A (p)awesome experience awaits all pooches as MGM Resorts International launches its new dog-friendly program across all of its Las Vegas properties as well as MGM Springfield (Mass.), Beau Rivage Resort & Casino (Biloxi, Miss.) and MGM Detroit. The expanded dog program introduces an elevated level of service for four-legged guests throughout their stay, allowing pet parents to take their furry friends on the road during the next family getaway.

Upon arrival, parents will receive complimentary treats for their canine with a map of relief areas as well as information on doggie concierge services and other amenities such as dog bowls and dog mats.

When Fido’s human companions are ready to enjoy the many experiences throughout MGM Resorts’ properties, they need not worry about leaving their pooch behind, with a selection of services including:

  • Check In and Check Up: A doggie concierge will check in on pups while guests are away and send a text message with photo confirmation. The cost for this service is $25.
  • Dog Walking: Each resort’s concierge is happy to arrange dog-walking services for Fido through a preferred service provider.

The MGM Resorts dog program is limited to two dogs per room with a maximum combined weight of less than 100 pounds. Dogs cannot be left unattended in rooms at any time unless placed in a kennel or carrier and must be fully housetrained. Outside of rooms or suites, dogs must always be kept on a leash.

Dog-friendly rooms and suites at MGM Resorts properties are available for an upgrade of $50-$175 per day, per dog, depending on the property and can be reserved by going to MGMResorts.com/dog or by calling 1.855.788.6775.

Fly, drive, take a train, or even a cross-country road trip via taxi (like Phoebe & Joey in her Yellow Cab) to Las Vegas for a one-of-a-kind Friends 25th Anniversary celebration in the Entertainment Capital of the World, October 18-19. Warner Bros. Television Group joins AT&T and MGM Resorts International to offer fans a phenomenal Friends 25th Vegas takeover in all its glory, including new fan experiences powered by AT&T 5G.

In the fifth and sixth seasons of the hit comedy series, the Friends gang headed west to Las Vegas to visit Joey on the set of his movie. What happened there 10 years ago, however, did not stay there. In the two-part season five finale, Monica and Chandler took a roll of the dice and impulsively decided to get married –– only to discover that they were beaten to the chapel by a very drunk Ross and Rachel. In the season six premiere, the gang faced the consequences of the night before, while Joey and Phoebe headed back to New York in her grandfather’s Yellow Cab.

Visitors to Las Vegas can relive some of those moments –– minus any last-minute weddings –– in a weekend celebration of all things Friends October 18-19. Experiences planned for the Friends in Vegas weekend include:

Friday, October 18 

The Fountains of Bellagio

“I’ll be there for you, when the rain starts to pour…” On Friday, Oct. 18, the iconic Fountains of Bellagio will unveil a brand-new show set to the catchy Friends theme song, “I’ll Be There For You” by The Rembrandts. Created by WET Design, the show will debut at sunset on Friday and run on rotation throughout the weekend and beyond. There will also be exclusive photo opps with the Central Perk couch, which will be on site in front of The Fountains.

Saturday, October 19 

AT&T 5G Friends Fan Experience at The Brooklyn Bridge, New York-New York  

AT&T is bringing Friends to life in brand new ways, giving fans opportunities to interact with their six favorite friends in a massive and immersive custom built experience that’s more 2019 than 1994 –– but not without nostalgia!

Many of the experiences will be powered by AT&T’s live 5G network and its 5G Innovation Program members, including Ericsson’s 5G network equipment, Nokia network infrastructure and Samsung Galaxy S10 5G smartphones. The Fan Experience includes:

Phoebe’s Yellow Cab Escape Room

“It’s like you’re always stuck in second gear…” But for Friends fans, this will not only be their day, their week, their month, but also their year!  Located outside New York-New York Hotel & Casino, Phoebe’s Yellow Cab Escape Room offers the challenge of an escape room with the fun of a Friends trivia game, in a fully operational taxicab. Parked –– where else? –– on the Brooklyn Bridge, the Friends Escape Room allows fans to test their knowledge of the series inside Phoebe’s iconic mode of transportation. 

Here’s a sample to get you started:  Which of the following is not true?  A.  Phoebe inherited the cab from her grandfather.  B. Ross named it the “Death Cab” because of Phoebe’s driving abilities.  C.  Princess Consuela Banana-Hammock also owns the vehicle.  D. None of the above. If you guessed D, you’re a natural.  Head to Vegas to try your luck!

Central Perk LEGO®

Go big…or go home! At nearly 700 square feet, this re-creation of one of the series’ signature sets will be on display exclusively at New York-New York. Built out of 900,000 LEGO bricks over a period of four months, this life-sized re-creation from acclaimed artist Nathan Sawaya features everything from the iconic sofa to the latest menu board.

