MADAME TUSSAUDS LAS VEGAS TO LAUNCH DONNY & MARIE
WAX FIGURES IN 2016

Madame Tussauds Las Vegas will immortalize world-renowned musical performers Donny & Marie in 2016. The attraction is announcing today they will be the first new figures in the new year.

The brother and sister duo have been involved since the inception of the figures. Their sitting took more than three hours per person with the studio team taking approximately 300 measurements. Now this step is complete, their measurements have been used to be sculpt their figures in clay by hand, then covered in a plaster cast. The clay was removed from the casts and poured in and allowed to cool. The next few weeks will be spent meticulously inserting each hair by hand, which is customary for Madame Tussauds’ studio team. Finally, the figures will be fitted with acrylic eyes and teeth, while countless layers of tinted paint will be applied to build up skin tones and replicate their faces.

Photos from the sittings will be released in early November.

DONNY & MARIE TO UNVEIL THEIR MADAME TUSSAUDS WAX FIGURES
ON TUESDAY, FEB. 9 IN LAS VEGAS

On Tuesday, Feb. 9, Donny & Marie will personally unveil their Madame Tussauds wax figures. Scheduled to take place during their first Las Vegas performance of the new year, the figures will debut on stage inside The Donny & Marie Showroom at Flamingo Las Vegas. After the unveiling, the figures will be permanently on display inside Madame Tussauds Las Vegas located at The Venetian.

Donny Osmond and Marie Osmond’s figures are the attraction’s first new figures for 2016. The figures were created in late 2015. That was when Madame Tussauds’ studio team first measured the brother-sister duo. This step of the process involved collecting hand impressions and nearly 300 precise body and facial measurements per person, as well as comparing hair samples and eye color. For measuring, calipers were utilized to ensure accuracy. The figures were then sculpted and perfected in clay by hand. Once this step was completed, the clay was covered by a plaster cast, subsequently the clay was removed from the cast, the wax was poured in and allowed to cool, leaving the shape of the figures. The final weeks of 2015 were spent meticulously inserting each hair by hand then fitted with acrylic eyes and teeth. The final step included countless layers of tinted paint being applied to build up skin tones and replicate their faces.

The figures will be dressed in costumes from their show. Marie donated her deep aqua sequined knee-length dress, along with earrings and black and blue platform shoes. Donny gave his figure his black suit and shoes. Both of their wedding bands and rings will be replicated for the figures as well.

The Osmonds Bring Fifty Years of Hits to The Suncoast Showroom October 4-5

Veteran performers The Osmonds – brothers Merrill, Jay and Jimmy – will return to Las Vegas at the Suncoast Showroom October 4-5

The brothers got their start as a barbershop group in 1958, performing around their hometown of Ogden, Utah, before moving to California and working at Disneyland. It was there that Andy Williams heard The Osmond Brothers and invited them to perform on his show. That single appearance led the young “one-take Osmonds” to seven seasons as regulars on “The Andy Williams Show.”

The Osmond Brothers dropped “Brothers” from their name and signed with MGM Records in 1971. Hits like “One Bad Apple,” “Yo-Yo,” “Down by the Lazy River” and “Love Me For a Reason” transformed the group into world-famous teen idols, thrilling millions with their close harmonies, clean-cut image and energetic pop rock sound.

Known for their versatility and for shaping musical styles to fit their talents, the Osmonds gained further exposure with the 1976 premiere of “The Donny and Marie Show.” With the Osmond brothers as executive producers, the show exposed the incredible talents of the family members, and in 1979, the show transformed into “The Osmond Family Show.”

The Osmonds transitioned their sound from pop to country music in the early 1980’s, producing the hits “I Think About Your Lovin’” and “It’s Like Fallin’ In Love (Over and Over Again).”  Billboard magazine honored them with the “1982 Breakthrough Award” and acknowledged them as the “Number One New Singles Group of the Year.”

In 2003, the Osmond family was honored for their achievements in the entertainment industry with a star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame. They celebrated fifty years in show business in 2007 with a European tour and a PBS special, taped at Suncoast sister property, The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Showtime each evening is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available starting from $29.95, plus tax and convenience fees. Tickets can be purchased at any Boyd Gaming Box Office, by calling 702.284.7777, or by visiting www.suncoastcasino.com.
