With the help of music stars including Ringo Starr and Billy Preston, Frampton released his debut studio album, Wing of Change, a year later. Despite help from some of the greats, the album did not sell well and his follow-up album experienced the same fate. The album was a huge commercial success, selling over 16 million copies and topping the charts for 10 weeks straight. It also produced his first three hit singles: “Baby, I Love Your Way,” “Do You Feel Like We Do” and “Show Me the Way.” Over the years, he continued to tour, record and release new music but nothing matched the success of his live album. After he graduated, Hunt was invited to training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs but decided to move to Nashville instead to pursue a career in country music. After writing Kenny Chesney’s hit song “Come Over,” which landed at No. 1 on the music charts, Hunt shifted his focus from songwriter to solo artist. In 2013, Hunt met Zach Crowell, a producer for the Antioch rap crew, and together they released a free mix tape of acoustic songs called Between The Pines. The songs from the mix tape began averaging over 300,000 streams per day on Spotify, leading Hunt to win the 2014 cycle of Spotify’s “Emerge” program for new artists. Hunt signed with Universal Music Group’s MCA Nashville and released his debut album Montevallo. In 2014, the album debuted at No. 1 on the country charts and features a mix of sounds and styles from the aggressive dance beats of the opening “Take Your Time” to the more melodic “Make You Miss Me.”

New Year’s Eve with Bruno Mars
Thursday, Dec. 31
9:30 p.m.; Doors open at 9 p.m.
Tickets: Sold out
Packages available here

Bruno Mars is a multitalented singer, songwriter, producer and musician who feels most at home when he’s performing. Born to a musical family in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was practically raised on the stage. After working a string of behind-the-scenes jobs – including writing songs for Brandy, singing backup for the Sugababes and impersonating Elvis – Bruno Mars got his name out in 2009 when he co-wrote Flo Rida’s hit song “Right Round.” One year later, he collaborated with rapper B.o.B on “Nothin’ on You,” and co-wrote Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire,” both of which became Top 10 hits. This momentum allowed Mars to launch a solo career, and he became first male vocalist in two decades to crack the Top Ten with his first four singles. His full length debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, appeared in 2010 and quickly produced a number one single with “Just the Way You Are.” At the end of 2012, Mars released Unorthodox Jukebox that featured the lead-off single “Locked Out of Heaven” and included production from Mark Ronson, Diplo and others. Mars is an 18-time Grammy Award nominee and Grammy winner who has also performed one of the world’s most prestigious gigs, the halftime show for Super Bowl XLVIII in February 2014. This year, Mars fronted Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk,” a song he co-wrote that was among the most popular singles of the year. Although he’s incredibly proud of the recordings, Mars feels the best way to experience the sound is to see him perform live with his band, The Hooligans.

In addition to its sound, the band also experienced a changing lineup with band members constantly leaving and returning to the group. Designed to appeal to a young audience, the band released its first album for Geffen and followed it up with a North American tour featuring a number of younger bands including Interpol, Mowai, The Rapture and Muse. Over the next couple of the years, The Cure played at various festivals around the world until taking a break in 2008. After a three-year hiatus, the group began touring again and playing at festivals in Europe, North America and South America. In 2014, lead singer Smith announced that The Cure would release a new album, a follow-up to the 4:13 Dream album, as well as begin a new tour, playing three of its earlier albums in their entirety.

Bruno Mars is a multitalented singer, songwriter, producer and musician who feels most at home when he’s performing. Born to a musical family in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was practically raised on the stage. After working a string of behind-the-scenes jobs – including writing songs for Brandy, singing backup for the Sugababes and impersonating Elvis – songwriter/producer Bruno Mars got his name out in 2009 when he co-wrote Flo Rida’s hit song “Right Round.” One year later, he collaborated with rapper B.o.B on “Nothin’ on You,” and co-wrote Travie McCoy’s “Billionaire,” both of which became Top Ten hits.

Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires
Thursday, Sept. 18
9 p.m.; Doors at 8 p.m.

