Multi-PLATINUM selling singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley has built a reputation as both a forever-young drifter and a dedicated family man, put in millions of miles on headlining tours and taken the fearless stylistic detours of a truly authentic artist. He continues that journey with his highly anticipated ninth studio album, THE MOUNTAIN (Capitol Records Nashville), set for release June 8th. Reaching a new creative high, Bentley co-wrote 10 of the 13 new tracks that are unified by themes of presence and positivity, and range in style from textured rock to acoustic folk, feeling both rooted and expansive at the same time.

THE MOUNTAIN’s story begins in the Rocky Mountain resort town of Telluride, Colorado, which every summer plays host to a celebrated bluegrass festival. Owing to his well-documented love of the genre, Bentley has attended the festival multiple times over the years, always making a point to slow down and tune back in to the world around him. But after performing on the festival’s main stage in 2017, the idyllic surroundings became more than a much-needed getaway.

“I found myself there, constantly reaching for my guitar,” Bentley said. “It was like a gravitational pull. That town and those people just make you want to be creative, I couldn’t describe it. I was like ‘How do I tell everyone in Nashville this is what I want to write about?’ I realized I couldn’t bring it back, so I had to take everyone out there.”

Returning that August with six of his most trusted songwriting collaborators, Bentley and his fellow ‘Telluwriters’ all bunked up in a small house, explored the area and dug deep into the peaceful, reflective vibes he was feeling. They had five days to work with and were hoping to write eight songs…but ended up with nearly twice that number, forming the core of the record. Bentley returned to Telluride with his production team Ross Copperman, Jon Randall Stewart and Arturo Buenahora Jr to a tucked-away hideout called Studio in the Clouds last November to record. Perched high on a mesa, its tracking room overlooking the endless Rocky Mountain landscape, THE MOUNTAIN rose up in earnest.

“For me it’s the best of both worlds, and it feels like something new. It’s powerful but also happy, with acoustic sensibility mixed in with the big sounds I like to have for the road,” Bentley added. “They are the songs I’d play for somebody to say, ‘This is who I am right now.’”

DESERT SON IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FLAG & ANTHEM

First Season Of The Customized Collection Available at National Retailers Including
Buckle, Von Maur and Dillard’s This Month

Singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley has partnered with Flag & Anthem to create an exclusive new lifestyle collection, Desert Son, launching this month. With its name inspired by some of the more autobiographical lyrics off his upcoming ninth studio album, THE MOUNTAIN, the initial Spring offering will feature primarily men’s items including vintage-washed tees, raglans, hoodies and hats along with a handful of women’s tees. Desert Son will continue to roll-out with 2018 Summer and Fall assortments including button-down shirts, knit tops, denim and jackets. Working alongside his longtime stylist Annie Psaltiras, the two created a line customized to reflect Bentley’s own personal style. Desert Son is now available at retailers including Buckle, Von Maur and Dillard’s and online at flagandanthem.com.

“This has been such a fun thing to create and develop. I love clothes that are perfectly worn-in like you’ve had them a lifetime, but can also take the wear and tear that comes from an active lifestyle,” explained Bentley. “I’ve learned over the last few months that there’s a real art to getting that just right. The Flag & Anthem guys have been doing it at the highest level and have helped me put together a collection that I think is totally authentic to me and one that hopefully people all over the country will dig too.”

“Dierks’ lifestyle perfectly embodies our brand,” said Flag & Anthem co-founder Brad Gartman. “There is a strong synergy between his fans and our customer. We see Dierks and Desert Son as a natural integration with Flag & Anthem and look forward to a long partnership.”

The Desert Son campaign captures the essence of Bentley’s new clothing line as he traveled back to his home state of Arizona for its iconic landscapes.

Flag & Anthem is a premium quality Men’s brand started by two guys who worked in the business long enough to know something was missing. Their attention to quality, detail and fit at affordable prices sets the brand apart from the rest. The collection features casual button-downs, elevated knitwear, signature chinos and newly launched woven shirts for women. The brand exemplifies a refined, rugged look with an authentic, vintage aesthetic.

