The CSN Underground Film Collective ~ May 10th

On May 10th join The CSN Underground Film Collective for a non mainstream film once a month at the CSN West Charleston Campus, followed by a group discussion about the film and its impact on society.

This month’s film will be District 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the CSN Charleston Campus. In building K room 101. Open to the public and Students!

The CSN Underground Film Collective  was formed in 2010 and it is a fun and worthwhile experience. Students and the public get the benefit of watching a film for free, interaction with their peers in an engaging discussion, as well as seeing charities benefit from their contributions.

Previous watched films  as: Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Human Centipede, I Spit on Your Grave, Machete, Deliverance, Teeth, Orgazmo, the original Shaft and Planet of the Apes and many more.

The collections have benefited groups such as: Safe Nest, The Lupus Foundation of America, The Stomach Cancer Relief Network, Three Square, Toys For Tots, New Vista Community and Project AngelFaces!

Guests are invited to experience a gastronomic adventure as Spring Restaurant Week 2012 kicks off Monday, February 27 and runs through Sunday, March 4 at select MGM Resorts International restaurants.

For the sixth consecutive year, the city’s finest restaurants, celebrity chefs and Master Sommeliers will come together to support Three Square, a non-profit organization working to end hunger in Southern Nevada. This year marks the inaugural launch of Spring Las Vegas Restaurant Week, and offers unparalleled dining options for guests to enjoy at participating restaurants at ARIA, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, MGM Grand, Monte Carlo, New York-New York, Luxor, Excalibur and Circus Circus. Each restaurant will present delectable cuisine with special menus priced at $20.10, $30.10 and $50.10.

A sampling of the delightful culinary creations guests will find during Spring Restaurant Week include barMASA’s Chicken Skewers, Wagyu Beef Yaki Udon and Miso Cream Brulee. Delectable dishes at Aureole will highlight the Crusted Saffron Black Mussel and Scallop Soup, Beef Short Ribs and Preserved Lemon Tart with Piña Colada Ice Cream. MICHAEL MINA Bellagio’s hearty three-course menu will feature delicious selections such as Phyllo-Crusted Sole and Truffle-Stuffed Chicken. Nine Fine Irishmen guests will enjoy scrumptious lunch and dinner menus, both highlighted by the restaurant’s signature Bread and Butter Pudding.

In support of Three Square, Blue Man Group hosts the Summer Stock Up food drive where locals can bring a bag of nonperishable food items in exchange for one complimentary ticket per person to either the 7 or 10 p.m. performance the same evening and a 15 percent off coupon to the Blue Man Group retail store, while supplies last. All food collected will benefit children from low income homes, who are unable to take advantage of school lunch programs due to summer break.

Three Square’s list of needed items for patrons to choose from:

· Single-serving cereal boxes

· Fruit cups

· Granola and breakfast bars

· Crackers packs

· Cookie packs

· Sunflower seed packets

· Pop-top canned fruit

· Trail mix

Las Vegas supporters unable to attend the food drive can still participate in Blue Man Group’s summer fundraiser to help Three Square. Beginning May 5, locals can use the discount code “3 SQUARE LOCALS 50” to receive 50 percent off Blue and Red Zone tickets for shows Friday, May 20 through Sunday, June 19. Blue Man Group will donate 50 percent of the proceeds raised from tickets purchased, up to $10,000, using the special code to Three Square.
