The 2017-18 season marks the second under head coach Marvin Menzies for the Runnin’ Rebels. Menzies and his staff have brought in a recruiting class for this year that has been ranked as high as No. 12 in the country and features McDonald’s High School All-American Brandon McCoy and National Junior College Player of the Year Shakur Juiston. The Runnin’ Rebels return their leading scorer from last season – senior guard Jovan Mooring. Mooring averaged 12.6 points per game in 2016-17 and led the team in assists with 4.0 apg (second in the Mountain West).
UNLV is averaging 98.0 ppg this season and has scored 91 or more points in all four of its games. Five Runnin’ Rebels are averaging double figures, led by McCoy’s 20.0 ppg.
