This year, Ethel M Chocolates is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their beloved Holiday Cactus Lighting event on Nov. 12 and is inviting the community to join in on the festivities. By donating a new, unwrapped toy to a child in need, each family will receive a four-pack of tickets. Recognized as the ultimate holiday destination in Southern Nevada, the 20th Annual Cactus Lighting will be hosted by funny man George Wallace, with holiday performances by famed entertainers MO5AIC and former America’s Got Talent winner, Michael Grimm.
Tickets are required to enter the Nov. 12 event. Starting Nov. 1, a limited amount of tickets will be available at the Ethel M Chocolate factory in Henderson. Ethel M is asking guests to bring one new, unwrapped toy to the Ethel M factory in exchange for a family four-pack of tickets to the Cactus Lighting event (limit eight tickets per family). Toys that are collected from this event will later be donated in the annual KLUC Toy Drive. Toy drop-off will run from Nov. 1 – Nov. 12 at the factory location only and tickets will be distributed on a first come-first served basis. Guests may also bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Cactus Lighting event in exchange for a family four-pack of tickets, while supplies last.
The 20th Annual Cactus Lighting event will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the three-acre Botanical Cactus Garden adjacent to the Ethel M Chocolate factory in Henderson. The countdown to the lighting of more than half a million colorful lights will take place at approximately 6 p.m.
Back by popular demand, all guests of the Nov. 12 lighting event will receive 3-D glasses, with which the attraction will come to life in 3-D effect.
This annual Southern Nevada tradition is expected to attract thousands of festive chocolate lovers. In addition to the awe-inspiring cactus lighting, the Nov. 12 event will feature photos with Santa, performances by local choirs, chocolate samples, face painters, balloon artists, raffles and more. Families are welcome to take their own Santa photos for free, but a professional photographer will also be on hand taking and selling professional images for $10 each. Ethel M will sell hot chocolate and bottled water for $1 each, with all proceeds going to the philanthropic organization, Smile Train.
The Ethel M Holiday Cactus Garden will open for the season on Nov. 13 through Jan. 1 and the public is always welcome at no charge. The garden will be lit nightly from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Additionally, visitors can peek in on the factory in full holiday swing, where Ethel M Chocolates are crafted using time-honored methods and only the finest ingredients. No pets please.

MO5AIC is a 5-man vocal supernova that will leave you scratching your head wondering where “the band” is. An interesting hybrid between a band and an A cappella group, MO5AIC creates “vocally driven” music that could sonically hold its own next to any full instrumentation. Having worked with the likes of Jay Leno, Prince and Tony Bennett, MO5AIC’s interactive and finely tuned performance is great for all ages.
About Michael Grimm
With his soulful voice, Mississippi-bred Michael Grimm charmed millions of viewers as a contestant on season five of “America’s Got Talent,” parlaying his substantial singer-songwriter appeal into a first-place finish and million-dollar prize. Grimm began performing at the age of 12 and moved to Las Vegas at 21 to perform as lead guitarist in the “Legends in Concert” show. Following his win on “America’s Got Talent,” Grimm worked with Grammy-award winning producer Don Was on his eponymous debut album, which was released in 2011 to critical acclaim. Since then, Michael has toured with Stevie Nicks, taken the role of resident headliner in Las Vegas, hit the road for a 16-city National Tour “Grimm’s Fairytale Tour,” and this December is not only entering the China market with his first concert, but departing on a 10-city Christmas Tour called Oh So Acoustic Christmas.