Soul and R&B singer Charles Bradley didn’t become a recording artist by taking the easy route. Born in Gainesville, Florida in 1948 and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Bradley spent a good part of his childhood living on the streets. A transformational moment came when his sister took him to see James Brown at the Apollo Theater in 1962, and Bradley was struck by the singer’s energy and stage manner. Bradley escaped Brooklyn by joining the Job Corps and then spent years moving around the country and working odd jobs, before he eventually relocated back to Brooklyn to work on his dream of becoming a musician. Bradley began performing his James Brown-inspired routines in local clubs such as Black Velvet, where he attracted a loyal following and eventually captured the attention of Gabriel Roth from Daptone Records. Roth immediately brought the singer into label sessions, releasing a single, “Take It as It Comes,” showcasing what Bradley had to offer as a vocalist. During this time he also met guitarist Thomas Brenneck, who released Bradley’s full album, No Time for Dreaming (2011), on his Daptone Records sub-imprint, Dunham Records. The singer received global acclaim for the album and toured relentlessly to support it. His follow-up, Victim of Love, was released in the spring of 2013.

She was heavily influenced by leading vocalists of the greatest era of music including Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Keely Smith, Julie London and June Christy. In 2010, the Jennifer Keith Quintet began an engagement every Friday and Saturday night in the Observation Bar aboard the prestigious Queen Mary in Long Beach. Juicy J
In 2006, Juicy J, the founding member and front man of Southern hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia earned an Academy Award for Best Original Song (“Hard Out Here For a Pimp” from Hustle & Flow). While most artists would look forward, Juicy J, born Jordan Michael Houston, decided to return to square one. He spent the next years creating a street team, shooting videos and releasing mixtapesall in the name of the collective Three 6 buzz. However, in addition to furthering the group, the rapper found a solo career that transformed him from one part of a colossal whole to a standalone superstar. Along the way, Juicy J met Wiz Khalifa and earned a spot in his exclusive touring rap crew the Taylor Gang. The experience inspired the rapper to build a foundation of his own called the “Trippy Movement.” The rapper’s debut solo project, Stay Trippy, has already gotten fans’ attention. Its single “BandzA Make Her Dance,” originally released on Juicy J’s Twitter page, is certified Platinum. As a solo act, Juicy J strives to record tracks that still appeal to Three 6 Mafia members, but speak to hip-hop’s next generation as well. While bridging the gap between old and new fans under one trippy umbrella, he has cracked a code most veteran rappers struggle to decipher. There is no doubt that making uncompromised music that anyone can relate to is Juicy J’s forte.

Interpol
Although formed during the late ’90s, Interpol rose to international stardom in 2002 as part of New York City’s post-punk revival. Interpol also had a striking visual presence marked by its members’ fondness for suits, which only strengthened their stately, British-influenced appeal. Following Greg Drudy’s departure, Interpol became a core trio comprised of Paul Banks (vocals and guitar), Daniel Kessler (guitar) and Sam Fogarino (drums). Hypnotic, bizarre and always indelible, the band never ceases to amaze.

Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires
Bradley began performing his James Brown-inspired routines in local clubs such as Black Velvet, where he attracted a loyal following and eventually capturing the attention of Gabriel Roth from Daptone Records.

Working internationally, the group sent files back and forth, toiling on their tracks and eventually sculpting an indie electro sound brightened by Fabi’s Stevie Nicks-inspired vocals. The band’s first single, “Wings,” produced in collaboration with St. Lucia’s Jean-Philip Grobler, was released online in 2012 to great response from fans. Waterhouse started performing as a teenager and self-released his breakthrough single “Some Place” in 2010 when he was 24.  These days, Waterhouse is a successful recording artist, with one well-received LP and several high-profile tours and collaborations to his name. His latest work still embodies the struggle of his early forays, and it’s clear from this material that Waterhouse is in the midst of his own becoming.

**RECAP** Breakfast at Piffany’s Raises $4,490 for Launch Weekend at Rose. Rabbit. Lie.

rose.rabbit.lie

cosmopolitan

This past weekend, Rose. Rabbit. Lie. at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas debuted a new chapter of amusement with the launch of Breakfast at Piffany’s.

The inaugural evening kicked off on Wednesday, April 30.  As midnight approached, an intimate crowd converged inside the Study at Rose. Rabbit. Lie. where attendees were greeted by the hosts of this late night affair – Piff the Magic Dragon and his Chihuahua sidekick Mr. Piffles.

