Union Village begins raising funds to construct skilled nursing facility,
acute care hospital and retirement community

Las Vegas Athletic Clubs (LVAC) has signed an agreement with Union Village, LLC to construct an 85,000-square-foot athletic, fitness and family-orientated exercise facility on 10-acres of land within the healthcare complex.

Once completed, the athletic club’s amenities will include an indoor running track, indoor pool, women’s only training area, spa, steam and sauna, cardio entertainment center, group fitness classes, kid’s playroom, juice bar, racquetball courts, personal training and more.  The club will be integrated into Union Village’s main promenade, easily connecting it to all other aspects of the project.  LVAC expects to begin construction by the end of 2015.

“Our location in Union Village will bring all of the great facilities and amenities we have in our existing locations. Residents of Henderson, Lake Las Vegas and adjoining areas will greatly appreciate the best possible value in fitness anywhere in the world,” remarked Chad Smith, executive vice president at Las Vegas Athletic Clubs.

Elsewhere within the 170-acre project, Union Village has retained Mission Capital Advisors, LLC as exclusive capital advisors to raise a total of $95 million in construction financing and joint venture equity for the development of a 125-bed skilled nursing facility, 40-bed long-term acute care hospital and 360-unit continuing care retirement community.

Called Union Village, the visionary model for health care will offer a world-class hospital complex and health center, residential, entertainment and specialty retail space, a vibrant senior retirement community and a civic and cultural arts center integrated into a master-planned community.  Construction on the $1.2 billion project began in October 2014 when The Valley Health System broke ground on a brand new 142-bed acute care hospital called Henderson Hospital, its sixth facility in Southern Nevada.

Union Village Submits Final Master Plan for its Integrated Health Village

Expanded Project to Include Central Christian Church

Union Village has filed with the City of Henderson a Master Plan for the first Integrated Health Village in the world, located at the intersection of I-515/US 93/95 Interstate and Galleria Drive.

The Master Plan places Union Centre, the project’s state-of-the-art healthcare center, on the site’s southeast section at the intersection of Galleria Drive and Gibson Road. This location allows the project’s integrated hospital complex, including an Acute Care Hospital, Cancer Hospital, Continuing Care Hospital and Children’s Hospital, improved access to both the I-515/US 93/95 Interstate and Boulder Highway and the ability to take advantage of the site’s topography, allowing for public and emergency entries on different levels.

“By placing Union Centre at the corner of Galleria and Gibson, our hospitals and healthcare facilities will be able to quickly transport future patients to and from Union Village, reducing travel time,” said Union Village Project Manager Bill Foulkes. “This makes the Union Plaza retail center more visible from the freeway and accessible from the Russell Road Interchange and Central Christian Church.”

Located on 57 acres north of Union Village, Central Christian Church is now included within the Master Plan, expanding the site to a total of 228 acres. In the final plan, portions of Union Plaza, the project’s retail, restaurant, entertainment and residential complex, and Union Park, the village’s cultural center, will be adjacent to the church. Union Place, the senior care center for the village, will border the existing housing in the area.

“Coordinating activities with the parking, restaurants, theater, hotels and meeting space in Union Village can enhance our services to our congregation and the community,” said Geoff Sage, chief financial officer and treasurer at Central Christian Church. “We are excited about continuing to develop a Master Plan that helps Central Christian serve others.”

The project, which is expected to generate 17,000 jobs and billions of dollars in tax revenues for the local and state economies, brings together some of the world’s foremost experts in health and technology planners, designers, architects and builders. The result will be an architecturally pleasing, technologically innovative and environmentally sustainable master-planned health village as a center of excellence for the Las Vegas community and the state of Nevada.