Fun Facts:  No one has ever built a life-sized TV set out of LEGO bricks before. Although the creators binge-watched every season of Friends, it took them longer to build the set than to watch the series. The furniture is all fully functional –– allowing visitors to sit on the couches and chairs. The signature orange couch took the longest time to build –– as the most challenging part of the process was replicating the patterns in the upholstery.

A miniature version of the LEGO Central Perk set is now available at retailers nationwide. 

The 7th Friend Experience

Fans can record a 3D version of themselves doing Chandler’s happy dance or their own favorite move. Using AT&T’s 5G with Ericsson’s 5G network equipment, fans can drop their virtual twin into a miniature replica of Monica and Rachel’s apartment. This experience uses data-intensive volumetric video to put you in the center of the action, which can be viewed on Samsung tablets and the Galaxy S10 5G.

Performance by The Rembrandts

“I’ll be there for you, like I’ve been there before…” The Rembrandts will perform an exclusive live set at The Park, the immersive outdoor dining and entertainment district located adjacent to New York-New York. Famous for their iconic theme song, the musical duo will be on hand to perform their hits and other Friends-related songs. The concert will also be livestreamed over AT&T 5G with Nokia to a big screen onsite to make sure you have the perfect view as you belt out those memorable lyrics.

Give it Your Best

What better way to celebrate Friends in Las Vegas than with a Friends-themed karaoke booth where fans can sing along to iconic music from the show.

Also in the neighborhood, keep an eye out for Marcel, Ross’s onetime pet Capuchin monkey. Although Marcel has gone on to a successful film career with Jean-Claude Van Damme and more, he’ll be on hand to meet and greet fans. Autographs are discouraged. 

Friends in 4K & Download Station

The show first aired in 1994 using 35mm film, but has since been remastered in Ultra HD quality. Check out the release of Friends in 4K as it’s streamed using new Samsung Galaxy S10 5G smartphones with its immersive 6.7” Dynamic AMOLED screen over AT&T’s 5G network with Nokia. Fans can also stream their favorite episodes or download them in a matter of seconds – much faster than 4G speeds.  Compare the difference in a side-by-side 5G and LTE download station. The world-famous Blue Man Group may not be able to pivot a couch, but they sure can paint one. From their home at Luxor Hotel and Casino, the enigmatic Blue Men will transform the iconic orange Central Perk sofa in a way that only this bald and blue trio could. Their newly painted creation will be on display inside Luxor on Saturday, Oct. 19.

  • Behind the Scenes with the Master Chefs of France (The Venetian Resort), Thursday, May 9: Join the Master Chefs of France for a rare glimpse in their natural setting as they prepare gourmet masterpieces right in front of your eyes. The evening will begin with a craft cocktail reception at the beautiful Rosina Cocktail Bar. Guests will then be escorted to a private kitchen in the heart of The Venetian where the famed chefs will be waiting with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. There, guests will be fully immersed in the art of the chefs’ process while enjoying a cornucopia of creative, thoughtfully prepared dishes, lavish cheese plates and desserts accompanied by some of France’s best wines. ‘Maître Cuisinier de France’ or ‘The Master Chefs of France’ is one of the most envied titles that chefs can aspire to receive, as they are often given the highest classification in restaurant guides and are regularly mentioned in the world’s leading food and travel magazines. MGM Resorts NBA Summer League, tipping off this weekend at Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion, will feature all 30 NBA teams for the first time. During this historic time in basketball, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and MGM Grand Hotel & Casino will host a variety of events for fans July 6 – 17, featuring fun-filled activations from iconic brands including Pepsi and Jack Daniel’s, in addition to daily appearances by current and former NBA players.

  • Rhythm & Riffs will feature daily meet and greet opportunities July 6 – 11:
    • July 6 at 6 p.m. – Nia Coffey, Las Vegas Aces

WHAT To celebrate the Vegas Golden Knights first round playoff appearance, MGM Resorts is offering hockey fans a variety of Golden Knights-themed activations at select properties along The Strip. Fans will have the opportunity to visit the following resorts:

 

Bellagio Resort & Casino

  • Bellagio Patisserie presents a five-foot-tall Marc-Andre Fleury chocolate sculpture.
  • Fun Facts:
  • The sculpture took approx. five weeks to complete (started February 10, 2018).
  • Three types of chocolate used: milk, dark and white.
  • The sculpture’s inner-structure is made of Styrofoam.
  • The Styrofoam is covered in 20 lbs of Rice Krispy.
  • 90 lbs of chocolate was used along with 10 lbs of fondant and a few pounds of sugar paper for the letters.

