THE UNDERGROUND AT THE MOB MUSEUM ANNOUNCES MARCH EVENTS, COCKTAIL SPECIALS, ENTERTAINMENT
The Underground speakeasy and distillery at The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, announces its roster of live entertainment, events and cocktail specials for March.
National Absinthe Day – Absinthe Frappe
Dates: Tuesday, March 5 through Friday, March 8
Time: Available Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to midnight.
Location: The Underground speakeasy and distillery.
Cost: $14
Description: As the temperance movement took off in the late 1800s, absinthe bore the brunt of the teetotaler’s fight unlike any other spirit of the day. The overproof French liquor had been falsely linked to hallucinations due to its wormwood content and was subsequently banned throughout Europe in the early 1900s. In America, the licorice spirit was banned from 1912 until 2007 when the FDA and TTB legalized absinthe sans thujone, the compound found in untreated wormwood. This Absinthe Day, celebrate with the Absinthe Frappe, crafted with Absente Absinthe, sambuca, simple syrup for sweetness and a pinch of salt for balance.
St. Patrick’s Day Cocktail – The County Cork
Date: Thursday, March 14 through Sunday, March 17
Time: Available Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to midnight and Saturday and Sunday from noon to midnight.

Description: By the early 20th century, Americans were already the largest consumers of Irish whiskey, but the U.S.’s decade of Prohibition was nearly the downfall of Ireland’s beloved export. Without a foolproof way to get the then-illegal product into the country, many Irish distillers lost a huge portion of their market share and were forced to close when America went dry. However, the taste for Irish whiskey never totally evaporated. The Jameson Distillery—an almost victim of Prohibition—has since seen an incredible thirst for its signature spirit. While celebrating Ireland’s patron saint this St. Patrick’s Day, experience The Underground’s sip inspired by Irish distillers — The County Cork. The cocktail blends Capano Antica, Dry Curacao, a couple dashes of absinthe and Midleton, County Cork, Ireland’s very own Jameson Irish Whiskey.

Description: Guests are invited to join reformed mobster Frank Calabrese Jr. in The Underground distillery for the exclusive opportunity to hear stories from his past with the Chicago Outfit. Each month from now through June, Calabrese Jr. will talk about a different chapter from his life. This month he will discuss the Chicago Outfit’s complicated relationship and interactions with law enforcement.

Description: As Las Vegas’ premier speakeasy and distillery, The Underground is a must-visit destination on National Cocktail Day. With authentic, Prohibition-era cocktails, guests can imbibe with libations such as Giggle Water, a popular 1920s bubbly drink; Bathtub Fizz, an iteration of the Sloe Gin Fizz served in a bathtub-shaped glass; The Underground Old Fashioned, a classic bourbon cocktail served with light reading material; and more.

The Underground is an immersive Prohibition history exhibition featuring a speakeasy, distillery and private VIP room in the basement of The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement.
