Arizona Charlie’s Decatur to Partner with
Paws for the Cause and The Animal Foundation for
Second Free Microchipping and Adoption Event
Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, located at 740 S. Decatur Blvd., in partnership with Paws for the Cause and The Animal Foundation, will host a pet microchipping and adoption event in its parking lot from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, where pet owners can bring their furry friends to get microchipped for free.
“Following the success of our event in April where we microchipped over 450 pets, we’re eager to host this event with Paws for the Cause, Veterinary Centers of America and The Animal Foundation again to assist even more pets and their owners,” said Darin Yunek, Vice President and General Manager of Golden Entertainment, Inc.
The event arrives at the right time, after the recent announcement that the Las Vegas City Council will require all dogs and cats in the city to be microchipped by August 2024. Arizona Charlie’s will host the event in partnership with veterinarians from the Veterinary Centers of America (VCA), who will be available to implant microchips in pets within the Las Vegas community. Microchips are free for the first two pets per owner, and a $10 donation for any additional microchips to benefit The Animal Foundation, which has provided 500 microchips for the event. Also on site will be a select number of adoptable animals hoping to find their “fur-ever” home, in addition to live music and food vendors, including Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, LV_Hot Dogs and Sinful Delights desserts.
“Paws for the Cause is proud to partner with local businesses like Arizona Charlie’s to help our community and their pets,” said Paws for the Cause Founder Dana Arcana. “We look forward to a fun day where people will have the opportunity to get their fur babies microchipped and connect with other pet owners.”
During the event, The Animal Foundation will also be collecting new or gently used blankets to help warm and comfort pets in need of adoption. Anyone who brings their pet to be microchipped will receive an Arizona Charlie’s logo portable water bowl and leash as well as a True Rewards new sign-up offer.
Microchipping is the safest and most effective way to help recover pets if they become lost, and they last for the duration of the pet’s life. With over 24,000 animals brought to Las Vegas animal shelters last year, according to The Animal Foundation, every microchip counts. While dogs are the most popular pets to be microchipped, nearly any pet can be implanted to help increase the chance of reuniting lost pets with their families without subjecting them to a shelter environment.
Paws for the Cause has previously held adoption and vaccination pop-ups and plans to hold future events to help animals in need. Last year alone, The Animal Foundation helped over 11,000 animals get adopted in the Las Vegas area.