 

ARIA Resort & Casino

  • ARIA Front Desk and Tower Suites representatives will show their team spirit by wearing Golden Knights gear during every home playoff game.
  • Five50 Pizza Bar will offer a new pizza, “The Post Seasonal,” which includes grilled golden pineapple and roasted red knight peppers, topped with pickled jalapeños and smoked bacon for $5.50 (slice) / $25.50 (whole pizza). Golden Road Blonde Ale will be available for $5.50 (glass) and $18 (pitchers that serve four glasses).

 

MGM Grand Hotel & Casino

  • TAP Sports Bar will feature a step-and-repeat outside of the restaurant for photo opportunities.
  • Vegas Golden Knights-branded table felts have been installed throughout the MGM Grand Casino Floor.

NEW NAME FOR WNBA FRANCHISE

MGM Resorts International today announced that its WNBA franchise will be called the Las Vegas Aces. Las Vegas’ first major professional basketball team – formerly the San Antonio Stars – will begin play in its new home in the 2018 season.

 

 

Las Vegas Aces President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach Bill Laimbeer was joined by MGM Resorts President Bill Hornbuckle and WNBA President Lisa Borders to reveal the team’s name and logo at a news conference at Mandalay Bay.

 

“Selecting a new name is an important and symbolic step,” said Laimbeer, a two-time WNBA Coach of the Year and four-time NBA All-Star. “Las Vegas has enthusiastically embraced us, and we’re incredibly excited for this opportunity. We have a strong roster driven to succeed, which makes this name an ideal choice. ‘Las Vegas Aces’ is a nod to the excellence, confidence and competitive spirit of our new hometown.”

 

Borders said, “We are ecstatic to officially welcome the Las Vegas Aces to the WNBA family. The Aces are already embracing the opportunity to develop a deep connection with the local community, and we can’t wait to watch them bring the WNBA’s brand of world-class basketball to their new home in 2018.”

 

Hornbuckle added, “This is a great time to bring women’s professional basketball to the Las Vegas community. The WNBA represents some of the world’s best athletes and will showcase its incredible talent for our hometown fans. Young girls and boys in our city will undoubtedly gain dynamic role models for professionalism, teamwork, dedication and discipline.”

 

Las Vegas-based entertainment and hospitality leader MGM Resorts received unanimous approval from the WNBA and NBA Board of Governors in October in connection with its purchase and relocation of the team from San Antonio to Las Vegas. In its inaugural season in Las Vegas, the Aces are expected to play 17 home games at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, adding to MGM Resorts’ outstanding lineup of live entertainment experiences. The company is home to more than 20 world-class arenas, theaters and outdoor venues, selling 8 million tickets annually for live events ranging from performances by renowned artists such as The Rolling Stones, Cher and Bruno Mars to some of the biggest fights in the history of combat sports.

 

The Aces will become the second major professional sports team in Las Vegas, following the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights, who play at T-Mobile Arena. The NFL’s Oakland Raiders are expected to relocate to Las Vegas by the 2020 season.

 

Las Vegas’ new WNBA franchise was originally established for the league’s inaugural season in Salt Lake City before moving to San Antonio prior to the 2003 season.

 

Fans can make a deposit for Las Vegas Aces tickets through AXS.com. Deposits can be applied toward season tickets, multi-game packs, or single game tickets. The opportunity to buy season tickets will be offered to deposit holders in the order in which they signed up and seat availability is not guaranteed. Season tickets will go on sale to the public in early 2018.

Off to its best start to a season in six years at 5-0 after defeating Utah, 85-58, on Wednesday night at T-Mobile Arena in the championship game of the MGM Resorts Main Event, the UNLV men’s basketball team will return home to the Thomas & Mack Center to host Southern Utah on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. 
 
The first 3,000 fans will receive a free rally towel courtesy of St. Rose Hospitals and the first 300 fans through the door will receive a voucher for a free popcorn. Plus, UFC Hall of Famer, Forrest Griffin, will be on hand for a special halftime presentation.

The 2017-18 season marks the second under head coach Marvin Menzies for the Runnin’ Rebels. Menzies and his staff have brought in a recruiting class for this year that has been ranked as high as No. 12 in the country and features McDonald’s High School All-American Brandon McCoy and National Junior College Player of the Year Shakur Juiston. The Runnin’ Rebels also return their leading scorer from last season – senior guard Jovan Mooring. 
 
