SLS LAS VEGAS HIRES EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF HOTEL SALES MICHAEL TONEY
Fully Integrated Resort and Casino will Offer more than 35,000 Square Feet of Meeting and Convention Space
Renowned hospitality leader sbe has hired Michael Toney as executive director of hotel sales for SLS Las Vegas. sbe broke ground on the redevelopment of SLS last month. The property is slated to open in fall 2014, featuring more than 1,600 guest rooms and suites and 35,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.

Toney brings a wealth of sales experience in the Las Vegas market to SLS, having most recently served as corporate vice president of hotel sales at Station Casinos. In this position, Toney was responsible for developing and implementing the booking strategy, goals, market segmentation, production and procedures for each of the company’s 10 hotel properties, while commanding a sales force of 65 individuals.
Prior to Station Casinos, Toney was vice president of hotel sales for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, where he oversaw operation of the group, leisure and catering sales departments. He also played a significant role in the developmental phase of Hard Rock’s most recent hotel and meeting space expansion.
Toney established his hotel sales presence in Las Vegas with Mandalay Bay. Hired on as the first member of the trade show sales team, he was responsible for luring trade shows throughout the nation to the city’s newest convention center.
Destined to become one of the most energetic hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, SLS is a high-style collaboration between sbe founder, chairman and CEO Sam Nazarian; renowned design icon Philippe Starck; James Beard award-winning chef José Andrés; and globally acclaimed Gensler Architects.
Among key elements of SLS Las Vegas will be a collection of restaurant concepts including The Bazaar by José Andrés, Katsuya by Starck and Umami Burger. Also joining the restaurant collection is The Griddle Café, which has taken on a cult-like status in LA for its acclaimed breakfast, lunch, dessert and cocktail menus. SLS Las Vegas will offer four nightlife experiences, including a reinvention of sbe’s original nightlife concept, Shelter, and The Sayers Club, regarded as Los Angeles’ most exclusive live music venue. The property also will offer a 10,000-square foot Fred Segal retail experience, featuring seven Fred Segal-branded boutiques, with a wide range of stylish merchandise across various categories. Fred Segal will be the exclusive retailer for SLS Las Vegas.
SLS Las Vegas will join sbe’s family of existing hotel properties including SLS Hotel Beverly Hills and The Redbury in Los Angeles, and The Raleigh and SLS Hotel South Beach (touted as one of the top hotel openings of 2012) in Miami. sbe has forthcoming hotel and restaurant projects currently in development in New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., Seattle, Philadelphia, Austin, the Middle East and Asia.
