THE MOB MUSEUM LAUNCHES MOBCAST, ITS NEW DIGITAL CONTENT PROGRAM DESIGNED TO REACH A GLOBAL AUDIENCE

Now, fans of The Mob Museum, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, can have access to informative Museum content no matter where they are. This month, the Museum debuts Mobcast, original videos hosted online featuring historians, authors, veterans of law enforcement agencies and others. The objective of Mobcast is to illuminate a different facet of the ongoing battle between the Mob and law enforcement and delve into aspects of Las Vegas history.

The first Mobcast, which may be found on YouTube here, was produced in commemoration of Nevada’s Sesquicentennial. It features former City of Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman, who was famously a defense attorney for several high-profile organized crime figures; Dr. Michael Green, Las Vegas expert and history professor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas; and Geoff Schumacher, noted author on Las Vegas history and director of content development, The Mob Museum. In the 16-minute Mobcast, they cover a variety of key moments in Nevada’s 150-year history when organized crime and law enforcement activities helped shape the course of the city’s development.

“Introducing Mobcast allows us not only to expand our reach to a potentially global audience, but also helps fulfill our mission of advancing public understanding of the ways the Mob and its battle with law enforcement has shaped society,” said Schumacher. “As a dynamic, living Museum, we recognized the importance of continuing to build upon our existing content. Mobcast allows us to produce timely and quality programming in a cost-effective, nimble manner for our audiences.”

Mobcast is posted on the Museum’s Facebook and Twitter pages. The Museum aims to produce two Mobcast programs per month and future topics will include looking at the Mob’s involvement in the JFK assassination, Prohibition-era cocktails, the Mob’s origins and much more. Some of the Museum’s Mobcast programs will be made available to the public while others will be available exclusively to Museum’s members. Other exclusive Museum-member perks include Artifacts After Hours programs and Wiseguy Speakers Series events, both of which take place at the Museum.