UNLV is averaging 95.4 ppg this season and has scored 85 or more points in all five of its games. Four Runnin’ Rebels are averaging double figures, led by McCoy’s 21.2 ppg. Mooring is second with 16.0 ppg, then senior guard Jordan Johnson with 14.2 and Juiston at 11.4. McCoy and Juiston are both averaging a double-double with 12.8 and 12.4 rpg, respectively.

Lori Brennan from Seattle Takes First Place in 2015 MGM Resorts Recipe Showdown

Lori Brennan, Leadership Development coordinator for Amazon, turned her family’s Seattle Salmon Bowl into an award-winning dish when she took first place in the second annual MGM Resorts Recipe Showdown in Las Vegas. Open to meeting planners, travel professionals and leisure partners, the competition was designed by MGM Resorts to showcase clients’ culinary talents and their favorite family recipes.

“The Recipe Showdown gave us a unique, fun vehicle to engage with our travel and meeting community throughout the year,” said Michael Dominguez, Chief Sales Officer for MGM Resorts International.  “The lively competition allowed colleagues to interact in a new way, bringing people together with the joy of food.”

Brennan earned her way to the finals in Las Vegas after winning Seattle’s Showdown, one of 16 regional cooking competitions held across the country and Canada between June and September.  Combining Brennan’s two loves, Seattle and Sushi, the Seattle Salmon Bowl was created for her husband and is her family’s version of fast food.  For her winning efforts, she received an all-expense-paid trip to the South Beach Wine & Food Festival in Miami, February 25 – 28, 2016.

Lori Brennan said, “I want to thank MGM Resorts for the top-notch experience from start to finish. This event was a really great opportunity to meet other people and share our passion for cooking. The whole thing really made my husband and I feel like part of the MGM Resorts’ family.”

Nancy Nachman, with The Meetings Concierge in Salt Lake City, won second place for her Spanish-Style White Fish Stew, and Maria Garcia, with BCD Meetings & Events out of Chicago, received third place for her appetizer, Huarache de Sonora. A digital cookbook with the 16 winning recipes from each city showdown will be available soon.

The finalists went head-to-head during the main event, held in MGM Grand Garden Arena’s professional kitchen, and were judged by three of Las Vegas’ top executive chefs, Royden Ellamar of the soon-to-open Harvest at Bellagio, Joshua Smith from BARDOT Brasserie at ARIA, and Steve Benjamin of L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon at MGM Grand.

Chef Ellamar said, “The Seattle Salmon Bowl was our top pick because the dish was simple and elegant.  The rice and salmon were cooked perfectly, and the flavors of each ingredient worked well to enhance the other. The sauce had the right amount of salinity, the radish sprouts added a hint of spiciness and the avocado provided the creamy richness we crave.  Well done!”

George Strait said, “I said all along I wasn’t going to tour anymore, but I also said that I wasn’t retiring by any means and I still wanted to do some dates. I’ve been working a little bit here and there, and I’m really proud of this new album that’s coming out. I think it’s a great record – I always say this; I think it’s one of the best records I’ve done. I always shoot for that. You’ve got to go in the studio thinking that way, so I’m very excited about that and I’m also very excited to be coming back out and playing for the fans out there. I’m looking forward to it so much, singing those songs that I love so much and haven’t done in a while. I’m really, really looking forward to being able to play in the new Las Vegas Arena. I hear it’s just unbelievable. I can’t wait.

Strait will release his new album Cold Beer Conversation this Friday, Sept. 25, as announced at a press conference from MGM Grand earlier today. With more than 7 million entertainment tickets sold in 2014 alone, MGM Resorts’ offerings are unrivaled. Blue Man Group
Blue Man Group will move to Luxor this fall, returning to the property where they initially took Las Vegas by storm. The new venue, currently home to Jabbawockeez, will allow Blue Man Group the ability to transform its production into a custom entertainment experience built for maximum impact, with the action and spectacle closer than ever before.

They will perform in the newly renovated theater currently occupied by Beacher’s Madhouse, where  legendary Vegas showman Jeff Beacher will continue to bring his outrageous and over the top Beacher’s Madhouse shows every Saturday night.

With a spirit that’s both untamed and inviting, Double Barrel will showcase high-energy live music and entertainment, an array of craft cocktails and beers and a Southern-inspired menu in a 12,000 square foot, indoor-outdoor space envisioned by award-winning designer Mark Zeff.

