22nd Annual “98.5 KLUC Chet Buchanan Show Toy Drive” Collects Outstanding
Number of Donations Benefitting HELP of Southern Nevada
The 22nd annual “98.5 KLUC Chet Buchannan Show Toy Drive” benefitting HELP of Southern Nevada exceeded expectations with the 12-day event filling 42 50-foot Coca Cola trucks with new toys, 6,533 bicycles and $516,170 in gift cards and monetary donations. This year’s drive-through Toy Drive, presented by Venetian and Sands Cares, set records in contributions made for those most in need the local community.
“We are overwhelmed with this year’s support of the ‘98.5 KLUC Chet Buchannan Show Toy Drive,’” said HELP of Southern Nevada President and CEO, Fuilala Riley. “The community really showed up for one another and has made it possible for HELP of Southern Nevada to provide holiday cheer to over 2,500 local families as well as 79 nonprofit agencies throughout the valley with toys, bikes and gift cards. We are grateful for Chet, Entercom, Venetian and Sands Cares’ support along with everyone who donated just one more toy, bike and gift card at this year to Toy Drive.
This holiday season now more than ever the Las Vegas community is in need of support and holiday cheer. For 12 days, radio host Chet Buchanan lived high above the annual Toy Drive atop of a scaffolding platform in the NV Energy parking lot on W. Sahara while listeners, businesses and supporters drove through and donated new and unwrapped toys, gift cards, cash donations and bikes for children, from newborns to 18 years old.
The donations from the “98.5 Chef Buchannan Show Toy Drive” will be distributed to 79 nonprofit organizations in Southern Nevada and 2,500 pre-qualified families by HELP of Southern Nevada.
