LVMPD Foundation Funds Easter Goodies for 6,900 Local Children;
Baskets to be distributed by LVMPD Area Commands

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation has sourced and purchased $30,000 in supplies for 2,000 Easter baskets including 21,500 plastic eggs, and 35,000 units of candy. The items were picked up this morning by Community Oriented Police (COPS) teams from eight LVMPD Area Commands at Walmart Supercenter. The supplies will be used for fun and games and distributed to children at Easter events throughout the valley during April.
Given the continued needs of so many families in Southern Nevada, the LVMPD Foundation has significantly increased funding to support community engagement initiatives like the Easter basket deliveries – initiatives that improve Metro’s relations with local residents and help to build trust with the communities they serve.
“This is the first year that the LVMPD Foundation sourced and purchased all the Easter holiday supplies thanks to contributions from our community partners,” said Tom Kovach, Executive Director, LVMPD Foundation. “We are proud to provide Easter baskets to more than 6,900 children this holiday season thanks to help from our partners, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Health Plan of Nevada. Today’s investment in the community continues to demonstrate the effect that positive community-police engagement activities can have on our youth to strengthen bonds.”
