ZZ Top Legend Billy F. Gibbons to Join Morris Day and The Time for
Back-to-Back Performances at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower

Additional special guests may be announced leading up
to the shows on Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30

The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower and SPI Entertainment today announced that Billy F. Gibbons, the vocalist and guitarist of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band, ZZ Top, will join Morris Day and The Time as a special guest performer on Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30. Morris Day and The Time to perform their single, “Too Much Girl 4 Me,” live for the first time. Tickets to the show, which will be held at The STRAT Theater, are on sale now on The STRAT’s website, linked here.

“ZZ Top’s original blues rock sound is in a league all their own and coming together with my friend, Billy Gibbons, to make a song together, it was pure magic,” said Day. “We’ve chosen Las Vegas as the first place for us to perform “Too Much Girl 4 Me” together, live, and it’s going to be a party.”

After spending his early career as the guitarist of the band, the Coachmen, which was later renamed the Moving Sidewalks, Gibbons sought to form a more boogie and blues rock-based band. In 1969, Gibbons co-founded ZZ Top alongside bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard. The band released five classic albums over the next six years, including the 1970s self-titled debut, “Rio Grande Mud” in 1972, “Tres Hombres” in 1973, “Fandango” in 1975 and “Tejas” in 1976, propelling ZZ Top to become one of the country’s top rock bands. In 1983, the band released multi-platinum album “Eliminator,” including smash hits “Sharp Dressed Man,” “Gimme All Your Lovin’” and “Legs.”

As the charismatic front man of the iconic ’80s funk group, Day will bring his signature flare, fashion and funk to The STRAT. Day was childhood friends with Prince, one of the greatest performers in music history, and sang in his first band, Grand Central. He was chosen by Prince to lead The Time, which he created as his alter-ego in music as a cool, streetwise funk band to contrast Prince and the Revolution’s soulful rhythm and blues sound. Day and The Time were cast in “Purple Rain,” which captured the exploding Minneapolis music scene at its peak. The group’s famed scenes in Prince’s film cemented their place in pop culture, as the film is revered as one of the best music movies ever.

Following the filming, Day burst into the public scene with the group’s self-titled 1981 album, “The Time,” which included hit songs “Get It Up,” “Cool” and “Girl.” The group went on to record three more albums, including the 1982 “What Time Is It?,” featuring the hits “777-9311,” “Wild And Loose,” “Walk” and “Gigolos Get Lonely Too”; and “Ice Cream Castle” in 1984, which included the hit “Jungle Love.” After three albums, Day launched his solo career, releasing albums including “Color Of Success” in 1985, “Daydreaming” in 1987 and “Guaranteed” in 1992. Day recently released his fifth and final solo album, “Last Call,” in 2022, which debuted at No. 1 on iTunes’ Top 100 R&B chart.

Show times will be at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7 p.m. Ticket prices start at $75 and can be purchased at http://tickets.thestrat.com/MorrisDay. Tickets for “The Cool Life VIP Experience,” including pre-show soundcheck experience; an autographed copy of Day’s book and “Las Call” CD; and photo with Day, will also be available starting at $500.

Accommodating up to 950 guests, The STRAT Theater includes a party pit directly in front of the stage, making it one of the most intimate showrooms in Las Vegas. Prior to Morris Day and The Time’s shows, the Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar; epic rock band, Cheap Trick; and GRAMMY award winner, Rick Springfield, have most recently taken the iconic stage.
