Kentucky Derby Handicapping Seminar – Friday, May 2
The South Point Race Book will hold a “Kentucky Derby Handicapping” seminar on Friday, May 2 from 6 to 7 p.m. Hosted by John Kelly, the seminar offers race enthusiasts a preview of the competing horses in addition to a thorough breakdown of the each horse’s storyline and racing history. Kentucky Derby Viewing Party – Saturday, May 3
The South Point Hotel will host a viewing party in the Grand Ballroom for horse racing fans during the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 3 starting at 8 a.m. Throughout the day, fans can celebrate the most exciting horse racing event of the year in the company of professional handicappers Patrick McQuiggan, Toby Turrell and Tom Quigley. South Point will offer on-site wagering stations and complimentary drinks for guests who place a minimum $20 wager. During the viewing party, South Point will offer a variety of food and drinks specials: $1 hot dogs, $3 slices of pizza and $5 Subs. All viewing parties are free and open to the public. Amateur National Arenacross Championship – Sunday, May 4
The world’s fastest amateur AMSOIL Arenacross riders take over the South Point Arena during the 15th Amateur National Arenacross Championships (ANAC) on Sunday, May 4 at 8 a.m. Only the top amateur Arenacross riders from around the country are invited to compete for an American Motorcyclist Association National Championship title. Fans will experience an action-packed day of competition between a wide range of ages and skill levels. Tickets are on sale and available for $35. Cheer Power “Varsity: Vegas Nation’s Best Individual Competition” – Saturday, May 18
The South Point Arena hosts the Cheer Power “Varsity: Vegas Nation’s Best Individual Competition” on Saturday, May 18 starting at 9 a.m. Throughout the day athletes of all ages will compete in various categories including “Varsity Elite Best Cheerleader,” “Varsity Best Cheerleader,” “Varsity Tumble Pass/Jump Only,” “Varsity Cheer Only/Crowd Pleaser” and “Varsity Best Dancer Jazz/Lyrical/Hip-Hop.” The highest scoring participant will receive a $500 prize in addition to a $1,000 college scholarship. The recipient will be determined based upon an essay on “What Cheerleading/Dancing Means to Me” and an on-stage interview. There is a $20 entry fee for adults, and children six and under are free. BADASS Dash Adventure Race and Obstacle Challenge – Saturday, May 24
The South Point Arena will transform into a 7K obstacle course on Saturday, May 24 at 8 a.m. as it hosts the BADASS Dash Adventure Race and Obstacle Challenge. The race, known to benefit Autism Speaks, has partnered with local nonprofit Dave Rice Foundation in an effort to raise awareness for Autism and its effects on individuals, families and society. The Badass Dash will create a variety of different obstacles and divisions for all ages and levels, including the Kids Dash Division, Recreation Division, K-9 Companion Division and the Elite Division. NBHA Presents “Professional’s Choice Vegas Super Show” and Western Gift Show – May 29 – June 1
The National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) “Professional’s Choice Vegas Super Show” stirs up excitement at the South Point Arena, Thursday, May 29 through Sunday, June 1 starting at 8 a.m. each day. This exciting event showcases the best barrel racing horses around. During the show, guests will have the opportunity to exhibit and purchase a variety of Western influenced items at the Western Gift Show. This event is free and open to the public. Rocky Mountain Gun Show – May 31 and June 1
The Rocky Mountain Gun Show returns to South Point Hotel, Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1. The two-day exhibit offers outdoor adventurers, gun enthusiasts and hunters access to one of the world’s largest displays of ammunition, apparel and machinery. “Door Buster” prizes will be given to the first 200 guests, including boxes of ammunition, weaponry cleaning kits, shirts and more.