As the night’s emcee, Piff thrusts his guests into a mystical world of hilarious trivia and tableside magic topped with an expert sleight of hand.  The duo both dazzled and harmlessly harassed guests with astounding illusions and competitions for points and prizes. Everyone is encouraged to participate and dine on the special late night dragon fare.  Concluding this evening of mayhem is a boisterous live auction that unfolds as guests bid for a delectable croissant, with all proceeds benefitting Communities In Schools of Nevada (www.cisnevada.org), which ended up being sold for $1,300.  All those who win the mouth-watering flaky treat join the exclusive Croissant Consortium, with the highest all-time bidder having their photo framed and placed on the shelves of the Study.

In all, a total of $4,490 was raised from nightly auctions for the croissant during the grand opening weekend of Breakfast at Piffany’s.  On Friday, May 2 comedian Brad Garrett along with a second guest split the coveted pastry with a combined winning bid of $1,400, but not until a man from Garrett’s team and a dainty woman with deceptively dexterous digits from another team attempted a thumb war for the top spot.  The following evening, Las Vegas Sun and Vegas Deluxe columnist / television personality Robin Leach, Communities In Schools of Nevada Board President Susie Lee, CEO of Palms Casino Resort Dan Lee, and Ellis and Yvette Landau all split the prize with a combined bid of $1,750 – the highest raised thus far.

Breakfast at Piffany’s is a complimentary experience taking place every Wednesday – Saturday from midnight until 1 a.m. in the Study at Rose. Rabbit. Lie., and is available by reservation only.  Delicacies such as Piff’s Special Biscuits, Princess Bait, The Chalice of Chocolate Milk and other edibles and refreshments are available for purchase.  All proceeds raised during each night’s croissant auction will be donated to Communities In Schools of Nevada.

To reserve a spot at Las Vegas’ most unique late night breakfast experience, e-mail RSVPiff@RoseRabbitLie.com.

Vegas Nocturne’s Piff the Magic Dragon Presents Perhaps the Most Spectacular, High-Production Show in History: Breakfast at Piffany’s

rose.rabbit.lie

VEGAS NOCTURNE’S PIFF THE MAGIC DRAGON PRESENTS PERHAPS THE MOST SPECTACULAR, HIGH-PRODUCTION SHOW IN HISTORY:
.
BREAKFAST AT PIFFANY’S

Tomorrow, Las Vegas will never be the same.  Tomorrow, the dawn will break on a new legend.  Tomorrow, a mythical, misanthropic, magical dragon and his magic performing Chihuahua will debut a new chapter of amusement for the entertainment capital of the world.  Tomorrow, Breakfast at Piffany’s inside the Study at Rose. Rabbit. Lie. finally hatches.

“Dragons do breakfast at midnight,” said Piff the Magic Dragon about the peculiar timing of his new show Breakfast at Piffany’s.  “What can I say? We’re early risers. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so we like to get it in as soon as possible. A snacky dragon is a happy dragon.”

Piff and his Chihuahua sidekick Mr. Piffles play hosts to the 30 or so patrons who can squeeze into the Study each evening/morning for Breakfast at Piffany’s.  Beginning promptly at midnight (dragons don’t do tardiness) and ending around 1 a.m. (dragons get bored easily, deal with it), Piff and Mr. Piffles will dazzle, astound and harmlessly harass the audience as everyone joins teams to compete for points and prizes.  The night culminates in the croissant auction, which benefits Communities In Schools of Nevada (but don’t tell Piff it’s for charity, he’s planning to buy a fancy new castle).

All this plus princesses, mind-reading goldfishes, performing fleas and one very important pastry.  Must we continue convincing?

Breakfast at Piffany’s is a complimentary experience available by reservation only.  Space is tight.  Super tight.  So plan ahead.  E-mail RSVPiff@RoseRabbitLie.com to schedule your Breakfast, henceforth occurring every Wednesday –Saturday from midnight until 1 a.m. in the Study at Rose. Rabbit. Lie.  Except for this coming weekend (April 30 – May 3).  The reservations for these days are already full.  Huzzah for Piff being Mr. Congeniality!

