MGM Resorts International Teams Up with Nevada Public Radio to Provide Nearly 63,000 Meals to Three Square Food Bank
A collaboration between Three Square Food Bank, MGM Resorts International (MGM Resorts) and Nevada Public Radio resulted in 62,956 meals donated to Southern Nevadans struggling with hunger.
According to Feeding America, in a typical year, one in eight Nevadans is affected by hunger, but this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, food insecurity has significantly increased across Southern Nevada. Currently, one in five people don’t know where their next meal is coming from and one in three children is now living in a food insecure household.
During Nevada Public Radio’s 2020 Fall Fund Drive, members had the option to donate meals to Three Square in lieu of receiving traditional thank you gifts when they made their pledge of support, with MGM Resorts wholly covering the value of the nearly 63,000 meals. Three Square is Southern Nevada’s only food bank, providing food assistance to the residents of Lincoln, Nye, Esmeralda and Clark counties.
