Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Announces Details for Little Big Town Exhibition

LITTLE BIG TOWN TO APPEAR JUNE 26 AT
COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME® AND MUSEUM
IN SUPPORT OF NEW EXHIBIT LITTLE BIG TOWN: THE POWER OF FOUR

Exhibition opens June 29 with artifacts including neon signs used on album cover for Pain Killer, Karen Fairchild’s wedding dress, costumes lined with LED lighting from the 2014 CMA Awards and more

Grammy-winning vocal group Little Big Town will be the subject of a special exhibit, Little Big Town: The Power of Four, opening June 29, 2018, and continuing through June 9, 2019, at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum. The popular foursome will participate in a special program Tuesday, June 26, 2018, in connection with the exhibit. Details for the program appear below.

Little Big Town members are Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook. Many of their albums have been top sellers, including The Road to Here (2005), Tornado (2012), Pain Killer (2014), and, most recently, The Breaker (2017). Little Big Town has received six CMA awards for Vocal Group of the Year and three Grammys, among many other honors.

The new exhibit tells the group’s story from the very beginning, and includes keepsakes and photos from each member’s childhood. The narrative recounts the development of individual talents that eventually brought the four together to form contemporary country music’s first two-woman, two-man vocal group. The exhibit storyline recalls early career struggles that ultimately strengthened the group’s bond and solidified their resolve to succeed on their own terms. By making bold musical decisions, the members of Little Big Town have joined the top echelon of country music stardom.

“Karen, Kimberly, Phillip, and Jimi—Little Big Town—build their music on a foundation of beautiful vocal harmonies seldom heard in country music,” said Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. “The group has enjoyed best-selling, award-winning success, but achieving that success required uncommon dedication and courage—and the willingness to make records for four different labels—before Little Big Town became consistent hit makers. Their journey has been a long one, and we embrace the opportunity to share Little Big Town’s story with our visitors.”

“Having an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is something we would never have thought to dream of for ourselves. It is beyond a dream come true,” said Fairchild. “We are honored to be a part of country music, and are so thankful to all our fans, the music community here in Nashville and the museum for this privilege.”

The exhibit includes many unique items that illuminate the personalities of group members. Artifacts include a handmade Afghan ceramic pitcher, given to Sweet by an American soldier after Little Big Town performed at a small military base in isolated Tarinkot, Afghanistan. The pitcher broke on Sweet’s long trip home, and his wife, Becky, repaired it. Usually displayed in the family dining room, the pitcher is on loan to the museum.

Additional highlights of the exhibition include:

  • Neon signs used for the cover photo of the album Pain Killer (2014).
  • Instruments used in underwater scenes in the music video for “Pain Killer” (2014) including:

o   Fender DG-60 used by Jimi Westbrook

o   Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus used by Phillip Sweet

  • BCBG Max Azria linen sundress with crochet detail and Golden Goose boots worn by Fairchild when she married Westbrook in a private ceremony in Nashville, May 31, 2006.
  • Clothes fitted with glow-in-the-dark, LED tube lighting, worn by Little Big Town for their appearance at the 2014 CMA Awards. After they performed “Day Drinking,” the group was joined on stage by pop star Ariana Grande for a performance of her hit “Bang Bang.”
  • Gretsch Electromatic with silver-sparkle top played by Kimberly Schlapman in performances of “Your Side of the Bed.”
  • Childhood memorabilia, including Fairchild’s high school cheerleading uniform, Westbrook’s trumpet, Schlapman’s recital costume and a drawing by Sweet.

Special programming surrounding the opening of the exhibit will include:

  • Tuesday, June 26                                         3:30 p.m.

Interview: Little Big Town
Fairchild, Schlapman, Sweet, and Westbrook will discuss their musical inspirations, creative process, and career milestones, as well as their personal histories and the joys and challenges of collaboration. The multi-media program will take place in the museum’s CMA Theater. Tickets can be reserved by clicking here.

  • Saturday, June 30                                         11:30 a.m.