The Dragon’s Disclaimers (House Rules):

  • If you actually want breakfast, food, drinks, edibles, refreshments, sustenance or libations of any kind, you’ll have to pay for that.  We offer delicacies such as Piff’s Special Biscuits, Princess Bait and The Chalice of Chocolate Milk.
  • All females must be prepared to be a princess at any point in the evening per the dragon’s orders.
  • Attendees must love croissants.  Like, really love croissants.
  • Fish whisperers comprise a highly preferred niche of patrons.
  • Introverts need not apply.
  • Scratch the former; introverts would be especially fun to have in attendance.
  • If you ask the dragon if he can fly, you will be asked to leave.
  • You may pet and/or hold Mr. Piffles, but only when the dragon says you can and you may not exit the premises with Mr. Piffles either.
  • The special VIP booth in the back of the room is always reserved for a special VIP who will be decided each evening.  General peasants may not sit there.

PIFF THE MAGIC DRAGON

ABOUT PIFF THE MAGIC DRAGON

Ever since Piff hatched out of the egg clutching the Four of Clubs, his destiny was clear. Thus Piff set out to become the Greatest Magical Dragon of All Time, and escape from the shadow of a certain elder brother. Growing up as a dragon is hard enough, but being gifted with astounding mystic capabilities is brutal.  Kids can be mean.  Luckily, Piff never let his gifts slow him down; instead, he embraced the qualities that made him special and now he’s a Las Vegas headliner.  Take that, Jimmy the Cat Juggling Penguin.

But the road here wasn’t traveled overnight.  After years of schlepping around England’s grimiest venues, and overcoming that dark country’s ancient Dragon prejudice, Piff began to make a name for himself.  It was during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival of 2009 that Piff sallied forth to rescue a small white Chihuahua from the clutches of the deep, dark City of Dundee in Scotland (which is why Mr. Piffles has an accent when he barks).  Since then, Mr. Piffles has been a sidekick to Piff’s heroism, in charge of charming the damsels and negotiating contracts with the power of his cuteness.

Piff and Mr. Piffles had their big break during an appearance on Penn & Teller’s hit showFool Us, which led to global awareness and activism for the rights of all kinds of dragons.  It also led to a gig as the opening act for Mumford & Sons on their 17-date UK tour.  And more than 12 million YouTube hits.  Oh, and the opportunity to perform for hundreds of thousands of civilians in preposterous venues such as Radio City Music Hall and the Sydney Opera House.

Inevitably, the gregarious Evgeny Alfonso Buzukhov caught wind of this enchanted creature.  After more than a dozen offers, Alfonso finally drew up a princess and snack-laden deal that seemed pleasing to Piff and Mr. Piffles, and the prestidigitating pair can now be seen throughout the evening at Rose. Rabbit. Lie. as the official family pets of the Falzone-Buzukhov clan.

Vegas Nocturne does not live on a stage or with the rise and fall of a curtain.  It plays all night long and crescendos in three distinct ticketed shows: 7:30 p.m. (90 minutes), 9:30 p.m. (90 minutes) and Midnight (30 minutes).  Each is unique, created by the Family Falzone-Buzukhov, for most of whom English is a second language. Good luck trying to interpret any meaning, as the action sways like an elephant’s trunk with the passing hours.

ABOUT ROSE. RABBIT. LIE.

A rebirth of the social club, Rose. Rabbit. Lie. is a modern twist on clubs of the night—a truly communal venue, where the experience lies not only with the power of production, but within the excitement of improvisation. The result is an entirely new genre that blurs the lines between restaurant, bar, club and live entertainment to create a grand social experiment; one that arrives in spontaneous moments throughout the evening. This new venue delivers an unexpected mash-up featuring world-class partner Coastal Luxury Management, curating food and beverage, and entertainment partner Spiegelworld, creators of Vegas Nocturne. An ever-evolving experience, Rose. Rabbit. Lie. adheres to no standard model, follows no written rules. Come when you want. Leave when you wish. Let the night take the lead.

Here’s to us…

Evgeny “Alfonso” Buzukhov is an unpredictable fellow.  As host of Vegas Nocturne at Rose. Rabbit. Lie., you never know what he’ll do next.  Perhaps his one constant is this oath he recites each night.

