Legendary Motown Vocal Group The Temptations Returns to The Orleans Showroom Oct. 28-29

Motown supergroup The Temptations will bring their timeless hits and iconic moves to The Orleans Showroom on Oct. 28-29.

The Temptations hit the music scene in 1960, impressing fans with their harmonic vocals, flashy wardrobe and smooth dance moves. The group signed with Motown Records in 1961 and began releasing chart-topping hits like “The Way You Do the Things You Do,” “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)” and their biggest hit, “My Girl.” The Temptations evolved their sound and style as they entered the early 1970s, releasing the hits “Runaway Child, Running Wild,” “Cloud Nine” and No. 1 single “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone.”

In their nearly sixty-year career, The Temptations have achieved tremendous musical success. With 37 top-10 hits, 15 No. 1 singles, 17 No. 1 albums and tens of millions of albums sold, they have become one of the most successful groups in music history. In 1989, The Temptations were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for their influential R&B and soul music. The group has also won seven Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.

In commemoration of their 50th anniversary, The Temptations released their latest album “Still Here,” which debuted on the Billboard Top 200 Album list in 2010.

The group’s current lineup features original member Otis Williams, along with Billy Bannister, Terry Weeks, Ron Tyson, Larry Braggs and 5 Willie Greene.

Singer, writer and entertainer Mary Wilson from the legendary Motown trio, The Supremes, returns to the Suncoast Showroom Jan. 16-17.

While growing up in Detroit’s Brewster Projects, Wilson befriended Florence Ballard, Betty McGlown and Diana Ross when she was 13. The quartet later formed a singing group, The Primettes. Wilson, Ballard and Ross were later signed to Motown Records and became known as The Supremes.

The Supremes were nominated for a Grammy Award in 1965 and 1966, garnering an unprecedented 12 “Billboard Hot 100” #1 hits, including back-to-back awards for “Where Did Our Love Go,” “Baby Love,” “Stop, In The Name Of Love” and “Back in My Arms Again.” In 1977, Wilson released her first solo album, “Mary Wilson,” which yielded the dance hit “Red Hot.”  In 1992, Wilson released her first album in 13 years, “Walk the Line,” which included the single “One Night With You.”

Between her solo efforts, Wilson released her autobiography “Dreamgirl… My Life As A Supreme” in 1986. The book has sold more than 250,000 copies and became one of the best-selling rock ’n’ roll autobiographies of all time.
