Freed’s Bakery, popular family-owned establishment, will celebrate 60 years of sweet treats and creative cakes in Las Vegas with a cupcake happy hour, available from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18 through Friday, Nov. 22.

 

In honor of 60 years, Freed’s will offer select cupcake flavors for 60 cents at Freed’s Bakery, located at 9815 S Eastern Ave., and both Freed’s Dessert Shops, located at 6475 N Decatur Blvd. and 10870 W. Charleston #110. Signature cupcake flavors include red velvet with cream cheese icing, and chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing.

Freed’s Bakery, the subject of Food Network’s hit show, “Vegas Cakes,” is bringing more sweets to the Las Vegas Valley with the opening of Freed’s Dessert Shop, the company’s new boutique patisserie concept offering an array of decadent pastries, cookies and more. A grand opening celebration will be held in October.

 

Located at 10870 W. Charleston #110 in Summerlin, this will be the company’s fourth location and its third Freed’s Dessert Shop. The first Freed’s Dessert Shop opened last year in Northwest Las Vegas at 6475 N. Decatur and in May, Freed’s opened a second Freed’s Dessert Shop location inside T-Mobile Arena. The family-owned bakery was established in Las Vegas in 1959.

Freed’s Bakery, the popular bakery and subject of Food Network’s hit show, “Vegas Cakes,” celebrated the grand opening of its new location in Northwest Las Vegas, Freed’s Dessert Shop on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Family and managers, Max Jacobson-Fried, Joani Fried and Sarah Fusco, were joined by Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick for a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The District B representative welcomed Freed’s Bakery’s newest location with a proclamation and ‘Welcome to the City’ certificates.

 

Guests indulged in Freed’s treats including complimentary signature cupcakes and the dessert shop’s famous strawberry shortcake. Attendees explored the new location and posed for photos in a photo booth, vied for cake during a traditional cake walk and participated in raffle giveaways.

Freed’s Bakery is sweetening up a little more of the Las Vegas Valley with the announcement that Freed’s Dessert Shop, located at 6475 N. Decatur Blvd., will open this fall. The popular, family-owned bakery and subject of Food Network’s hit show, “Vegas Cakes,” will commemorate the occasion with a grand opening celebration from noon until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6.

 

“Freed’s Bakery has created sweet memories for generations of Las Vegans,” said Max Fried, general manager of Freed’s Bakery. “Freed’s Dessert Shop, a boutique patisserie, will help us create even more, as well as offer convenience for the residents of North Las Vegas.”

The grand opening of Freed’s Dessert Shop, which will also celebrate the bakery’s 59th anniversary, will be open to the public and will include an afternoon full of sweet fun, from giveaways, promotions and free cupcakes to family entertainment.

 

The 1,160-square-foot Freed’s Dessert Shop will offer an array of decadent pastries, cookies, cake slices, 7-inch round cakes and sheet cakes for all special occasions. Signature creations include Freed’s strawberry shortcake, delicate white cake filled and iced with sweetened whipped cream and fresh sliced strawberries; cannoli, pastry dough filled with a blend of sweet ricotta, cinnamon, and chocolate chips; and Parisian cake, rich chocolate cake layered and iced with Belgian chocolate blended whipped cream and topped with chocolate shavings. Freed’s Bakery, a family-owned establishment of 59 years and featured bakery on Food Network’s hit show “Vegas Cakes,” will sweeten up the end of summer with hamburger and ice cream cupcake decorating classes beginning Thursday, August 2 through Friday, August 10.

 

Parents, children and cupcake lovers everywhere are invited to whip up burgers and ice cream in cupcake form at Freed’s Bakery. The 15 and 20-minute crash courses are designed for children and their parents to kick off the new school year with a fun, no-experience necessary activity.

 

Hamburger cupcake classes will run 15 minutes long and be held on Saturday, August 4 and Thursday, August 9. Ice cream cupcake decorating classes will run 20 minutes long and be held separately on Thursday, August 2 and Friday, August 10.

 

The purchase of a spot will include cupcakes for each group to decorate and take home. All materials, tools and instructions will be provided.

On Friday, Oct. 31, one of Las Vegas’ most popular Halloween events returns—this year with a gaggle of circus sideshow oddities in tow: The Neon Museum’s Boneyard Bash. Every attendee is strongly encouraged to come dressed in sideshow-inspired attire.

Guests will enjoy letting their freak flags fly in the Neon Museum Boneyard after dark, as well as live entertainment, appearances by the cast of Evil Dead, food trucks, FREE beer, wine and signature cocktail courtesy of Las Vegas Distillery, Banger Brewing, Big Dog’s Brewing Company, Joseph James Brewing Company, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly and Tenaya Creek Brewery (while supplies last; cash bar also available). On Monday, June 10, 2013, Terry Fator’s birthday wish came true! The multi-talented entertainer welcomed the 51 contestants from the Miss USA Pageant to his show, Terry Fator: The Voice of Entertainment, at The Mirage Hotelt & Casino. Following the opening number, Fator was surprised by his wife, Taylor Makakoa, and the reigning Miss USA, Nana Meriwether, as they presented him with a beautiful cake creation, courtesy of The Mirage. He was also presented was a massive birthday card, signed by audience members and fans.

The festive night ended with each audience member receiving a delicious cupcake from Freed’s Bakery.

The Miss USA contestants are in Las Vegas this week preparing to win the coveted crown. Miss USA will be broadcast live from PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort on Sunday, June 16.