The lucky few…

You see, Alfonso is a creature of the evening – one who values those who value a party.  A party unlike any they’ve ever experienced.

We shall keep forever the secrets we view…

Now, the doors to his family’s century-old mansion are open and his smorgasbord of resident entertainers have been ping-pong balls-to-the-wall excited about having guests over every weekend.

If you should reveal what we see here tonight…

“HEY ALFONSO,” shrieked Ripley, manservant to Alfonso and also his constant interruption.

“I can never complete a thought when he’s around,” said Alfonso, leaving the oath’s final line unfinished.

“ALFONSO!  There are so many hot girls who live in Las Vegas.”

“Yes, Ripley.  Do not touch them.”

Alfonso always ensures the protection of his guests and their revelry.

“Ripley, do you know what time it is?”

“Bath time?”

“No, Ripley.  Its springtime.  Spring is one of my favorite seasons of the year and we are sparing no expense to celebrate it,” said Alfonso.  “As a special treat, everyone who is a resident of the Silver State will receive free entry to our midnight show during the month of May – but only with valid identification and if they state the secret code at the door.”

“Just say ‘I WANT A MIDNIGHT SNACK’ and then you’ll totally be fine to come inside and then I’ll find you and take you to the Cloak Room so we can get into the bathtub together and–,”

“Ripley, stop it.”

You’d think Alfonso’s face would be disdainful, but after so many years of this, he shrugs off Ripley’s antics with a sigh and moves on.

“Well there you have it, the secret code. Many thanks to Ripley for being so discreet about it,” Alfonso chuckled.

Then a Chihuahua distracted Ripley and Alfonso decided it was time to get ready for nightfall.  But before closing the door to his private quarters, he turned, and with a slight sweep of the hair and the sincerest half-smile you’ll ever see, he raised his glass of champagne.

Cheers…

ABOUT EVGENY ALFONSO BUZUKHOV

In the nearly two decades since Evgeny Alfonso Buzukhov – affectionately known by many as Alfonso or Alfie – assumed responsibility as head-of-household, he has distinguished himself among Las Vegas’ first families for his unparalleled hospitality.

Rumors circulated with regards to ulterior motives behind his open door policy; it is said that this self-educated man relies on a regular influx of international and eccentric guests to cover for his own lack of worldly experience.  What’s more, Mr. Buzukhov is a frequent target of whisper campaigns that paint him as an eccentric recluse.

On the contrary, however, Mr. Buzukhov has never hidden himself behind closed doors.  His affability is confirmed to a man, and his dedication to the vitality of nightlife is the origin of several newer family institutions, including Mansion Music and the Neue Society Dancers.

One rumor that unfortunately does have an element of truth to it emanates from his dedication to spirits.  His drinking has not yet cast a shadow on the mansion’s operations, but things can get pretty upside down after he’s knocked a few back.

ABOUT RIPLEY

Practically a legend in the Valley for his eager devotion to the Falzone-Buzukhov household, Ripley serves as Evgeny Alfonso Buzukhov’s manservant.

Having fruitlessly pursued an advanced degree in Hotel Management, Ripley was installed for several years as a clerk in a housing property that catered to seasonal workers in the wind farms of Ashtabula.  The local depression – sparked by the Great Calm of 1996 combined with debilitating symptoms caused by Wind Turbine Syndrome – forced Ripley to expand his career horizon.

Lured to Las Vegas by the promise of a lucrative contract with a condominium resort, Ripley found himself locked into a situation resembling indentured servitude.  Several years went badly.

Ripley’s fortunes rapidly changed when he began his service in the Falzone Buzukhov household, where he currently implements the theories introduced to him during the first half of the first semester of his short-lived degree program.  His loyalty to the family is fierce, and his dedication to the mansion is assured by his desperate love for Hrit, Beverley’s handmaiden.

Star of Vegas Nocturne, Beverley Falzone-Buzukhov, Issues Apology for Unauthorized Advertising Campaign

rose.rabbit.lie

STAR OF VEGAS NOCTURNE, BEVERLEY FALZONE-
BUZUKHOV, ISSUES APOLOGY FOR
UNAUTHORIZED ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

Between throwing dusk-til-dawn parties inside Rose. Rabbit. Lie. at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, managing dozens of world-class performers, updating her blog about horses, and continually struggling with the western notion of needing to wear clothing at all times, Beverley Falzone-Buzukhov has had a lot on her plate lately.  But cleaning up for her friend-servant, Hrit, was not in the most recent horoscope.

