For the kid at heart, the Trike Safari offers an eye-opening adventure around the Park’s field habitats, led by two tour guides providing in-depth knowledge of the many animals in the fields, including giraffes, rhinos, and gazelles.

Starting Saturday, June 27, guests can depart on the custom-made electric trikes for an hour-long tour filled with amazing photo opportunities and unique ways to observe the Park’s wildlife.

“The best part about the Trike Safari is that you get to experience part of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park that not many other guests get to see,” said Breanna Murray, tour operator for the Safari Park. “You are also in a very peaceful atmosphere where you get up-close and personal with some of the animals, and you may be able to experience behaviors that a lot of guests don’t usually see.”

The Trike Safari costs $80 per person and guests must be at least 12 years old to participate. Children 12 to 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult, while a written consent is needed for teens aged 16 and 17. Before each tour there is an orientation and training on the trikes. Tours depart every hour, starting at 10 a.m., seven days a week. For reservations and more information, visit

Summer Safari runs through Aug. 16 with extended Park hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. All festivities are included with admission or Safari Park membership.
