Artist Michael Godard to be honored at “St. Jude: Affair of the Art” gala,
benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®

Artist Michael Godard will be honored for his commitment to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® at the seventh annual St. Jude: Affair of the Art gala from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, at the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The dinner program includes a red carpet reception, St. Jude patient family speakers, entertainment by Nieve Malandra and the Patty January Band, and a “Celebration of Life” collection of sculptures for auction that were created by Dorit Schwartz and painted by Michael Godard, Tony Vega and Joseph Watson, among others.

Since its inception, the gala has raised more than $2 million for St. Jude, which is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Thanks to fundraisers like this one, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

In 2006, Godard’s 16-year-old daughter passed away after a battle with brain cancer, so he is dedicated to using his talents as an artist to help other families going through similar trials.

“All the money in the world cannot bring her back, but it brings me joy knowing the funds I help raise for a cure will help save another child – thanks to the work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” said Godard.

Godard is a global top-selling artist who is known for redefining art and giving it a punch line, using his imagination and subtle humor. For example, his lighthearted work includes animated olives designed to evoke the creative side in “olive” us.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent since the hospital opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent, and we won’t stop until no child dies from cancer. St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. About St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Since opening more than 50 years ago, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has changed the way the world treats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. No family ever pays St. Jude for the care their child receives and, for every child treated here, thousands more have been saved worldwide through St. Jude discoveries. The hospital has played a pivotal role in pushing U.S. pediatric cancer survival rates from 20 to 80 percent overall, and is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. It is also a leader in the research and treatment of blood disorders and infectious diseases in children. St. Jude was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, who believed that no child should die in the dawn of life.
