UNLV Weekly Release

All About The Rebels
UNLV currently has the top overall record in the MW (tied with Boise State), and is tied for third in the league with three points after a win over the Broncos on Sept. 27. The Rebels currently own the top offense in the league as well, ranking first in total points and assists, second in goals.
Leading the Rebels this season is senior forward Jenn Wolfe, with five goals and four assists for 14 points, second-best in the league. Sophomore midfielder Susie Bernal is at the top of the MW in assists, while senior goalkeeper Kylie Wassell continues her outstanding career in the goal, and has posted four shutouts this season.
The Rebels are 2-0 all-time against San Jose State, including last year’s 5-1 win on a neutral field, while UNLV won both meetings against Fresno State last season by a combined 4-0 margin.

Scouting San Jose State
The Spartans, in their first year in the Mountain West, have struggled in 2013, bringing a 1-9 mark into Friday night’s contest. SJSU’s lone win came at home on Sept. 20 over Pacific, which broke a seven-game losing streak to start the season. Since then, the Spartans have dropped a 2-1 overtime contest at New Mexico, and a 2-0 game at San Diego State in their first-ever weekend of play in the Mountain West.
Lupita Estrada is the only player on the team with more then one goal this season, as she has three of the team’s seven goals, and also one assist for seven points. Two players split the time in goal, Zoe Makrigiannis (1.78 GAA) and Sarah Peplinski (2.93 GAA).

Scouting Fresno State
The Bulldogs bring a 3-7-1 record into the weekend, and started out 0-2 in league play after losses on the road at San Diego State and New Mexico. In fact, Fresno State has not won since a 1-0 win at UC Riverside on Sept. 13, since then the team has posted a 0-4-1 mark. Nine of the first 11 games have been on the road as well, though both home games were losses (Santa Clara, Cal State Northridge).
Morgan Castain has paced the offense this season for Fresno State, with five goals and an assist for 11 points. Kayla Kret is the only other player with multiple goals, having posted two. In goal is Katie DeVault, with a 1.27 GAA and 51 saves this season.

Next Time Out
The Rebels return home for a solo game on the weekend, a Sunday, Oct. 13 contest against first-year program Colorado State at 1 pm in Las Vegas at Peter Johann Field.