Multi-PLATINUM entertainer Dierks Bentley is “notorious for his spectacular, high-energy live performances loaded with lots of fan interaction” (Creative Loafing) with 17 No. One hits, more than one billion digital streams, countless nominations from the ACM, CMA, GRAMMY and Billboard Music Awards and has been a Grand Ole Opry member for over a decade. Bentley “continues to challenge himself” (Billboard), which is evident through his upcoming ninth studio album, THE MOUNTAIN due out later this year. Its lead single “Woman, Amen” gives a taste of the record’s “themes of questing and self-actualization across a wide-open terrain of arid deserts and rugged ridgelines, cactus flowers and tumbleweeds,” (NPR). After his 2017 WHAT THE HELL WORLD TOUR claimed the top spot on Billboard’s Hot Tours selling over 750,000 tickets, Bentley will fuel arenas and amphitheaters throughout the summer with his 2018 MOUNTAIN HIGH TOUR, launching May 17th in Columbia, MD. The Soaring Track Is Available Now and Makes Its Television Debut Tomorrow on
The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley found himself instantly intrigued with the idea of “Woman, Amen” when it was thrown out during a Fall co-write with songwriters Josh Kear and Ross Copperman. The result is a deeply sincere and personal message of love and gratitude made universal and then freed to soar with signature acoustic instrumentation and a full-throated anthemic chorus. Available now at Country Radio and with all digital partners, Bentley will perform the lead track from his next studio album THE MOUNTAIN tomorrow on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (1/18, check local listings).

“My wife and our relationship has been the one constant element in my life over all the ups and downs of my career and personal life,” shared Bentley. “Our journey together has made me the man I am today. I doubt my heart would even recognize the old me. This song addresses that in the most direct possible way. The personal gratitude expressed in the lyrics, mixed with a track that leans heavily on some bigger sounds, is the perfect way to introduce the album.”

Since moving to Nashville, Bentley has brought a distinguishable grit and songwriting prowess to his recordings, and he’s consistently recreated his sound with a fearlessness that has won him both critical acclaim and commercial viability. Billboard gives breadth to his latest evolution with a video glimpse into the epic landscapes of Colorado and the studio atop a Telluride mesa where the song was recorded. Last week, NPR previewed new music from THE MOUNTAIN (Capitol Records Nashville), which will be released in early 2018. “He pursues themes of questing and self-actualization across a wide-open terrain of arid deserts and rugged ridgelines, cactus flowers and tumbleweeds” (NPR) as the writing process came together quickly when Bentley returned to Telluride a short time later for a retreat with fellow Nashville songwriters. Guitars, banjos, mandolins and fiddles are given room to shine, and integrated into modern drum and bass sounds that will fuel the arenas and amphitheaters on the road. For PLATINUM singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley, there was something entirely captivating about performing this past summer at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Surrounded by his musical heroes, deep in the box canyon of the Colorado mountain town, the course was set for the creative process of Bentley’s ninth studio album, THE MOUNTAIN (Capitol Records Nashville), which will be released in early 2018.

The writing process came together quickly when Bentley returned to Telluride a short time later for a retreat with fellow songwriters Natalie Hemby, Luke Dick, Ross Copperman, Jon Randall, Jon Nite and Ashley Gorley. The bulk of the album’s songs, including the title track were written during that week, which Bentley describes as the most inspiring creative experience he’s ever had.

“Telluride just makes you want to reach for your guitar,” described Bentley. “We all went out there and got completely off the grid…out of our normal element and the grind that happens on Music Row and it was, from the very get-go, magic. We’d wake up every morning, grab a coffee, take the gondola up, watch the sun come up over the mountains, and by 8:30 we were writing. We just wrote non-stop.”

Just two months later, Bentley returned to Telluride with his production team including producers Ross Copperman, Jon Randall, and executive producer Arturo Buenahora Jr., along with an array of musicians to record those songs in a small studio atop a mesa outside of town. Guitars, banjos, mandolins, and fiddles are given room to shine, and they’re integrated into modern drum and bass sounds that will fuel the arenas and amphitheaters of Bentley’s 2018 tour. Known for his rare ability to blend styles, Bentley once again expertly weaves ambitious, complex sounds and material, reflective of his own personal journey as a man, husband, father and performer.

“Obviously, the songs were written and recorded in the mountains. But it’s the mountain that we’re all faced with every day, and the struggle to put one foot in front of the other even when things are hard, that we all have in common. Looking back now, I think we were all searching for hope and optimism when we were writing this music.”

“Arizona-born, arena-headlining singer and songwriter Dierks Bentley has gotten along just fine in this environment by delivering rustic romps even as he allows himself room for artistic exploration,” NPR adds in anticipation of the new music.