“I was getting a mani/pedi by the swimming pool and opened up my magazine and had to double take the cover to make sure I wasn’t readingThe Help Weekly,” said Falzone-Buzukhov.

There it was, Hrit’s smile poking at her like the Cheshire cat.

“Look, I don’t know what happened,” she said, chef Wesley Holton’s gazpacho spilling from her lips.  “I hired a beast of a photographer – he shoots for the Kardashians for Christ’s sake – and we took my glam shots.  There was sand and hairspray and gold-leaf Grecian flip-flops.  I looked like Carmen Electra in the 90210 reboot – but better – and clearly our show isn’t getting canceled.”

She licks the bowl clean, disappointment floods her face for cheating on her tic-tac diet.

“The next thing I know someone takes this repulsive photo of Hrit and manages to turn the whole thing into some sort of advertising scheme.  Now I can’t leave the mansion without seeing her on a freaking billboard or taxicab.  Not that I take taxi’s, I don’t.  And it’s not that I don’t like her, I do.  She’s just not as facially triumphant as some other people who could have been put on these ads.”

Hrit was reached for a comment, but her Flemish gobbledygook could not be accurately recorded into a proper quotation.

It was later determined that Hrit’s photo was taken with Beverley’s iPhone.

“I swear to God you’re lying,” she said. “Someone else is up to this.  It was supposed to be my face.  My pose.  My T&A.  Sorry to anyone who is hurt or offended by seeing these advertisements of Hrit.  I’ll do everything I can to change them soon.”

BEVERLEY FALZONE-BUZUKHOV

BEVERLEY FALZONE-BUZUKHOV1

ABOUT BEVERLEY FALZONE-BUZUKHOV

Perpetually unlucky in love, Beverley Falzone-Buzukhov remains ever the optimist: she has been engaged seven times – three of those to the same man.  Points for consistency.

Beverley is as humble as she is a keen fashionista.  Upon first glance, most think “Oh, she’s rich.”  But never let the sequined onesies, chiffon gowns or perfectly sculpted calves deter you: Beverley is rich in the pocketbook and in the heart.  With a deep level of devotion, she has immersed herself in numerous pursuits outside of the mansion, primarily a charity of unquestionable efficacy.  Beverley has a long-standing and sincere passion for persuading others to roll up their sleeves and help the less fortunate.  This philanthropic way of life carries over to the mansion where she endlessly urges all guests and residents to be the best, most inebriated version of themselves possible.

In rare moments when she can find downtime, Beverley likes to browse websites about horses with links to other websites about horses, play an intense game of Uno or Clue or Trivial Pursuit, and attempt to steal thunder from her brother Alfonso in every way imaginable.

ABOUT HRIT

Widely hailed in her native country of Belgium as a key crossover artist, Hrit catapulted into public consciousness during her teenage years and became regarded by many as the Flemish Lowland’s version of Shakira.  Wide-eyed and fame hungry, Hrit emigrated to Las Vegas where she landed a comprehensive worldwide contract including a 2-album recording deal, branded merchandise with distribution points at every adult arcade in the greater Southern Nevada area, and a corporate sponsorship with the nation’s leading motel operator to create a new, extended-stay RV park – Hritel 8.  Following a handshake to secure her first walk-on role in a made-for-TV mini-series about Agatha Christie, Hrit was devastated to discover that her landlord/talent agent falsified every contract she signed since paddle boating to America.

That was 12 years ago.  Penniless and pantless in the desert, Hrit gamely landed on her feet in the service of Beverley Falzone-Buzukhov, where her joie de vivre made her invaluable to the family – and to Beverley in particular.

Hrit’s stateside debut EP, Hrits & Misses: A Best-Of Collection, will soon be available exclusively for download at the Falzone-Buzukhov family website. She continues to pursue a career in the performing arts and has strong expectations for a cameo on Season 6 of Downton Abbey, for which she is always rehearsing.