Songwriter Session: Liz Rose

Rose also wrote “Crazy Girl” (Eli Young Band); “God Made Girls” (RaeLynn); “Fearless,” “Tim McGraw,” “You Belong with Me,” and Grammy Country Song of the Year winner “White Horse” (Taylor Swift); and songs recorded by Dan + Shay, Tyler Farr, Alison Krauss, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Lee Ann Womack, and Chris Young. About Kenny Rogers:
Kenny Rogers began recording in the late 1950s, notching a local hit in the Houston, TX market with “That Crazy Feeling” that resulted in a national TV appearance on “American Bandstand.” After stints with the jazz group the Bobby Doyle Three and folk favorite The New Christy Minstrels, Rogers formed The First Edition in 1967. As the lead singer of the group, Rogers sang on the band’s biggest hits, such as “Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)” and “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town.” The group, who hosted their own syndicated television series, “Rollin'”, stayed together through 1975.

In 1976, Rogers signed a deal in Nashville with United Artists. With the help of producer Larry Butler, Rogers released “Lucille” in early 1977, his first No. 1 hit. The singer would tally many classics through the decade, including “Love Or Something Like It,” “Sweet Music Man,” “The Gambler,” and “Every Time Two Fools Collide,” which he recorded with the late Dottie West. Rogers was named Male Vocalist of the Year by both the CMA and the ACM, being also recognized as Entertainer of the Year by the latter in 1979.

In 1980, Rogers made musical history with his cross-over success of “Lady.” The Lionel Richie composition netted the singer a hit in the Country, Pop, AC, and R&B fields. The album from which the song was pulled, Kenny Rogers’ Greatest Hits, was certified Diamond for sales of over ten million units. In the 1980s, he stayed on top of the charts with hits like “I Don’t Need You,” “We’ve Got Tonight,” and “Morning Desire,” and sang on the GRAMMY® winning USA For Africa charity single, “We Are The World,” joined by an unprecedented number of music legends. He also established a successful career as an actor – with roles in The Gambler movie series – and as a photographer, with several published books of photos to his credit, including “This Is My Country.”

Rogers has sold over 120 million albums worldwide during his career, making him one of the best-selling male artists of all-time according to the RIAA, with twenty Platinum albums and eleven Gold. He has won awards from every organization imaginable, including multiple GRAMMY® Awards, as well as CMA, ACM, CMT, TNN, Music City News, and American Music Awards. In 2012, Rogers released his successful memoir, “Luck or Something Like It” and became a New York Times Best-Selling Author. In the fall of 2013, Rogers was bestowed with his biggest honor, being inducted as a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. He continues to endear himself to audiences through his timeless music, and appearances on television – including a well-received Geico commercial in 2015.

In the fall of 2015, Kenny Rogers made headlines with the announcement that he would soon embark on a farewell tour – after one of the most successful and iconic careers in the history of show business. The spring of 2016 saw the singer begin that process with his “The Gambler’s Last Deal” Final World Tour, saying goodbye to his loyal legion of fans one city and one night at a time in what has been a critically-acclaimed night of music and memories. www.kennyrogers.com

Aaron Lewis Continues ‘Sinner’ Tour With Jam Packed Schedule

AARON LEWIS CONTINUES SINNER TOUR WITH JAM PACKED SCHEDULE

Aaron Lewis is starting 2017 where he ended 2016…with sold out performances this past weekend in Greensboro, Raleigh and Charlotte and an upcoming sold out schedule promoting his critically acclaimed album SINNER (Dot Records).

The self-proclaimed “Northern Redneck” and Staind frontman achieved critical and commercial success with SINNER earning him the #1 position on the Top 200 Albums, Top Country Albums and Top Digital Albums Charts upon release.

The 12-track project, voted one of Whiskey Riff’s 40 Best Country Albums of 2016, was recorded in only 16 hours at Nashville’s Blackbird Studios with producer Buddy Cannon (George Strait, Merle Haggard, George Jones). Lewis single-handedly penned eight of the songs, in addition to covering Chris Stapleton’s “Whiskey and You” and The Dixie Chicks’ “Travelin’ Soldier.” Lewis collaborates with Willie Nelson on the album’s title track while Grammy® Award-winning artists Alison Krauss, Dan Tyminski and Vince Gill are also featured.

SINNER was also one of Billboard’s 10 Best Country Albums of 2016. “The no-holds-barred honesty of tracks such as “I Lost It All” and “Mama” were some of the finest writing from a male artist this year.” – Billboard

The Boot raves, “Aaron Lewis shows a surprising understanding and respect for country music with his latest album, SINNER. Drawing from his childhood influences of listening to country music in his grandfather’s car, SINNER shows Aaron’s abilities as a singer, songwriter, musician and stylist. SINNER might just be the record that propels Aaron to a permanent place in country music.” Maverick Magazine’s Eric Dahl concurs, “Aaron Lewis brings a raw honesty to his songs on the new album SINNER that Country Music radio hasn’t heard in a long time. The imagery of the lyrics sucks you in, but his mournful voice and guitar keep you!”

