Fashion Show Las Vegas Showcases the Beauty Of Nevada with All-New Nature-Inspired Staircase Mural Installation

Iconic shopping destination ups the ante of its one-of-a-kind art programming with an all-new 3D mural paying tribute to Nevada’s desert landscape

 

In partnership with local artist Michael Dodson and curator Patrick Duffy, Fashion Show Las Vegas – the area’s premier shopping, dining and experience venue – has debuted a larger than life three-dimensional mural on the northern Plaza staircase. The nature-inspired painted installation titled, ‘Be Kind to Bugs’ pays tribute to Nevada’s desert landscape.

 

Located on the northern strip-side Plaza staircase near Neiman Marcus, the mural resembles the natural beauty of Nevada and boasts a vibrant desert landscape. The multi-dimensional mural showcases pulsating hues that shift gradually from one to another and feature desert tones of red, orange and yellow in honor of Red Rock Canyon. In addition, the delicate and rugged scenery is complemented by an array of cacti and flowers, plus a colorful arrangement of butterflies that dance through the air.

“There is nothing more exciting than seeing an idea come to life, especially here in Las Vegas,” explains Duffy, CEO of the Nevada School of the Arts. “Now in our second staircase installment on The Plaza, we have been able to create not one, but two really unique concepts at Fashion Show that add a little color to Las Vegas, and after months of curation, I am beyond thrilled with the art installation Michael has created. It’s certainly a must-see art piece in the Las Vegas community.”

This one-of-a-kind artistic experience features over 50 unique colors, painted entirely by freehand, and took the artist 15 days to complete. Showcasing various gradients of the desert landscape, ‘Be Kind to Bugs’ joins Fashion Show’s ever evolving colorful art program on The Plaza. Guests are encouraged to take images at the newest hand-painted art installation at Fashion Show and share their experience on social media by tagging @fashionshowlv and use the hashtag #thefutureiscolorful and #fashionshowlv.

A Las Vegas native, Michael Dodson holds a Bachelor of Science, with an emphasis in studio art from Skidmore College in New York. His studies led him to Christie’s Education in New York City, where he earned his master’s degree in contemporary and modern art history, as well as the history of the art market. Before returning to his hometown in 2015, Dodson worked with art galleries, auction houses, web-based art galleries and print studios in New York City. Looking to share his passion for art and education, he served as the Artist-in-Residence at Opportunity Village’s New Opportunities for Visionary Arts (NOVA) initiative and at The Rogers Foundation, where he taught art classes to at-risk youth through the Foundation CORE Academy. Several of Dodson’s works, emanating from large-scale commissions, are currently on view throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

New York-Style Theatrical Holiday Show
“Believe in the Magic” returns for its second year in a row, this time with a fresh new storyline. Guests are invited to experience the live, complimentary New York-style theatrical holiday show in the Great Hall at Fashion Show. Kicking off on Black Friday (Nov. 23), guests will be able to get into the holiday spirit as “Believe in the Magic” transforms the heart of this shopping destination into a one-of-a-kind experience the entire family will enjoy. Following every show, guests are invited to parade with characters to Santa’s Photo Experience, while singing carols – allowing for the ultimate holiday affair. This special holiday show will perform every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through the holiday season with an additional day of shows on Christmas Eve (Nov. 23, 24, 25, 30; Dec. 1-2, 7-9, 14-16 and 21-24), available at noon, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm each day.

Santa’s Photo Experience
Revel in the magic of the holiday season at Fashion Show’s holiday Santa experience. Located near Neiman Marcus, guests will be able to visit with the Father of Christmas himself, and enjoy a variety of light-up holiday experiences from Santa’s interactive throne, touchscreen control, oversized neon lights and picturesque light up Christmas trees ranging from 12 feet to 30 feet high. Guests will be wowed by the elaborately decorated trees, music and more. In addition, families are welcome to get their picture taken with Santa himself, available starting on November 16 through Christmas Eve (Dec. 24).

‘Santagram’ Holographic Window Display
Come one, come all to the all-new hologram holiday experience, “Twas the Light Before Christmas.” Created by London-based experiential agency Cinimod Studio, known for its Hologram for Pink Floyd and Ralph Lauren 50thAnniversary Reflection, the Santa-inspired holographic display will debut for the first time within the United States inside Fashion Show – just in time for the holidays. Located on the upper level across from Dick’s Sporting Goods, guests will be treated to an enchanting and wonderfully modern twist on the traditionalism and magic of Santa Claus. Family and friends will be immersed into the unique experience featuring an inside look at Santa Claus delivering presents across the night vista via a holographic display created by Cinimod’s in-house specialist hologram creation team. Guests will be thrilled by Santa’s warm and colorful interactions and entertaining antics, making a holiday holographic experience to remember. This exclusive experience will be available starting on November 22 through January 10, 2019.
