Credit One Bank® and Vegas Golden Knights Foundation Virtually Present $84,000 to Support Local Las Vegas Charities

Credit One Bank® and VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS FOUNDATION VIRTUALLY PRESENT $84,000 TO SUPPORT LOCAL LAS VEGAS CHARITIES

Today, Credit One Bank®, issuer of the Official Credit Card of the Vegas Golden Knights, and the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation presented seven local charities $12,000 each during a virtual check presentation. Some of the money was raised during a series of silent auctions at select Vegas Golden Knights home games at T-Mobile Arena. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, not all charities were able to host auctions, but Credit One Bank honored their commitment to the community by ensuring that all seven charities received $12,000 no matter the date of their originally scheduled fundraiser nor the total dollars raised during the silent auctions. The seven local charities include Family Promise of Las Vegas, HELP of Southern Nevada, HomeAid Southern Nevada, Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY), The Shade Tree and U.S.VETS-Las Vegas.

The virtual check presentation was conducted via Zoom with representatives from Credit One Bank, the Golden Knights Foundation and all seven charities. Each charity got a chance to share their mission and the impact this donation will have in the local community. Participants were surprised with appearances from Chance, the Golden Knights beloved mascot, who shared a special thank you, and crowd ignitor, Cameron “Cheers” Hughes. Cameron Cheers twirled t-shirts with participants and expressed his gratitude for the charities and the Las Vegas community.

Credit One Bank and the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation have donated more than $200,000 to charities in Las Vegas since 2018.

On Monday, Oct. 7, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! visited HELP of Southern Nevada to volunteer on-site for its 2019 corporate giving event. All 103 of the company’s volunteers were tasked with various projects to benefit four significant programs at HELP of Southern Nevada.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! donated a total of $25,000 to HELP of Southern Nevada, as well as the gift of their time, to benefit the following four programs within the organization: Baby First Services, Framing Hope Warehouse, “Living Beyond” Maternal Group Home and Shannon West Homeless Youth Center.

HELP’s employees excitedly welcomed the volunteers upon arrival while President and CEO of HELP, Fuilala Riley, directed the crowd into four groups. Each group was divided up to aid in four different facets of the non-profit’s services.

Volunteers helped package 30,000 diapers for HELP’s Diaper Bank and its Baby First Services, programs within the Emergency Resource Services Department. These programs assist pregnant and parenting individuals with their newborn children up to three years old.

At Shannon West Homeless Youth Center, 125 welcome bags were assembled for youths entering housing, which included undergarments, sweatpants, hygiene products and more. The welcome bags will provide residents with basic necessities they will use daily. Shannon West Homeless Youth Center provides services for at-risk youth that are homeless or may become homeless.

The Framing Hope Warehouse, a resource for local non-profits that need retail-based merchandise, was cleaned out in order to prepare for the upcoming 98.5 KLUC The Chet Buchanan Show Toy Drive as part of HELP’s Holiday Assistance program.

Finally, the last group was tasked with assembling an assortment of furniture for HELP’s “Living Beyond” Maternal Group Home, for pregnant and/or parenting mothers. A large portion of the monetary donation was allocated to provide new furniture and home accessories for the Maternal Group Home, as well as various items to further improve HELP’s programs and services such as diaper donations, hygiene products and more.

Following the morning festivities, Shannon West Homeless Youth Center residents, volunteers and HELP employees joined together for lunch inside the youth center. The residents were treated to an ice cream bar and received special raffle prizes, courtesy of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! staff.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. Cartoonist and adventurer Robert Ripley started it all in 1918 when he drew the first Ripley’s Believe It or Not! cartoon. Today, Ripley’s has over 100 family-friendly attractions in 10 countries, including Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditoriums, world-renowned Ripley’s Aquariums and traveling shows. Festivities also will include a live and silent auction with art, show and concert tickets, dining packages, spa treatments, jewelry and other great prizes, and the reveal of the 21 Mondays Dark beneficiaries for 2019.

“I can’t believe Mondays Dark is five years old. I love our year-end celebration which brings all of our partners together as well as our new ones for next year ‒ 42 local groups celebrating each other under one roof.  It’s a cool party,” said Mark Shunock, entertainer and philanthropist who founded Mondays Dark. “In 2019, we’ll hit the $1 million mark in funds raised, and this is something our team is extremely proud of.”

The Mondays Dark 2018 lineup included: WHY Ranch/White Horse Youth Ranch Foundation, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Miracle Flights, Baby’s Bounty, Tyler Robinson Foundation, HELP of Southern Nevada, New Vista, Positively Arts Foundation, Speedway Children’s Charities, Forgotten Not Gone, Cure 4 the Kids Foundation, Sin City Sisters of the Perpetual Indulgence, Leaders in Training, Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada,  Alzheimer’s Association Desert Southwest Chapter, Officer Down, Adam’s Place, Yellow Pants Project, Children’s Heart Foundation, and Las Vegas Firefighter Youth Hockey.

Shunock developed the idea to give back to the community and support local charities with Mondays Dark in 2013 when he was starring in the hit Broadway musical, “Rock of Ages.” He enlisted some of his entertainment friends to help, and Mondays Dark was born. The popularity and reach of the fundraisers has continued to grow with charities and performers eager to be involved. By year’s end, 80 nonprofits will have been helped.

Mondays Dark was named “Best of the City” from Vegas Seven in 2014 and “Best of Vegas” from Las Vegas Weekly the following year. In addition, Shunock received the 2014 Angel Award for Cultural Advocate/Entertainer of the Year and was named Best Philanthropist from “Best of Las Vegas” and the Las Vegas Review Journal and the Impact Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals Las Vegas Chapter for Mondays Dark.

About Mondays Dark and The Space
Mondays Dark was founded in November 2013 by entertainer and philanthropist Mark Shunock, who currently can be seen as the emcee for “Magic Mike Live” and the in-arena host for the Vegas Golden Knights. He wanted to provide the community with a sizzling mix of entertainment, music and comedy while supporting the many charities in Southern Nevada. To date, the 501(c)3 organization has raised more than $800,000 for local nonprofits, one event at a time, one ticket at a time. With the opening of The Space arts complex in 2016 by Shunock, Mondays Dark found a permanent home and opened the door to a wide variety of additional community outreach to Las Vegas – from local productions to children’s workshops, from targeted fundraisers to Mondays Dark events, and from fashion shows to weddings. Quickly earning a reputation for hip and intimate experiences, The Space features a 3,000-square-foot raw performance space, black box theater, two rehearsal studios, podcast/recording studio, and a vintage piano bar and lounge. It is located at 3460 Cavaretta Court off of Polaris Ave. just north of Harmon Ave. For additional information on Mondays Dark, including updates on The Space, programming and charitable events, visit www.MondaysDark.com or www.TheSpaceLV.com or connect via Instagram @MondaysDark, Twitter @Mondays_Dark or Facebook at www.facebook.com/MondaysDarkLasVegas.
