Stone crab is flown in fresh from Florida every week for the Friday and Saturday nightly dinner special, which is available for only $28 per pound and served with cottage fries and coleslaw.
$5 Burger and Beer Special at Café Cortez
For $5, guests can enjoy a half-pound Jackie Burger, chips and a 12-ounce domestic draft beer inside Café Cortez. The $5 burger and beer special is available 24 hours.
New Café Cortez Take-Out Menu
Café Cortez inside El Cortez Hotel and Casino now offers a daily take-out menu available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The take-out menu features a variety of cuisine, such as:
- Appetizers: chicken quesadilla, $8.25; Cajun chicken wings, $7.50; shrimp cocktail, $8.50; and more
- Salads: Greek Salad, $8.95; Chinese chicken salad, $8.95; and more

Monday Night Football Specials at El Cortez
El Cortez will offer specials including $1 Budweiser and Bud Light drafts and $1 Vienna Beef hot dogs for all Monday Night Football games during the 2012 – 2013 football season. In addition, halftime drawings will be held during each game where guests can win jerseys and other prizes.
Friends of The Smith Center Enjoy Benefits at El Cortez
El Cortez Hotel & Casino welcomes friends of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts to downtown Las Vegas by extending on-property benefits to show-goers. Individuals who show an official “Friends of the Smith Center” card or Smith Center show tickets and stubs on the same date as a performance can receive a $10 discount on an entrée at The Flame Steakhouse, a complimentary cocktail inside The Parlour, and a complimentary additional night’s stay after booking a one-night stay at El Cortez.

Club Cortez players have an opportunity every week to win $500, $300, $200 or $100 in promotional chips. There will two $100 prizes offered in total for fourth and fifth place. During the week, entry tickets in the drawing can be earned during blackjack, roulette and baccarat. During blackjack, tickets are distributed to players when the dealer receives a blackjack, during roulette, tickets are distributed to players when a 0 or 00 is hit, and during baccarat, players receive a ticket every time a “tie” hand is dealt.