The Double Barrel menu was created by newly named Executive Chef Michael Vitangeli and is intended to showcase big flavors with an unmistakable Southern influence. Freshly crafted American classics like Crispy Smokey Chicken Wings, Mini Corn Dogs, Corn Chowder and Crispy Meatloaf served with sweet bacon-laced Ketchup highlight the menu along with house specialties including Not Your Mama’s Chicken Pot Pie and New Orleans Shrimp & Grits. An oversized wood burning grill is used to create dishes such as the 24 oz. Cowboy Steak and the slow cooked Crackling Pork Shank brushed with a bourbon glaze.

Funds will help Nevadans with disabilities receive vocational training
to seek and prepare for jobs in Las Vegas community

 

Easter Seals Nevada, the nonprofit that serves more than 8,000 Nevadans with disabilities every year, was recently awarded a generous $20,760 grant from The MGM Resorts Foundation to strengthen its employment programs and provide the necessary training to help place individuals with disabilities and other employment barriers.

“Every dollar makes a difference at Easter Seals and the funds from MGM Resorts Foundation will provide valuable pre-vocational and vocational training to adults with disabilities,” said Brian Patchett, President and CEO of Easter Seals Nevada. “Our clients feel a sense of pride when they support themselves, contribute to their family households and interact with peers in a work setting. A strong employment program is crucial to helping them receive the necessary training to become more independent and self-sufficient.”

Easter Seals Nevada will use the grant to create workshops focusing on building skills for the workplace such as how to interact with peers and superiors in the work field, how to take directions and the importance of being punctual. Supplemental training videos will also be incorporated in the programming.

NEW LOYALTY PROGRAM RELATIONSHIP

New strategic relationship between Hyatt Gold Passport and MGM Resorts’ M life
expected to be largest loyalty program collaboration in Las Vegas

 

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) and MGM RESORTS INTERNATIONAL (NYSE: MGM) today announce an unprecedented relationship between their affiliates that will offer substantial benefits to members of their loyalty programs, Hyatt Gold Passport and MGM Resorts’ M life. Starting June 20, Hyatt Gold Passport members will be able to earn and redeem Hyatt Gold Passport points at 12 iconic participating MGM Resorts destinations in Las Vegas, and M life members will be able to earn M life Tier Credits when staying at Hyatt hotels and resorts around the world.

The relationship between Hyatt, with more than 450 hotels and resorts worldwide, and MGM Resorts International, with approximately 40,000 hotel rooms in Las Vegas across 12 participating properties, is expected to be the largest loyalty program collaboration in Las Vegas.

Beginning June 20, participating MGM Resorts destinations can be booked through Hyatt.com and Hyatt Worldwide Reservation Centers in addition to mlife.com and individual MGM Resorts property websites. Guests with membership in Hyatt Gold Passport and M life will be able to earn both Hyatt Gold Passport points and M life Tier Credits on eligible rates and spend for stays beginning on or after June 20 at participating MGM Resorts destinations.

The participating MGM Resorts destinations in Las Vegas are: Bellagio, ARIA, Vdara, MGM Grand, The Signature at MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, THEhotel at Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, Monte Carlo, New York-New York, Luxor and Excalibur.

 Beginning June 20, the relationship will provide Hyatt Gold Passport members and MGM Resorts’ M life members with the benefits outlined below.

Hyatt Gold Passport Benefits

  • Hyatt Gold Passport members will receive Hyatt Gold Passport points on every eligible dollar spent at the 12 participating MGM Resorts destinations in Las Vegas. Members will also have the opportunity to earn M life Tier Credits simultaneously at these locations on eligible spend.

 

  • All eligible stays at any of the participating MGM Resorts destinations in Las Vegas will count toward Hyatt Gold Passport tier status.

 

  • Hyatt Gold Passport members will be able to redeem their Hyatt Gold Passport points for award nights at participating MGM Resorts destinations in Las Vegas.

 

  • Coming in August, Hyatt Gold Passport members will be eligible to opt-in to a reciprocal tier status in MGM Resorts’ M life, providing benefits at participating MGM Resorts destinations. Depending on the matched Tier Level, members may receive special room offers and upgrades, pre-sale access to premier concert, show and fight tickets, invitations to members-only events, access to M life Moments – exclusive experiences, and much more.

 

M life Benefits

  • M life members will receive M life Tier Credits for eligible spend when traveling beyond MGM Resorts destinations, in Las Vegas, Detroit and Mississippi, when they stay at Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide.

 

  • M life members will have the opportunity to experience destinations and cultures across the globe with the authentic hospitality that Hyatt offers while earning M life Tier Credits.

 

  • Coming in August, M life members will be eligible to opt-in to a reciprocal tier status in Hyatt Gold Passport, providing benefits at Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide. Depending on the matched Tier Level, members may receive complimentary in-room Internet access, guaranteed room availability, late check-out and more during their Hyatt stay.