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Tops Bluegrass Chart at #1, Reaches #11 on Country Albums and Americana Folk Charts

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Friends – Circlin’ Back: Celebrating 50 Years Tops
Bluegrass Chart at #1, Reaches #11 on Country Albums and Americana
Folk Charts in First Week of Sales

For five decades, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has remained one of the most iconic names in American roots music. With one foot planted in the traditions of country-folk and the other pointing toward something new and unexpected, the group continues to tour and release music, influencing multiple generations of audiences and artists along the way. Nearly a dozen of those artists join the group on this year’s Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Friends – Circlin’ Back: Celebrating 50 Years concert album, released Sept. 30 on NGDB’s own label, distributed by Warner Nashville. As of yesterday’s SoundScan report,Circlin’ Back hit #11 both on the Country Albums chart and Americana Folk chart, while topping the Bluegrass chart at #1 in the first week of sales. Continuing the 50th anniversary celebration, the band played early and late sets at the Grand Ole Opry’s Birthday Bash on Saturday, Oct. 8 in Nashville, TN.

About the record: Recorded live at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Friends captures a group of longtime road warriors who’ve yet to lose their grit, joined onstage by John Prine, Sam Bush, Vince Gill, Jerry Jeff Walker, Alison Krauss, Rodney Crowell, Byron House, and Jerry Douglas. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer (and early Dirt Band member) Jackson Browne joined in, along with longtime member Jimmy Ibbotson, while a sold-out crowd sings along in the background. From country classics to deep cuts, the tracklist finds bandmates Jeff Hanna (guitars/vocals), Jimmie Fadden (drums/harmonica/vocals), Bob Carpenter (keyboards/accordion/vocals) and John McEuen (banjo/fiddle/guitar/mandolin) swapping harmonies, trading solos, and shining new light on a catalog of vital, vibrant music.

Long before Americana music had a name, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band helped lead the charge, mixing elements of country, bluegrass, folk, mountain music, and rock & roll into a sound that celebrated the full range of American music. The guys were traditionalists and trendsetters, performing songs that nodded to the past while still pushing toward the future. Released in 1972 – just six years after the group formed in Southern California – Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s Will the Circle Be Unbroken still stands as one of the most beloved albums in the country catalog, pairing the young band with legends like Roy Acuff, Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, and Mother Maybelle Carter.

Many decades have passed since that milestone album’s release, with the members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band now enjoying their own legendary status. They continue to blur lines between genres, however, and the upcoming Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Friends accomplishes something very similar to the classic Will the Circle Be Unbroken pairing the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band with the hit-makers, rule-breakers, and iconic figures of today’s roots music community. This time, Hanna, Fadden, Carpenter, and McEuen are the elder statesmen, passing down their influence and inspiration to a younger class without giving up the torch just yet. There’s more music to be made, after all. More shows to play. Another half-century to chase down. The circle rolls on.

Fans are able to purchase the cd or cd/dvd combo via www.nittygritty.com, Amazon (cd or cd/dvd), and iTunes (cd or dvd).

With a six-decade career and 200 plus albums, this iconic Texan is the creative genius behind the historic recordings of “Crazy,” “Red Headed Stranger” and “Stardust.” Willie Nelson has earned every conceivable award as a musician and amassed reputable credentials as an author, actor and activist. Released May of 2012, Heroes, his first album for Legacy Recordings, showcased new songs and deep country classics. The album spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Americana Radio Chart. Later that year he launched his book, “Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die,” which landed in the Top 10 on The New York Times’ best-seller list. A road journal written in his inimitable, homespun voice, the book is a deeply personal look into the heart and soul of a unique man and one of the greatest artists of our time. In 2013, Nelson’s albums included April’s Let’s Face The Music And Dance,  an album of deep pop country repertoire classics performed with transformative patented ease by Nelson and Family, his long-time touring and recording ensemble; and October’s To All The Girls…, which features 18 duets with music’s top female singers including Dolly Parton, Mavis Staples, Sheryl Crow, Loretta Lynn, Wynonna Judd, Rosanne Cash, Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones and Shelby Lynne.
