Nearly two weeks away from one of the biggest social events in Las Vegas, Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) is honored to announce its roster of Las Vegas entertainers taking the stage at the 27th annual Black & White Party held at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Hosted by Chris Saldaña, television anchor/host, popular morning radio personality Lauren Michaels from 98.5 KLUC’s “Chet Buchanan and The Morning Zoo,” and Jaymes and James, “Team Chippendales,” from CBS’ “The Amazing Race,” Black & White Party will feature DJ Axis, MICS and electro pop duo Mr.J & M.A.U aka J&M spinning.
This year’s festivities will include a headline performance from vocal impressionist Véronic, currently headlining at Bally’s Las Vegas. Known for her extraordinary ability to transform her voice into those of the world’s biggest superstars, Véronic’s resident show features imitations of Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Tina Turner, Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston, Katy Perry, Dolly Parton and more. The one-woman vocal phenomenon will present a vignette of her pitch-perfect impersonations to Black & White Party goers.
Other performances lined up for this year include the cast of “The D*Word-A Musical;” famed Britney Spears impersonator Derrick Barry from Divas Las Vegas; the ladies of FANTASY at Luxor; singer Maren Wade from NBC’s “America’s Got Talent”; Mark Shunock, the star of “Rock of Ages” at The Venetian; the high-energy percussion, humor and athleticism of Recycled Percussion at The Quad Resort & Casino; the sexy acrobatics of The Skating Aratas from “V-The Ultimate Variety Show” from the V Theater in Planet Hollywood; a number from Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding; headlining acts from “VEGAS! The Show” from the Saxe Theater in Planet Hollywood; and Zodiac Dragon, a multi-genre multimedia immersion.
In addition to the over-the-top stage performers, guests will enjoy engaging and eye-catching atmospheric entertainers including live art painting, roaming characters, sword swallowers, hand magicians and impromptu performances by Nevada Ballet Theatre among others.
Celebrating its 27th anniversary in 2013, the Black & White Party began as a humble gathering of community members in 1986 to collect canned foods for those living with HIV/AIDS in Nevada. Held at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel, the Black & White Party will feature more than 25 unique food & beverage vendors, exciting raffle prizes, fashion contests and live entertainment.
General admission tickets are on sale for $35 per person; limited VIP tickets are available for $100 per person and include early entry to the event at 8 p.m. with first access to tastings and vendors, an exclusive gift bag and distinctive VIP party entertainment.
