May 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16

Currently serving as the bandleader for the LADY GAGA JAZZ & PIANO resident show at Park Theater, Newman has created Brian Newman: AFTER DARK as an ode to vintage Las Vegas, providing guests a late-night rendezvous filled with great music, good friends and craft cocktails. Intimate evenings are filled with special guest performers from New York City, Las Vegas and beyond. Past guests have included  Lady Gaga, Ashanti, Jaclyn McSpadden of Postmodern Jukebox and Puddles Pity Party, among many others. Burlesque star and award-winning entertainer Angie Pontani is scheduled to perform with Newman April 30 – May 10.

Tickets starting at $65 including fees are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets or online at ticketmaster.com. Shows are scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. with the exception of performances on May 3, 7, 10 and 16 which are scheduled to begin at 11:30 p.m. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to attend.

Brian Newman: AFTER DARK has been described by the Las Vegas Review-Journal as “a next-level cool hangout,” and according to Billboard Magazine, the unique show “reimagines the classic Las Vegas lounge show.”

Newman has made a name for himself as a consummate entertainer on the New York City club circuit in recent years with extended engagements at The Oak Room, Birdland, The McKittrick Hotel and The Rose Bar. His recently released debut album SHOWBOAT proves that jazz isn’t what it used to be. The album provides Newman with the opportunity to break the art form out of its constraints, allowing the jazz influences of Miles Davis and Chet Baker to find room with his love of rock bands such as Nirvana, Beck and Thin Lizzy.

Newman recently co-produced the soundtrack version of “La Vie En Rose” for the film “A Star Is Born” with Lady Gaga and was her bandleader and trumpeter for the Cheek to Cheek project with Tony Bennett. Both albums debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 chart. They originally met in the downtown New York City club scene where Newman was a bartender and they discovered their shared love for jazz and tattoos (the two share the same tattoo on their right arms of Miles Davis’ trumpet taken from a sketch done by Tony Bennett).

Hailing from Cleveland, Newman played trumpet for his local high school jazz band, and honed his skills listening to his musical influences. He attended the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music but decided to end his formal training and move to New York City in 2003. During that time, he hustled for club gigs, recorded on hip-hop sessions and tended bar. His exposure to the music scene expanded and he landed a regular gig at Plaza Hotel’s famed Oak Room where Stefani Germanotta first heard him perform. Their friendship led to Brian’s involvement in the Cheek to Cheek project and the global world tour. His engaging stage persona, musical chops, suave suits and jazz/rock communion has created a unique sound and sensibility.

MGM Resorts International & Eataly Las Vegas Unveil Large-Scale Mural by Renowned Artist Patrick Vale at Park MGM

MGM Resorts International & Eataly Las Vegas Unveil Large-Scale Mural by Renowned Artist Patrick Vale at Park MGM

MGM Resorts Art & Culture presents a new artwork by Brooklyn-based artist Patrick Vale at Eataly Las Vegas at Park MGM. By evoking Italy’s rich history, Vale’s piece, titled Some Drawings I Made Whilst Waiting For The Agnolotti, showcases various regions as well as their exceptional food and culinary traditions.

The work provides a visual application of Eataly founder Oscar Farinetti’s philosophy: to enjoy sustainable, authentic cuisine, shop the best products available and feel empowered to learn about Italian culture. To create the artwork, Vale drew inspiration from the Eataly team’s mantra: “Food Unites All.” He also spent time in both Eataly New York and Eataly Las Vegas studying and sketching the food, chefs and atmosphere to encompass the concept in his artwork.

Vale used his exceptional talent and advanced technology to create this incredibly detailed digital painting for Eataly and Park MGM. An accomplished draftsman known for his representations of urban landscapes, Vale has worked closely with Apple over the last five years, helping to launch the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, and was also recently featured in the company’s marketing campaigns and at several keynote presentations. Vale also has a custom commissioned design at Eataly in Flatiron Plaza, the first ever-kiosk across from its Manhattan flagship store that highlights two Eataly staples – Pizza al Padellino and artisanal gelato.

“This piece is conceptually simple,” said Vale. “I have married together views of Italy with observational studies of fresh food produce and the traditional process of making pasta. Hopefully the viewer will get a sense of the beauty and history of the country, as well as the Italian people’s passion for the food and produce alongside the traditions that goes into making many of the dishes. I wanted to give an equal footing to all the different elements in the piece, the places, the food and the tools of pasta making so I depicted all to the same level of detail and played with the scale.”

The finished piece boasts a width of nearly 79 feet and a height of 27 feet, showcasing elements woven together, rooted in graphical representations of Italian regions and typography inspired by 1930s travel posters. The painting is located above Eataly’s interior entrance inside Park MGM.

