Description: He was raised in the Mafia. Mentored by John Gotti. Partied with rock stars. Then it all came crashing down. For a limited time, Anthony Ruggiano Jr. — son of notorious Gambino capo Anthony “Fat Andy” Ruggiano — is telling his story live at the Museum. Growing up in Ozone Park, Queens, New York, Ruggiano Jr. always knew he was not just any kid. He was Fat Andy’s son, but it wasn’t until he was a young teen that he understood what that meant. Fat Andy was a highly respected caporegime in the Gambino Family when Ruggiano Jr. followed him into the life, where money, violence and prison time were part of the job.
With risk comes reward. During his time with the Gambinos, Ruggiano Jr. became accustomed to the high life, dreaming of becoming made as he partied his way across New York City under John Gotti’s wing, rubbing shoulders with stars like Diana Ross, Keith Richards and Mick Jagger. Eventually, reality kicked in. Hit with multiple convictions, accompanying prison sentences, time away from his kids and a bad drug habit, Ruggiano Jr. realized that this lifestyle had taken a toll. Now decades out of the Mob life, he’ll talk about his journey from a life of crime to one of sobriety and redemption.

ABOUT THE UNDERGROUND
The Underground is an immersive Prohibition history exhibition featuring a speakeasy, distillery and private VIP room in the basement of The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement. Artifacts from the 1920s and 1930s tell the intriguing story of the Prohibition era, which not only saw a proliferation of bootlegged booze and the meteoric growth of organized crime outfits but also had a profound, lasting impact on society, specifically making way for modern cocktail culture. A seasonal cocktail menu gives guests the opportunity to try contemporary takes on classic Prohibition-era cocktails. The menu and atmosphere have landed the speakeasy on several “best cocktail bars in Las Vegas” lists. Distillery tastings allow participants to learn about Prohibition and its impact on a variety of spirits and drinking habits while tasting a few of the Museum’s moonshines. The distilling program has received numerous accolades, including “Best Moonshine” at the 2020 International Whiskey Competition, “Best in Class” and “Gold” and “Silver Medals” at the 2024 American Distilling Institute’s International Spirits Competition and “Gold” and “Silver Medals” at the 2022, 2023 and 2024 California Craft Spirits Competition. Complimentary entrance to The Underground is granted at the secret side door to visitors who know the password, which is published daily on Instagram Stories @MobMuseum_Underground.
