Last night (Tuesday, July 11), Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at Downtown Summerlin hosted its “Summer of Beer” event, the second of its three-part dinner series with beer partner Joseph James Brewing Co. (JJBC). The evening introduced guests to the local brewery’s seasonal selections expertly matched with Executive Chef Spencer Rudow’s Summertime picnic-themed menu favorites.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m. guests were presented with welcome appetizers paired with the Citra Rye Ale as they were shown to the dining room to take their seat. Joseph James Brewing Co.’s representative Jon Simmons kicked off the meal with some opening remarks on the brewery’s beer varieties they were about to taste, while Chef Rudow discussed the courses planned for the evening.
The first course of Corn & crab salad with piquillo vinaigrette, cherry tomatoes and avocado purée was served set to the pairing of JJBC’s Blood Orange & Cranberry Berliner Weisse. Course two gave way to the highly anticipated mains, featuring a generous helping of Buttermilk fried chicken, BBQ baby back ribs and traditional picnic sides such as four cheese mac n’ cheese, housemade slaw, grilled vegetables and warm cornbread all set to the refreshing accompaniment of Hop Box Imperial IPA and Weize Guy Hefeweizen. Last but not least was the dessert course highlighting a Brownie sundae with Bing cherry ice cream and chocolate sauce paired with JJBC’s rich and flavorful “I’m Out” Imperial Stout.
As guests made their way out of the venue and the event concluded, a customary pint glass from the brewer was presented to each attendee to take home with them.
The final beer dinner is planned with Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Tuesday, August 8 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the restaurant at 702.202.6300 or visiting Bar & Grill’s event link at http://wolf.pk/summerofbeer.
