Restaurateurs and Foodies United to Help Raise More than $230,000 During Las Vegas Restaurant Week

Restaurateurs and Foodies United to Help Raise More than $230,000 During Las Vegas Restaurant Week

The results of Las Vegas Restaurant Week are in! From posh Las Vegas Strip eateries to local favorites, 172 restaurants across the valley joined the fight against hunger during the culinary event, raising a record-breaking total of more than $230,000 for Southern Nevada’s only food bank.

This year’s proceeds will help Three Square provide approximately 690,000 meals to the more than 271,000 food insecure residents in Southern Nevada. Since its inception in 2007, Restaurant Week has raised a total of nearly $1.6 million.

From June 18-29, restaurants across the valley offered prix-fixe menus at price points ranging from $20 to $80, with a fixed portion of each meal’s cost supporting Three Square’s mission of providing meals to the one in eight Las Vegans who struggle with hunger. Also, 20 restaurants extended their participation in Restaurant Week through July 6. This included venues at the Venetian and Palazzo Las Vegas, Westgate, Table 34, The Pasta Shop Ristorante and Chef Marc’s Trattoria.

Restaurant Week newcomers, such as Nobu, Black Tap and District One, joined longtime participants including Honey Salt, Tommy Bahama, and Zuma. This year’s top earners include Mesa Grill, Mon Ami Gabi, Charlie Palmer and Buddy V’s Ristorante.

About Las Vegas Restaurant Week and Three Square
Las Vegas Restaurant Week began in 2007 as a way to give locals and tourists the opportunity to help out by dining out. 2018 marked the 12th installment of Las Vegas Restaurant Week, which featured a variety of fine dining experiences throughout the Valley. Proceeds from Restaurant Week benefit Three Square, Southern Nevada’s only food bank. Three Square currently provides more than 37 million meals – the equivalent of more than 45 million pounds of food and grocery product – per year to more than 1,600 community partners including nonprofit and faith-based organizations, schools and feeding sites throughout Southern Nevada. Three Square is a member of the Feeding America network of food banks. For additional information visit www.threesquare.org or www.helpoutdineoutlv.org.

Three Square Food Bank Works to Bag Childhood Hunger with ‘Fashion For Three Square’

Three Square Food Bank Works to Bag Childhood Hunger with ‘Fashion For Three Square’
Seventh annual event transformed Three Square headquarters into elegant social gathering in support of longstanding charitable campaign to benefit children in need

On Saturday, May 5, “Fashion for Three Square,” a special event underwritten by the Bennett Family Foundation, transformed Three Square’s north campus, which ordinarily houses operations, volunteering, food rescue, warehousing and distribution, into a grand party venue. The gathering featured elegant décor, fashion models, entertainment and local culinary tastes as attendees supported the Bag Childhood Hunger campaign, now in its seventh year.

The event featured fashions by Etro, presented by Neiman Marcus, along with food provided by top Las Vegas restaurants including: Blue Ribbon, STK, Buddy V’s Ristorante, La Strega, Libertine Social and Carnevino. In addition, Three Square’s executive chef John Hilton and his team prepared live dishes at the food bank’s demonstration kitchen & atrium. One of Three Square’s storage coolers was converted into an ice bar, featuring Artisanal Foods and Tito’s Handmade Vodka. MGM Resorts International provided an array of sweet treats. The event also welcomed entertainment from Las Vegas-based soul singer Jessica Manalo; Strip headliners The Australian Bee Gees, who performed hits from one of the most successful acts in musical history, the Bee Gees; and students from the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts.

Contributions made to Three Square’s Bag Childhood Hunger Campaign, which continues through May 31, will be used right here in Southern Nevada and will have double the impact thanks to a generous $500,000 contribution to match gifts toward the food bank’s goal to raise $2 million.

The Bag Childhood Hunger campaign supports one of the most vulnerable populations in Southern Nevada, children. Proper nutrition for children is critical as hunger can cause lasting physical and mental challenges. One in four children in Southern Nevada live in households that are food insecure. Additionally, more than 62 percent of children in Clark County schools are enrolled in free or reduced-price meal programs. That’s more than 203,000 students.

In its 10th year fighting hunger, Three Square is able to provide three meals for every dollar donated to the food bank. Thanks to the support of matching sponsors throughout this campaign, Three Square will be able to provide six meals for every dollar donated.

To make a donation to Bag Childhood Hunger and for further information about Three Square’s childhood nutrition programs, visit www.bagchildhunger.org or call 702.644.3663, ext. 334.

A national model project inspired by Founder Eric Hilton with a grant provided by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, Three Square is a community collaborative partnership with businesses, nonprofit agencies, food distributors, higher education institutions, the Clark County School District, governmental entities, the media and thousands of volunteers to efficiently and effectively work together to serve those in our community struggling with hunger.
