Showcasing the diverse, tantalizing flavors of coastal Mexico, Mijo Modern Mexican Restaurant at Durango Casino & Resort will celebrate Father’s Day with a limited-time dessert crafted to honor dads on Sunday, June 16. Mijo will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Father’s Day. Reservations are available now.

The Cigarro de Papá is a chocolatey, buttery cigar-shaped delight made from delicate flaky layers of phyllo dough filled with a rich and smooth dark chocolate añejo mousse, served alongside a set of shortbread cookie “matches” and priced at $16.

Mijo’s signature twists on coastal Mexican flavors include several favorites among dads, including beef enchiladas, made with tender short rib, queso fresco and ranchero sauce; birria short rib made with slow-cooked beef, corn purée, pickled onion and cotija cheese; and carne asada made with a 10-ounce prime grilled skirt steak, chili butter and salsa verde. Other signature dishes include sea bass ceviche, made with tomatoes, cucumber, corn, onions, avocado and leche de tigre; the fire-roasted shrimp tacos made with grilled shrimp, cabbage, chipotle aioli, pico de gallo and fire-roasted salsa, or the 2-pound Puerto Nuevo grilled lobster made with butter poached & grilled lobster, chili lobster cream sauce and lemon.
