Industry trendsetter, Clique Hospitality, has announced Wax Rabbit, an immersive cocktail lounge that will be hidden behind the walls of Mijo Modern Mexican Restaurant. Poised to enhance the dynamic lineup at Durango Casino & Resort in southwest Las Vegas, Wax Rabbit will bring together embellished cocktails, enchanting design and DJs playing vinyl records when it opens Tuesday, Nov. 21.
“Wax Rabbit will reveal a cool, intimate atmosphere that will bring back the lost art of DJs spinning mixes on vinyl albums, revisiting a time their talents were on display with every mix,” said Andy Masi, founder of Clique Hospitality. “You’ll find the sense of being at an underground bar paired with Mexico’s finest spirits and exceptional drinks.”
Cutting-edge mixology will pair the rich flavors of classic libations with Mexico’s finest spirits, highlighting the flavors of expertly curated mezcals and tequilas. Cocktails, which include a Oaxacan old fashioned and tequila añejo negroni, will honor Mexico’s rich spirits heritage, while extravagant cocktails designed for sharing will tantalize guests’ taste buds. DJs will spin music that spans genres on ‘wax,’ as vinyl records were dubbed during the rise of the underground bar scene in the ‘80s. DJs will be on the turntables at Wax Rabbit every night; delivering mixes that evoke a sense of nostalgia.
Designed by world-renowned Italo-Canadian designer, Alessandro Munge, and his award-winning firm, Studio Munge, Wax Rabbit boasts exquisite, seductive design that will captivate the senses throughout the intimate, 1,000-square-foot lounge. A terracotta brick corridor adorned with a marigold flower art installation will lead to a vault, where private wooden tequila lockers line the walls from floor to ceiling.
The vault leads to a hidden entrance, where one must “find the right rabbit to pull” to enter this world of music and libations. Inside, arched double-height mirrors on both sides of the room will create an infinite reflection effect pierced by a bespoke luminous rabbit emblem. Art and accessories are thoughtfully integrated into the space, with rabbit artifacts strategically placed throughout.
