RISE AGAINST ADDED TO THE LINEUP FOR ROCK IN RIO USA TAKING PLACE MAY 2015 IN LAS VEGAS
The Punk Rock Band is Scheduled to Appear on the Main Stage on the Same Date as Metallica and Linkin Park
Rock in Rio has announced Rise Against will perform on the Main Stage during the first weekend of Rock in Rio USA, taking place in Las Vegas on May 8-9 and 15-16, 2015. The Chicago punk rock band will appear on May 9, the same date as previously announced Main Stage performers Metallica and Linkin Park.
After 15 years, and six incendiary albums, Rise Against have become one of the most successful, challenging and revered punk rock bands on the planet. While selling four million albums globally across their last four releases — with 2011’s “Endgame” debuting at number one in Germany and Canada, and number two on the U.S. Billboard charts — they’ve also always adhered to the idea of music as a vehicle for change. Rise Against’s new album “The Black Market” debuted at #3 on Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart and the debuted at #1 in Germany, Australia and Canada where it has already achieved gold status.
In doing so, they’ve appeared alongside superstars like Adele and Sting on Amnesty International’s “Chimes Of Freedom — The Songs Of Bob Dylan” compilation in 2012, toured with Rage Against The Machine’s iconic guitarist Tom Morello, campaigned against gun violence with the Demand A Plan organization and advocated the Make It Stop campaign’s attempt to raise awareness of LBGT teen suicides and bullying, working closely with “It Gets Better.” It’s important to keep this rich heritage of protest in mind when discussing “The Black Market.”
Rise Against is the latest addition to an already stellar Main Stage lineup including Bruno Mars, No Doubt, Metallica, Linkin Park, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and many others to come. Rock in Rio has also announced initial artists for the festival’s Sunset Stage including Deftones, John Legend and Joss Stone.
Rock in Rio USA will take over the Las Vegas Strip for the first time on May 8-9 and May 15-16, 2015. The City of Rock will host more than 100 performances over 4 days. The venue will also host three Rock Streets that capture the sounds and culture of Brazil, UK and the U.S. with dozens of performers, bands and street artists, as well as an Electronic Stage.
