FERRARO’S WELCOMES TUSCAN BOUTIQUE WINERY LA GERLA AT
NEXT TASTE & LEARN EVENT, OCT. 21
Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar’s next Taste & Learn will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. and will spotlight the extraordinary wines from La Gerla. In attendance will be La Gerla winemaker and director Alberto Passeri visiting from Montalcino, Italy, which is famous around the world for its incomparable Brunellos.
Each month, Taste & Learn offers food and wine lovers a chance to learn about some of Italy’s best wines, which are paired with small plates prepared by Executive Chef Francesco DiCaudo. This educational epicurean experience represents one of Las Vegas’ most informative—and enjoyable—food and wine-tasting opportunities.
This month’s event will feature two different Brunellos, including La Gerla’s award-winning single-vineyard Brunello “Gli Angeli.”. La Gerla is a small, exceptionally high-quality winery which adheres to the traditional Italian winemaking methods.
“None of La Gerla’s wines ever see the inside of a French oak cask,” explains Gino Ferraro. “Instead, they are aged in the true Italian manner, which results in a wine that pairs much better with delicious food.”
The evening’s menu will include:
Poggio Gli Angeli, 2014
Guaglia – Quail egg lollipop, grape, figs, lavender jus
Rosso di Montalcino, 2013
Guanciale di Maiale – Sliced pork cheeks, matsutake mushrooms, bosc pear
Brunello di Montalcino, 2010
Ravioli di Patate – Potato-truffle ravioli, wild boar ragù
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva “Gli Angeli,” 2010
Cervo – Lard-wrapped venison loin, sweet potato, porcini mushrooms, spicy red onion jam
Under the direction of Gino Ferraro, Ferraro’s wine selection places special emphasis on presenting a broad and deep range of Italian wines, such as Barolo from Bartolo Mascarello, Bruno Giacosa and Giacomo Conterno; Barbaresco from Marchese dei Gresy and Produttori del Barbaresco; Brunello from Biondi Santi; Amarone from Bertani and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo from Emidio Pepe. Ferraro’s has been recognized with Wine Spectator’s “Best of Award of Excellence” and the Wine Enthusiast award.
Space for this intimate event is limited and tickets (tax and tip included) are $65 per person. To make reservations, call (702) 364-5300.
