Deeply insightful rock photography: Live Design International and A.C.T Lighting present, ‘In the Eye of the Rock‘n’Roll Hurricane,’ which travels through 45 years of rock history
American photographer Neal Preston is one of the greats of international music photography. From Bruce Springsteen to Led Zeppelin, from Mick Jagger to Queen, his subjects read like a Who’s Who of music icons. “In the Eye of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hurricane,” one of the largest rock’n’roll photography exhibitions ever in the US, is scheduled to run Friday October 23, 2015 through Sunday October 25, 2015. Visitors to the LDI Conference and Tradeshow as well as the general public will have a chance to visit the exhibition.
This world-touring exhibition is provided by the Lightpower Collection. Lightpower is the leading distributor of stage and studio lighting equipment in Europe, established in 1978. The exhibition offers a unique insight into 45 years of rock history, showcasing powerful, intimate images that capture musicians in their creative and personal environments and are authentic testimonies of life, with its highs and lows, on and behind the stage. The multi-media exhibition features over 70 works from this iconic artist. Although many of the photographs that will be showcased at LDI have appeared previously in international magazines and books, in countless television programs and album artwork, the exhibition also includes works that have never previously been seen in the States.
The exhibition is presented by A.C.T Lighting, the leading North American importer and distributor of entertainment lighting technology products, and LDI International, the leading global tradeshow and conference for live design professionals.
“Our industry is built around supporting and spotlighting the talent of such acts as AC/DC, Queen, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin and the full spectrum of bands throughout the 20th and 21st centuries,” explains David Johnson, Managing Director of Live Design and LDI. “This exhibit gives us an opportunity to see the people behind the legendary shows, to get a glimpse of true greatness up close and personal.”
The exhibition, where Neal Preston will be in attendance, also includes insights from the artist himself into his creative work. “We have created something much greater than just a collection of fine-art music photography prints. This is a living, breathing exhibition on a grand scale where the pictures seems to come alive, and capture the same excitement and passion that I felt – and still feel – while photographing the most legendary, iconic artists in rock ‘n’ roll history,” says Neal Preston.
“Our goal is for the viewer to have a visceral experience, and through the photographs be able to actually feel the power and energy of being on stage performing for tens of thousands of people, and then feel what it’s like backstage, touring at a grueling pace, and more,” he explains. “The Lightpower Collection has put together a truly unique photography exhibition that captures the magic of those incredible times – and it has made me realize how fortunate I have been to have been given the opportunity to document all of this from the inside out.”
The exhibition is also emphasizes the organizers’ commitment to the global event industry. All proceeds generated by the sale of fine art prints and other ancillary merchandise will be included in a donation to the Behind the Scenes charity, which provides financial support to entertainment technology industry professionals when they are ill or injured or to their surviving family members. Behind the Scenes brings help and hope in times of great need.
