“I am so excited to see my Best Friend family and be able to share the last stop of the book tour in my second home, the wonderful Las Vegas baby!,” said Choi.
The Choi of Cooking Overview
When it became apparent that giving into every greasy craving was not sustainable, Choi tapped into his chef’s intuition to adapt and reframe the way he cooks for himself. The results became a collection of recipes built on a foundation of balance and compassion, informed by Choi’s life experiences and learnings. With 100 flavor-packed recipes, The Choi of Cooking is a golden handguide that will empower readers to eat healthy—or, at least, healthier—without ditching their go-to favorites. The cookbook features craveable recipes with Choi’s underlying philosophy of “taking steps, not leaps, and moving away from extremes toward balance.”
The recipes focus on foods that fuel the body and meet readers wherever they are (think more veggies and just a little less meat). Chapter and recipe samples include:
- Veg Head: recipes that will help lovers and haters alike eat more veggies (without realizing it) like The Feel Good Sandwich, Stir-fried Pea Shoots with Garlic and Chiles, and Roasted Beets with Chili Crisp, Cilantro, and Lime.
- Salads for People Who Don’t Eat Salads: Tuna Salad Niçoise Bibimbap, Eggplant Laab, and Cacio e Pepe Caesar Salad.
- Soyboy and Huevos Locos Forever: simple and satisfying protein options such as Drunken Kimchi Tofu Sifu, Tofu Breakfast Burritos, and Deviled Egg Sandos.
- Make It Grain: intentional ways to satisfy when that carb craving hits, with recipes like Cold Bibim Noodle Salad, Shakshuka Baked Ziti, and Veggie on the Lo Mein Spaghetti.
- Meat Me Here: a slightly paradoxical chapter filled with recipes like Soy-Garlic BBQ Baked Chicken Wings, Not Shrimp Toast, But Think Shrimp Toast, Okay? Okay!, and Kimchi Philly Cheesesteak, because eating healthy isn’t all or nothing.
With collaborators Tien Nguyen and Natasha Phan, Choi shares essays and bits of wisdom that expand on his approach to food, equipping readers to cook confidently and with health in mind– no matter their experience or existing habits.
