High school musicians take stage at Bringin’ Down The House 2012 presented by House of Blues Foundation

Thirteen local bands, groups, and solo performers will take the stage at House of Blues Las Vegas (3950 Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas) as part of the International House of Blues Foundation ® (IHOBF) Bringin’ Down the House 2012 competition for high school musicians on Thursday, October 25 at 5 p.m.; Doors at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale at www.HOB.com/LasVegas or call (702) 632-7600.

Offered as part of IHOBF’s Action for the Arts® initiative, this event creates opportunities for youth to perform onstage at House of Blues, to pay tribute to blues and blues-inspired music, and to support local youth arts programs.

“This competition is an outstanding opportunity for youth from our community to showcase their talent,” said IHOBF Program Manager Laura Clark.

Prizes include Guitar Center gift cards, concert tickets, and more! First place winners will advance to a national online competition. Details available on www.ActionForTheArts.org. Open to high school students enrolled in grades 9-12, Bringin’ Down the House 2012 will link today’s young performers with their musical roots.

 

“This is more than a competition – we’re really paying tribute to some of the great musical innovators and innovations that have contributed to the development of blues and blues-inspired music,” said IHOBF Program Manager Laura Clark. “Blues has influenced so many genres, from jazz to gospel, soul, funk, rhythm and blues, rock, rap and hip hop.”
