VILLANUEVA RECEIVES MOUNTAIN WEST WEEKLY AWARD FOR SECOND TIME
UNLV women’s soccer forward Cassie Villanueva was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday. She joins her Rebel counterpart Trinity Buchanan in receiving the honor twice this season.
Originally from La Mirada, California, Villanueva helped the Rebels extend their unbeaten streak to seven games with a win at Wyoming and a draw at Colorado State. She scored the game-winning goal in the 81st minute in a 2-1 win over the Cowgirls, marking her second game-winning score of the year.
UP NEXT: The Scarlet & Gray returns to Peter Johann Memorial Field to play its first home contest in three weeks on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT vs. San Jose State. A free tailgate with food and drinks will be hosted by the UNLV Soccer Foundation prior to kickoff at 5 p.m. PT.
