Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens Welcomes Spring with Spectacular Tea Party Dreamland

Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens invites visitors to immerse themselves in the whimsical world of tea parties with its captivating spring display, “Tea and Tulips.” Through May 18, the Conservatory is transformed into a dream-like garden tea fête, celebrating the season’s arrival with an explosion of vibrant floral arrangements and a symphony of colors.

A collaborative effort between designer Ed Libby and the talented Bellagio Horticulture team, “Tea and Tulips” was carefully designed to embody the fanciful spirit of tea parties and the enticing colors and qualities of four tea favorites: rose hip, chamomile, ginger peach and lavender. Each bed celebrates one of the varieties, using breathtaking botanical artistry to create an unforgettable teatime wonderland.

“Our spring display is a harmonious blend of immersive set design, botanically enhanced decor and natural elements, brought together to create a magnificent tea party that weaves a story of springtime themes,” said Libby. “We welcome guests to explore this enchanting world at the heart of Bellagio, offering them not just a fantastic experience and photo moment, but a heartfelt embrace of the season’s promise.”

West Bed – Rose Hip Tea

At the heart of the West Bed, guests are transported into a dreamy tea party scene as a young girl reclines upon a crescent moon, captivated by the magic of her evening cup of rose hip tea. She holds a teapot that spills out over the bed, feeding a cascading waterfall that runs down a mossy mountain. Nearby, a larger-than-life teapot pours rose hip tea into a giant cup floating on the water. A colorful hot-air balloon ascends above the scene, symbolizing springtime’s spirit of adventure and romanticism. Tucked within the bed is an open-air greenhouse, home to the Conservatory’s exclusive dining experience, The Garden Table. The greenhouse is adorned with detailed verdigris metalwork, a centuries-old decorative element reflecting the traditional craftsmanship found within the Bellagio Conservatory.

North Bed – Chamomile Tea
Fern-like leaves and the luminous yellow blossoms of a mimosa tree fill the North Bed, taking on the vibrant and exuberant look of chamomile. Nestled amidst the garden, a kind-hearted girl wearing a crown of daffodils sits atop an oversized teapot, sharing her stories with a curious rabbit. From magnificent monarch butterflies and industrious honeybees to resplendent yellow roses, daffodils and chamomile flowers, bright yellow elements of springtime abound, creating a picturesque backdrop for teatime. The sunny, relaxing scene represents the taste and restorative qualities of chamomile tea.

East Bed – Ginger Peach Tea
Guests enter a peachy wonderland as they stroll through the East Bed. Two graceful tea maidens in elegant gowns overlook the enchanting tea party scene before them, while a 28-foot-tall garden folly proudly displays the signature Bellagio “B” as an elegant crystal chandelier hangs below. The bed showcases ginger peach tea, a blend of ripe peaches with the spicy vibrancy of freshly harvested ginger, a mixture of pleasing and healing qualities.

South Bed – Lavender Tea
An 18-foot-tall teapot floats in midair above the South Bed, with its spout pouring lavender tea into a steaming teacup below. When steeped into tea, lavender offers an aromatic potion with healing properties, including protection, balance and relaxation, a calming blend for the coming season. Colorful hummingbirds with iridescent feathers flutter and dance with graceful delight amid an array of brilliant blossoms. Lovely lavender (representing serenity and grace), wisteria (for resilience and longevity), hibiscus (manifesting springtime love and passion) and pansies (conveying heartfelt emotion), create a soothing symphony of vibrantly hued purple flowers.

Sustainability at the Conservatory
Water used in Bellagio’s Conservatory and Botanical Gardens comes from on-site underground wells that use rain and recycled water from the resort, avoiding the use of municipal potable water. The water in the Conservatory is also recycled throughout the exhibit and reused at the resort. Bellagio’s water conservation efforts are part of MGM Resort International’s overall sustainability commitment.

At the conclusion of each display, plants and botanical material without remaining viable life are separated for collection by a local composting facility. The organic waste is made into compost products to help improve the environment. This method of recycling keeps thousands of pounds of waste out of local landfills and turns it into something that improves the region’s soil, air and water quality.
