Quik was the name of the game at LAX Nightclub Saturday, Feb. 18, when the hip-hop artist performed for a shoulder-to-shoulder audience. With special guests including his son David Blake, Jr. and Hi-C in tow, DJ Quik performed a set list of his greatest hits while making it rain Rosé on a legion of enthusiastic and adoring fans.

West Coast rapper DJ Quik released his debut album “Quik Is the Name” in 1990. The platinum-selling album spawned two radio hits: “Tonite” and “Born and Raised in Compton.” DJ Quik has steadily recorded new music over the years, while also racking up a list of production credits with artists including Tupac, Shaquille O’Neal, Xzibit, Talib Kweli, Jay-Z, Jadakiss, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, and more.

Thursday, Feb. 23, Mystikal will return to the LAX Nightclub stage as part of the venue’s acclaimed Throwback Thursday series.

West Coast Rap Maverick Too Short Returned to LAX Nightclub for Throwback Thursday, Jan. 26

 

Everybody was gettin’ some Too Short at LAX Nightclub inside Luxor Hotel and Casino Thursday, Jan. 26, when the hip-hop icon made his return to the venue’s renowned Throwback series. The “Short but Funky” rapper performed a rousing rendition of hits including “I’m a Player,” “Gettin’ It,” “Shake that Monkey,” and “Blow the Whistle” to a jam-packed house of partygoers.

Born Todd Anthony Shaw, Too Short holds the distinction of being one of the few artists to collaborate with both Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. during the heights of their careers. Most recently, the hip-hop icon worked with notable artists including Jay Z, Chris Brown, and Lady Gaga. Too Short recently released “Ain’t My Girlfriend” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Jeremih and French Montana. The song is the lead single off his forthcoming album, slated for release March 10, 2017.

On Thursday, Feb. 9, rap revolutionaries 2 Live Crew will take the stage at LAX Nightclub to perform their racy party anthems that left a mark on music history.

Queen of house Robin S. brought her vocal prowess to LAX Nightclub Thursday, Jan. 12 as the latest headliner in the venue’s signature Throwback Thursday series. The enthusiastic audience showed the singing sensation love as she performed hits including “Luv 4 Luv,” “It Must Be Love,” and “Shout It Out Loud,” the artist’s collaboration with DJ Escape, which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs in 2016.

Robin S. made music history with her hit single “Show Me Love,” which upon its release was one of the highest-charting house music hits to date. Several artists have paid tribute to the anthem including Jason Derulo and Kid Ink, who sampled the song.

GRAMMY-nominated Oakland hip-hop duo Luniz will take the stage Thursday, Jan. 19. The Platinum-selling pair skyrocketed to international stardom in 1995 with the release of their debut album, “Operation Stackola” and its lead single “I Got 5 on It.” Made up of rappers Yukmouth and Numskull, Luniz went on to release albums “Lunitik Muzik,” “Silver & Black,” and most recently, “High Timez” in 2015.

Ja Rule mesmerized a packed house at LAX Nightclub inside Luxor Hotel and Casino Saturday, Nov. 19, as the Las Vegas nightlife hotspot’s latest headliner. The New York rapper greeted fans with Champagne in hand speaking of his love for Las Vegas before performing a set list of fan-favorite hits. Among the songs performed were “Between Me and You,” “Put It on Me,” “I’m Real,” and “Always on Time,” among others. Ja Rule fist bumped members of the uproarious crowd before taking a seat at his VIP table, where he experienced city’s unrivaled nightlife.

“Ain’t gone hurt nobody, we just dancin ya’ll” was the refrain of the night at LAX Nightclub inside Luxor Hotel and Casino on Thursday, Oct. 27 as Kid ‘n Play returned for The Pajama Jam 2. The iconic ’90s duo, made up of Christopher “Play” Martin and Christopher “Kid” Reid, kicked off the venue’s Halloween weekend festivities as headliners in its Throwback Thursday series. Delivering hits including “Ain’t Gone Hurt Nobody,” “Last Night,” and “Kid vs. Play (the Battle),” the artists took the packed house on a trip back to the better days of hi-top fades, eight-ball jackets, and the Funky Charleston.

The hit film celebrates the 25th anniversary of its release this month.

Mike Jones came flossin’ to the stage for the acclaimed throwback series at LAX Nightclub on Thursday, Oct. 13. Known for his catch phrase “Who, Mike Jones”, the Dirty South rapper performed popular hits including “Back Then,” “Still Tippin,” and “Drop & Gimme 50.”

Houston-based MC Mike Jones rose to prominence in 2005 with the release of his breakout album “Who Is Mike Jones?” and its lead singles “Back Then” and “Still Tippin.” Jones released his sophomore album, “The Voice” in 2009 featuring the hit singles “Drop & Gimme 50,” “Cuddy Buddy,” “Next to You,” and “Boi!” A highly anticipated third album, “Where Is Mike Jones?” is expected later this year.

The one and only Mystikal brought the crowd to the floor at LAX Nightclub inside Luxor Hotel and Casino on Thursday, Sept. 1 as the latest headliner in the venue’s Throwback Thursday series. The New Orleans bad boy delivered a set list of fan-favorite hits including “Danger (Been So Long),” “The Man Right Chea,” and “Shake It Fast,” with signature dance moves that had everyone in the venue shaking it all night long.

Mystikal skyrocketed on the charts in the summer of 1999 with the No. 1 single “Danger (Been So Long).” He has since released hits including “I Smell Smoke,” “If It Ain’t Live, It Ain’t Me” and “Bouncin’ Back,” which was nominated for a GRAMMY in 2003.

LAX Nightclub at Luxor Hotel and Casino will take audiences from “Tennessee” to “Right Thurr” as it continues its popular Throwback Thursday series with Arrested Development on June 23 and Chingy on July 7. The acclaimed artists who shook the airwaves in the 1990s and early 2000s, respectively, will take guests back to hits from their fan-favorite song catalogues.

Arrested Development released its debut album “3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of…” in 1992 to popular and critical praise. In 1993, the alternative hip hop group won two GRAMMY awards for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, and was named Band of the Year by Rolling Stone magazine. The community conscious performers remain well-known for hits including “Tennessee” and “People Everyday.”

Chingy became a household name in 2003 with the release of the single “Right Thurr” and his chart-topping debut album “Jackpot.” The Dirty South-influenced artist from St. Louis went on to release infectious hits including “One Call Away,” “Holidae Inn,” and “Balla Baby.” While pursuing a career in film and on television, the platinum-selling artist recorded the popular albums “Powerballin’,” “Hoodstar,” and “Hate It or Love It.”
