LAS VEGAS STRIP TO GO BLUE TONIGHT IN SUPPORT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT – Go True Blue – Jan. 6 @ 6:25 PM

Iconic Vegas Marquees Illuminate Blue
to Show Support of Law Enforcement at 6:25 pm, Jan. 6

Community urged to show support on social media via #GoTrueBlue

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation’s Go True Blue campaign kicked off today, beginning a year-long drive to honor hardworking local officers and law enforcement professionals. Officials gathered this morning at the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign on the Las Vegas Strip to launch the initiative. In attendance were Clark County Commissioners Michael Naft and Justin Jones, LVMPD Undersheriff Chris Darcy and LVMPD Foundation Executive Director Tom Kovach.

Strip resorts, downtown properties, and businesses around the valley (see list below) will illuminate their iconic marquees and building facades in blue light to express their support on January 6 from 6:25 to 6:30 p.m.

The LVMPD Foundation created Go True Blue as a vehicle for community members to show their support for LVMPD and to strengthen partnerships between LVMPD officers and companies and residents of Southern Nevada. The event is in conjunction with Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD).

“While LEAD is officially just one calendar day, we promote the Go True Blue campaign throughout the entire year to show gratitude to our officers for all they do,” says Tom Kovach, Executive Director of the LVMPD Foundation. “Thanks to the generous support from many organizations and individuals, the Foundation works to advance community engagement initiatives that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department does for our community.”

Ten ways Nevadans can show their support of law enforcement:

  1. Show Your Support. Wear blue shirts or jeans with pride to work, school or play.
  2. Get Involved. Drop off a special treat or thank you note to your local area commands.
  3. Say Thank You. If you see a police officer, thank them for their service.
  4. Draw a Picture. Ask children to draw a picture of gratitude and support of law enforcement and post on social media using #GoTrueBlue #LVMPDFoundation.
  5. Ask a police officer to come to your school, youth organization, church group, and clubs to engage with the community positively.
  6. Share Your Positive Story. Express gratitude for local law enforcement on social media using #GoTrueBlue #LVMPDFoundation.

  1. Donate to Crime Stoppers at lvmpdfoundation.org/donate.
  2. Register your car at the DMV for an LVMPD Foundation specialty license plate.
  3. Purchase LVMPD merchandise and apparel online or at our new kiosk at Fashion Show Mall Las Vegas.
  4. Hold a fundraiser to raise awareness and funds for public safety programs and crime prevention initiatives that make us all safer.
