Iconic Motown Group The Temptations Bring Timeless Hits to The Orleans Showroom September 19-20

Historic Motown group The Temptations return to The Orleans Showroom on Sept. 19 and 20 with members Otis Williams, Bruce Williamson, Terry Weeks, Ron Tyson and Joe Herndon.

Legendary Motown innovators The Temptations pioneered popular music, selling tens of millions of albums with more than 50 years of smash hits and sold-out performances. An essential component of Berry Gordy’s original Motown machine, The Temptations began their musical career in Detroit in the early ‘60s.  In 1964, they scored their first major hit with the Smokey Robinson-penned and produced “The Way You Do the Things You Do.”  A cavalcade of hits followed, including “My Girl,” “It’s Growing,” “Since I Lost My Baby,” “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Beauty Is Only Skin Deep” and “I Wish It Would Rain.”

Beyond their extraordinary singing and distinct harmonies, The Temptations became known for their smooth choreography and distinctive look. “The Temptation Walk” became the staple of American style, flair, flash and class.

When the ‘60s and ‘70s turned political, The Temptations got serious. They changed their tone, dress and music with such hits as “Runaway Child,” “Cloud Nine,” “I Can’t Get Next To You,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” and “Psychedelic Shack.” The Temptations explosion continued in the ‘80s with their appearance on “Motown 25” in 1983, and into the ‘90s with an Emmy Award-winning NBC mini-series that chronicled the group’s early days and rise to fame.

To commemorate their 50th anniversary in 2010, The Temptations released the album “Still Here.” In 2012, the group performed on “Dancing with the Stars” as part of Motown Week. The group continues to tour the globe, entertaining fans everywhere with their harmonies, flair and unparalleled soul.

Aliante Casino + Hotel Kicks off Jazz Under the Stars with Guitarist Nils

Aliante Casino + Hotel launches their Jazz Under the Stars summer concert series with the smooth sounds of guitarist Nils Thursday, May 30.

Nils’s first single “Jump Start” topped the Billboard Smooth Jazz Charts and “What the Funk?” spent eight weeks at number one. His second album, “City Groove,” also produced hits with “Let’s Bounce,” which reached number two on the charts. The German born musician has worked with legends like George Clinton and George Benson and has reached platinum record success with his contributions to The Temptations’ 1998 album, “Phoenix Rising.”

Patrons can enjoy the cool sounds of today’s most talented jazz musicians every last Thursday of the month from May to August, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. The summer festivities take place at the property’s resort style pool, under the twinkling lights.

The expansive deck lined with giant palm trees and shady umbrellas make it an oasis nestled in the desert, perfect for an outdoor concert experience. Bebop into the warm weather with Jazz under the Stars – tickets are $15. For day bed and cabana reservations, visit www.aliantegaming.com or call 702.692.7777.