The Dead Rabbit Pop-Event at Juniper Cocktail Lounge at Park MGM – Friday, Jan. 18

AWARD-WINNING NEW YORK CITY BAR THE DEAD RABBIT GROCERY AND GROG TO HOST POP-UP EVENT AT JUNIPER COCKTAIL LOUNGE AT PARK MGM FRIDAY, JAN. 18

Juniper Cocktail Lounge at Park MGM will welcome award-winning New York City bar The Dead Rabbit Grocery and Grog for a special pop-event this Friday, Jan. 18 from 6:30 p.m.- 8 p.m. The exclusive event will include a book signing by The Dead Rabbit Beverage Director Jillian Vose; a special menu of The Dead Rabbit cocktails for guests to purchase; and live entertainment.

Co-authored by Vose and venue founders Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry, The Dead Rabbit Mixology & Mayhem: The Story of John Morrissey and the World’s Best Cocktail Menu is a graphic novel-style cocktail book featuring 100 recipes, each telling a story through artistic menus. The book’s storyline, said to have drawn inspiration from real events and people in New York City, is set in the 1970s and follows a rabbit-man hybrid named John Morrissey – creatively influenced by a real Irish-born, New York mobster from the 1850s. Drawing from the plot, inventive cocktails such as Superhuman and Smooth Talker punctuate the six chapters and feature full recipes for enthusiasts to recreate and enjoy at home. Books are $30/each and will be available at Juniper during the special event only.

The Dead Rabbit was named “Best Bar in the World” in 2016 and has won nearly every major accolade of the bar world since opening in November 2012.

Admission to the event is complimentary and open to guests 21 years of age and older.

Roy Choi Reveals Koreatown-Inspired Dishes Coming to Best Friend in Las Vegas at Park MGM

Slippery Shrimp, Hot Pots and BBQ Spicy Pork Provide a Sneak Peek into Roy Choi’s Vision into What He’s Cooking Up for His Las Vegas Debut

Through a Facebook Live event, Los Angeles culinary icon Roy Choi revealed the first dishes that will be served at Best Friend, debuting at Park MGM in Las Vegas on December 19. The world got its first glimpse at Chef Choi’s vision and inspiration for a restaurant that is a remixed and remastered evolution of LA’s Koreatown.

From evolved cult classics to fresh ideas, Chef Choi provided a sneak peek at the food he has in store for Best Friend.

“When you see Best Friend, I want you to have a little bit of a chuckle or a little bit of a smile with yourself – ‘cause this is place you come to have fun.” – Chef Roy Choi on Facebook Live

Dishes Revealed Include:

  • Tamarind Cod Hot Pot: Combining inspirations from both Vietnamese and Korean cuisine, this dish features tamarind spiced broth, cod and Korean vermicelli noodles. As the simmering pot is brought to diners, the cod breaks into succulent, bite-sized pieces.
  • BBQ Spicy Pork: Chef Choi brings a reimagined version of his BBQ pork to The Strip. Thinly sliced pork belly and shoulder is marinated in a sweet and spicy kochujang sauce, then charred on the plancha with onions.
  • Slippery Shrimp: Chef Choi does his own cover of classic Honey Walnut Shrimp with his own crispy rendition coating the shrimp in a creamy, spicy sauce mixed with cilantro, walnuts and sesame seeds.
  • Soon DuBu Hot Pot: Brought to American popularity through LA’s Koreatown, Best Friend will feature its own take on the spicy stew from Chef Choi’s neighborhood. The vegan dish filled with umami serves a mixture of soft and firm tofu in a spicy broth within a clay pot.
  • Fritto Misto Rogers: Best Friend’s tempura medley features an assortment of fried vegetables, such as shishito peppers and cauliflower, served with a ponzu dipping sauce.
  • Fried Bologna Sandwich: Blurring the lines of what guests expect from a Las Vegas restaurant, and a callback to his original snack food, Chef Choi has created the same Fried Bologna sandwich he used to make for himself at home. The simple and addictive combination of fried bologna and swiss cheese will make for the perfect late-night bite.

Roy Choi Shares First Look at ‘Best Friend’ Coming to Las Vegas at Park MGM

ROY CHOI SHARES FIRST LOOK AT ‘BEST FRIEND’ COMING TO LAS VEGAS AT PARK MGM

“Hip hop-to-bibimbop…. My neighborhood mixed with the Vegas good-good”

The first glimpse into Roy Choi’s vision for his Las Vegas debut at Park MGM is official. Chef Choi released the following statement and images of his original restaurant concept, Best Friend, opening this December.

