True Food Kitchen, the award-winning, seasonally inspired restaurant and bar that has pioneered health-driven dining, hosted a VIP preview event at its newest location at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace on Thursday, Feb. 6. Company executives and guests were joined by the vibrantly costumed Green Goddess of Detox and Green God of Retox as they enjoyed True Food Kitchen’s non-alcoholic, natural refreshers, imaginative cocktails and many of the restaurant’s signature dishes. Executive Chef Tylor Urias has created three new brick oven-fired pizzas to celebrate the holiday, including: Pizza Bianco, a white pizza made with a black truffle olive oil base, shaved prosciutto di San Danielle, arugula and balsamico glaze, priced at $18; Pizza di Mare, a Sicilian-style pizza with tomato Fra’davio sauce, shrimp, calamari and crab, mozzarella cheese and roasted red peppers and tarragon, available for $20; and Pizza Fra’nduja, a fennel and spiced pork sausage pizza with buffalo mozzarella cheese, Calabrian chiles, shaved fennel and Genovese basil, priced at $18.

The mood within the store is one of discretion, where understated drama is created by the surprising and unexpected combination of materials. Marble polychrome inlays produce decorative three-dimensional effects on the floors, while being harmoniously integrated with with the herringbone wood flooring. Juxtaposition of this sort, where opposites forge a new connection, is repeated throughout: technical, mechanical display units contrast with the softness of the rich fabrics that adorn the rooms; round tables offset rectangular ones; varnished iron wall finishes complement sage green and cherry red velvets, used for upholstery and fitting rooms. Throughout the store one finds sumptuous chairs, while vintage oriental rugs are layered over each other for a textured effect. BBQ & Brews 4th of July Firework Viewing Party – This free, all-ages Independence Day firework-viewing party on Thursday, July 4, includes a DJ on the Stripside patio and food and beverage specials including bottomless draft beer and well cocktails for $40 per person. Additionally, all military receive 25 percent off their bill all day. Guests will have a fantastic view of the July Fourth fireworks from the Strip-facing patio on Thursday night, while the party continues the evenings of Friday, July 5 with live music and Saturday, July 6, from 7 p.m. to midnight with more festive specials.

Daily Happy Hour Update – The new happy hour from Smoked Burgers & BBQ includes two-for-one draft beers and well cocktails from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the week.

Smokin’ Special – The classic Smokin’ Special is the most popular dining item on the menu this summer and includes the Smoked Burger that comes with mesquite fries and a 16-oz. Miller Lite.

SMOKED BURGERS & BBQ’S PATIO IS NOW OPEN ON THE LAS VEGAS STRIP

 

A cool breeze and the subtle scent of BBQ is in the air on the newly-opened patio located in the epicenter of the Las Vegas Strip at Smoked Burgers & BBQ at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. The thousands of locals and visitors who pass by each day are invited to enjoy the sunshine while sipping ice cold beers and chowing down on finger-licking favorites.

Smoked Burgers & BBQ’s patio is located directly on Las Vegas Boulevard and can seat 40 guests at 16 tables that wrap around the iconic Trevi Fountain. The al fresco dining area includes a full bar as well as an outdoor satellite bar located right on the sidewalk serving up cold beers to passersby. The 1500 square foot patio features two large-screen TVs.

As fans watch the Vegas Golden Knights take on the Anaheim Ducks, TREVI’s Executive Chef Jose Navarro will prepare an all-you-can-eat buffet to be served in the restaurant’s private upstairs seating. Dishes will include: Italian mixed greens, served with red wine vinaigrette, blue cheese or balsamic dressing; assorted pizzas, including sausage and peppers, cheese, pepperoni and margherita; loaded potato skins topped with cheddar cheese, sour cream and crispy bacon; garlic knots, served with shaved pecorino and marinera sauce; tortellini mac and cheese, mixed with truffle cheese sauce, then topped with herbed bread crumbs; mini beef meatballs, served with  marinara sauce; buffalo crispy chicken strips, served with blue cheese and ranch dressing; short rib arancini, made with crispy risotto with braised short rib and saffron aioli; and baked ziti, made with house-made meat sauce, zesty marinara and fresh mozzarella. Fall is in the air; and with custom camera rigs, robots, and a disruptive process at his disposal, so are a few of these NEW coffee shots from world-renowned food photographer Nathan Myhrvold. Just in time for National Coffee Day, the highly anticipated coffee collection is now available at Modernist Cuisine Gallery.

Coming on the heels of Myhrvold’s recent announcement to open two more galleries in Seattle, WA and La Jolla, CA in the fall, this new collection adds to the 90+ food-focused images now on display and for sale at Modernist Cuisine Gallery located on Royal Street in New Orleans and inside The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Equal parts hypnotic, tranquil, and energizing this collection pays homage to America’s favorite daytime beverage while instantly revealing the innovative photography techniques deployed by Myhrvold to capture these invigorating images.

MORNING CLOUDS

Cutting a coffee cup in half provides a hypnotizing view of the swirling Milky Way that forms with the addition of cream to coffee. This dramatic cutaway shot was taken with the help of a custom-built robot that was rigged to slowly pour cream into coffee so that Nathan could pinpoint the perfect moment to photograph the striking collision.

TIGER STRIPES
These “tiger stripes,” seen emerging from a bottomless portafilter, are one of the visual cues baristas rely on to help pull the perfect espresso shot. The golden bands form after about eight seconds, once the initially hesitant dark-brown trickles of coffee become a single stream and lighten in color.

MAGIC DRIPS
A steadied moment of anticipation and then relief as the first dewdrops of espresso begin to fall. Eventually viscosity and surface tension will cause the droplets to merge into a single stream of coffee.

CREMA
A tranquil moment of appreciation for crema, the coveted blanket of golden, aromatic foam on the surface of espresso–one of life’s simple pleasures.

LATTE LOVE

A perfect swirl of snowy foam, mahogany espresso, and heartfelt pareidolia. An expertly brewed shot of espresso with carefully steamed milk is a thing of beauty in and of itself.

LET’S MEET FOR COFFEE

It’s easy to get lost in the incredible details of the latte art in this image, like the heart-shaped ring of bubbles that formed in the crema, as well as the sharp contrast of dark espresso against the imperceptibly fine froth of steamed milk.

A SHOT OF CREAM

If you want to stage a daring coffee-shop cannonball act, you might want the help of a balloon pendulum robot. Nathan used the custom-built robot, equipped with metal arms for hurling liquid-filled balloons, to help create and perfectly capture the coffee and cream collision in this shot.

About Nathan Myhrvold

Nathan Myhrvold is founder of The Cooking Lab and lead author and photographer of Modernist Cuisine: The Art and Science of Cooking, Modernist Cuisine at Home, The Photography of Modernist Cuisine, Modernist Bread, and the forthcoming Modernist Pizza. He routinely pushes the boundaries of culinary science as a chef, photographer, scientist, and writer. He has had a passion for food and photography since he was a boy. At a young age he consumed cooking books and invested in new cameras and lenses—even while doing postdoctoral cosmology work with Stephen Hawking. While working as the chief technology officer of Microsoft, he took a leave of absence to earn his culinary diploma from École de Cuisine La Varenne in France. Myhrvold retired from Microsoft in 1999 to found Intellectual Ventures and pursue several interests, including photography, cooking, and food science. Inspired by the void in literature about culinary science and the cutting-edge techniques used in the world’s best restaurants, Myhrvold assembled the Modernist Cuisine team to share the art and science of cooking with others, hoping to pass on his own curiosity and passion for the movement.