“Best Friend is a remixed and remastered collection of the evolution of our Los Angeles – its food, its music, its culture.  It is the only place to sink your teeth into all the flavors from Kogi-to-Commissary and everything in between, along with fresh new ideas I’ve been cooking up for years. It’s Koreatown in a capsule – a portal to the streets of LA, but also rooted in what makes Las Vegas… VEGAS. Hip hop-to-bibimbop. Kimchi-to-spaghetti.  BBQ and late-night food. My neighborhood mixed with the Vegas good-good. I want Best Friend to energize the minds of people looking to experience the best in life. Whether they are from Hollywood or Hong Kong, D.C. or Down Under, I hope all guests are licking their fingers with their mouths full saying ‘holy sh!t’ as they reach across the table for another bite. LA food in Las Vegas. Los Vegas. Best Friend. Forever.” – Roy Choi

La La Noodle Coming to Park MGM this Fall

La La Noodle Coming to Park MGM this Fall

Hand-Pulled Noodle Eatery’s November Opening Expands Culinary Program for Newly Transformed Las Vegas Resort

Park MGM adds to its portfolio of original restaurants with La La Noodle, a new concept, debuting this November. Serving authentic Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai cuisine, La La Noodle will be a casual destination where guests will enjoy a lively yet relaxed atmosphere while savoring a selection of noodle, seafood, meat, vegetable and rice dishes.

“La La Noodle’s covered outdoor patio and prime location near Park Theater will make it the ideal pre- or post-show destination,” said Park MGM President & COO Patrick Miller. “Whether it’s a quick lunch from the walk-up counter or a big family-style dinner, La La Noodle will deliver fun and flavorful culinary experiences for Park MGM guests.”

Named after the Mandarin term for pulled – 拉 (pronounced lah) – La La Noodle will feature familiar and savory hand-pulled noodle dishes such as Pork Belly Noodles and Chicken Chow Mein, as well as regional delicacies such as Hong Kong Seafood Crispy Noodles with shrimp, scallops and squid. In addition to noodles, mouthwatering entrées will round out the menu including Vietnamese Braised Catfish, served in a clay pot with fish sauce, chiles and garlic.

The restaurant’s minimalist design, conceptualized by New York City’s Parts and Labor Design, will harmonize with the kitchen’s hand-crafted menu. The music program will be a throwback to the 1980s, when America’s growing interest in authentic Chinese cuisine collided with Western music in a euphoric cultural exchange.

With the addition of La La Noodle, Park MGM will be one step closer to its full transformation from the former Monte Carlo into a new Las Vegas resort experience created by Sydell Group and MGM Resorts. The collaborative vision reimagines every element of the central Strip property and creates two new distinct hotel experiences: Park MGM, and a Las Vegas version of Sydell’s widely acclaimed NoMad Hotel.

Los Angeles culinary legend Roy Choi will electrify the Las Vegas dining scene in the fall of 2018 with the debut of a Koreatown-inspired concept. Choi’s multifaceted, multisensory experience will be a dynamic destination within the transformation of Monte Carlo into Park MGM.

“I cannot wait to share what we have in store for Las Vegas at Park MGM,” said Choi. “This restaurant will be full of soul and culture that is influenced by the energy of Koreatown in Los Angeles, my hometown.”

The soon-to-be-named restaurant will be a celebration of L.A.’s Koreatown district featuring immersive spaces that feel comfortable and familiar, while creating an eclectic environment for people to open their perceptions to the new and extraordinary.

With a show designed specifically for this intimate venue, Lady Gaga will launch a two-year, multi-date love affair with Las Vegas.

Lady Gaga said, “It’s the land of Elvis, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, the Rat Pack, Elton John, Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli. It has been a life-long dream of mine to play Las Vegas. I am humbled to be a part of a historical line-up of performers, and to have the honor of creating a new show unlike anything Vegas has ever seen before. I’ll tell you exactly what I told my MGM and Park Theater partners – you can count on this performer always for one thing…I’ll leave my heart on the stage every single night. Thank you to my fans for always believing in me. Meet me in Las Vegas baby, we did it!”

Bill Hornbuckle, President of MGM Resorts International said, “Our announcement today of Lady Gaga joining an amazing lineup of talent at Park Theater is monumental for Lady Gaga fans, MGM Resorts and the Park MGM brand. We have all been wowed by Lady Gaga’s raw talent, but the passion, commitment and creativity she is prepared to bring to this engagement will truly be transformational…Las Vegas, get ready to become the Entertainment Capital of the Universe.”

The 5,300-seat Park Theater, with its state-of-the-art audio and visual technology, provides artists an exclusive space to create one-of-a-kind productions where every seat allows guests to feel up close and personal. Having opened in December 2016, Park Theater was the first step in the transformation of Monte Carlo in a partnership between MGM Resorts and Sydell Group to create two new distinct hotel experiences – a Las Vegas version of Sydell Group’s famed NoMad Hotel and the launch of a new luxury hotel named Park MGM. Each hotel will feature fully redesigned hotel guest rooms and innovative food & beverage offerings, highlighted by Eataly, a vibrant Italian marketplace with cafes, to-go counters and full-service restaurants interspersed with high-quality products from sustainable Italian and local producers.
